  1. I have no experience with it, I don't know anyone that does so I don't want to in any way make this sound like I am endorsing it but I have been looking at the Meprolight RDS which is very interesting to me and cheap at $350. Might be worth a look.

  2. Mag availability and cost was enough to tip me to JP. I just ordered some ETS mags to try out <$15.

30 round MPX mags are less than $5 more than factory 33 round Glock mags if you know where to look and they seem to be plentiful atm.

So you can get MPX mags for $40-45? I'd love to know where. The expensive ass mags are a big deterent to me thinking about a Sig.

  3. I was looking at and waiting for the CZ Scorpion Carbine to come out when I found some info about the TNW ASR and well $650 street price has me interested.

Every other forum is full of guys saying "I put 200 flawless rounds through it so I'll call it a success." and then that's the last you hear from them.

I figured if anyone here had one they'd be a little more rough on it and give an honest review. So does anyone have one and if so what do you think? Have you shot it much? I'd it reliable?

  4. 48 pages so I haven't read them all but my two cents are there are 3 kinds of types of people that do USPSA/IDPA or any competetive shooting

    1) People that are there to win.

    2) People that have no place else to practice shooting while moving (self defense training and what-not)

    3) People that want to have some fun.

PCC currently seems like it exists mainly for Group 3 with maybe some people in Group 2 and some of the hardcore people in Group 1 are getting butthurt because they take USPSA seriosuly. I personally see no problem with a division exisiting solely because it's fun as long as it can be done safely, and I know it can be done safely because 3-gun has been doing it for years.

The only issue is not every USPSA club is going to have a range setup to do it and that's fine.

The one quesiton I have is the rules say slings are allowed and you can carry a gun vertically or bagged. Does that mean you can carry a slung gun between stages?

Curious: Why do you think that PCC shooters wouldn't be serious about winning or excelling in that division?

I honestly don't know; I just thought that at least at first it'd be people looking to have some giggles.

  6. Pick your budget, find what fits your mind/body by handling them, read the threads on your chosen gun, shoot it and see what it needs. As a forced lefty, I personally despise cross-bolt safeties with all of my being, so that was a limiting factor for my own initial entry into the realm of shotguns 20+ years ago.

Not a lefty but I also despise cross bolt safety's. I was thinking maybe I can work with it if everything else is great.

Also I'm short at 5'6 so a short LOP option is appealing and I know the Stoeger has a compact stock available.

  7. With what seems to be a pretty competitive setup on my m3k in am well under a grand including spare parts and a fair bit gun of ammo

    $550 M3K from kygunco

    $15 FFL

$100 +6 tube and follower from MOA

Plus a couple hours stippling the gun and opening up the load port. At least so far I have not seen a need for lifter work but who knows that may change down the road. I am a couple hundred rounds into the gun with zero issues

In Washington is have to pay sales tax on the gun but otherwise that route sounds appealing and well within my budget.

    Who is MOA?

  8. Long version:

I used to have a Mossberg 930 JM Pro that I shot really well but I sold it when I moved across the country. (I drove when I moved and I literally had no room left in my car for that shotgun so I sold it to a buddy who had been lusting after it after I let him use it in a shotgun match)

Part of me wants to get another Mossberg and set it up the way I did before and call it a day but while it worked well for me it was not without it's problems (Getting a lifter was a bitch, the LOP was a bit longer than I'd like, etc) and I've been hearing a lot of good things about the Stoeger 3000s and now they have the M3K it seems like that might be a better way to go in that all I'd have to do is throw an extended mag tube on it and call it a day as oppsoed to buying a lot of other parts I'd have to get for a Mossberg.

I also see a lot of love for the Beretta 1300 guns but I haven't looked into them much other than having some people tell me good things about them. The same for the CZ 712 but I have no idea what getting parts would be like for either of these and if they'd even be feasible for matches in that sense.

