Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I was tempted to take a rubber mallet to mine, but learned from the past that when you try to use force, you often damage or break things. Just shipped the thing out to Mossberg today.
  2. Mine is going back to the factory, and either problem I mentioned earlier is sufficient reason to do so. Just waiting for a shipping label. I am getting the impression that Mossberg slams these things together pretty fast.
  3. Take it outside and see if there still is a slight veer in the barrel. indoor lighting has a tendacy to create some weird shadows on vent ribs making the barrel look "bent" Looked this thing over every which way, and it definately veers to the right. I took it apart for it's first cleaning and to check it over. Went to reassemble it and found it almost impossible to get the barrel lug back over the gas tube. I honestly thought for a while I would be sending it back to the factory in parts. Finally after wiggling turning and pulling every way imaginable it slid back over the tube and I was able to complete reassembly. I can't believe all the 930 barrels slide back on that hard. Called Mossberg customer service, told him the problems, and got a shipping label being emailed to me next week. Frustrating, but I guess worse things can happen. I'll try to remain optomistic that Mossberg will take care of this.
  4. Just got my JM Pro today, and love it except for one issue- I noticed the barrel makes a very slight but noticable veer to the right from sight plain of the receiver. Is there any simple fix here? Has anyone else received a 930 like this?
  5. I tried out the NC XL end cap today(pirated it from my Benelli) on my newly-purchased 930 JM , and it's still about 0.5" short of accepting that 9th round. So, the XXL should be just about right, as noted previously. Would shortening the spring a fuzz be an option? Probably, but I'm a little leery of trimming it just yet until I get some of the feeding issues straightened out. Thanks. Keep us posted if you make any changes.

  7. Great observation. Was the last shell tight, or a little room to spare? I haven't tried it yet, but I have the 1.5" end cap on the way just to see if it will give me an extra round. Please let us know how it turns out. I ordered the 1.