    Short Version:

Assuming you wanted to get a shotgun up and ready for 3-gun and shotgun matches what's the best budget gun? I just want something to run and I'd like the least amount of gunsmith work to be done to get it GTG. Buying parts I can swap myself I'm cool with but sending it off to someone for weeks/months is a pain I'd rather not have to deal with.

  9. I was trying to sell my 75 BD so I could upgrade to a model with a reversible magazine release. I was offered a trade I couldn't refuse and now I have a CZ SP-01 that has dual a dual safety. Mag release has been reversed so I am a happy camper.

I plan to shoot it in IDPA ESP & USPSA Limited; I will not shoot it in Production as I have zero desire to lower the hammer on a live round. I know it can be done I just don't want to do it.

    So my two questions are:

    A) What safety options do I have that will be legal for ESP and Limited?

    B) What is involved in installing that safety? Is it something I can do myself or should I have a gun smith do it?

  10. Yeah I realized I would be shooting Limited Minor but I gave up on winning anything at matches and just try to have fun. It would be fantastic for IDPA ESP thoughl

I'm assuming my holsters for my CZ-75BD won't fit the 75 SA?

Also how the hell is your slide staying on that gun?

  11. So I have a CZ-75BD that I like but I don't shoot in matches much because I have smaller hands and as such I have grown acostomed to reversing the mag releas on my plastic guns and using my trigger finger to drop a mag and with my BD this is not an option.

So I have been giving some thought to selling the BD and getting a different CZ to use in matches. I know the accu-shadows are like the bees knees and shit but A) That's a lot of money and B) I'm not really that good.

So I've been looking at the matt stainless model, the SP-01s and the SA and at the moment I am leaning quite heavily towards the SA. It has that sexy flat trigger, the larger safety, a slight heavier slide, reversable mag release and it's really not all that much more money relative to a standard 75B.

Getting the SA means I can't easily shoot production or SSP but that's fine I have lots of other guns for those divisions.

So talk me out of it, or convince me it's a good idea. How does the triggers on the SAs stack up with the standards 75s?

  12. I have the T120 and really like it; save cheasy, not easily replaced sights and the narrow, stumpy beaver tail, I'd put them on par with any other CZ75 platform pistol.

What about the sights make them difficult to replace?

  13. I've been giving some though to shooting single stack recently. I was thinking about getting some of the blade tech double pouches and calling it a day but I remember seeing some guys at matches with these contraptions that store like 6 single stack mags pointing bullets out form the belt that seemed like they saved a lot of space on the belt.

Who makes those style and are they actually any good?

  14. I'm a lefty, shooting a 9mm 1911 in Single Stack (minor). Over the past few years I've given up the idea of swapping magazine catches on my guns, I just use my trigger finger to drop the magazines. I find it much easier to reach the magazine catch with my index finger without changing my grip at all, and a reduced-power magazine catch spring also helps.

There's one other small advantage: if your trigger finger is pushing the magazine catch, it surely can't be inside the trigger guard during a magazine change. Before starting a stage I do make it a point to tell ROs that I'm left-handed, and that I'll be using my trigger finger to swap magazines.

    Chris

That's why I like using my trigger finger and I have all my other guns setup lefty friendly despite being right handed.

  15. I just bought a Ruger 1911 used; I got a deal too good to pass up on it. I'm going to shoot it a bunch and see how it runs and maybe start shooting single stack with it. However one of the issues I have with the 1911 and well almost every pistol out there is I can't reach the mag release without breaking my grip and turning the gun in my hand so I have all of my other pistols set up so that I can drop the mag with hitting the mag relase with my trigger finger.

I have some MagPul grips on the way and I'm going to see if that helps things with my thumb reach but I suspect I'm going to have to install a reversed or ambi mag release on the gun. I did some googling and found some options out there but I thought I'd ask around here to see what other people use and how well it works.

  16. I shipped the pistol to Glock and had it returned about a week and a half ago. The note that came with it was not very informative so I emailed them to ask what if anything they did.

They replied that they replaced a damaged extractor and connector. I could have probably fixed it with an Apex extractor.
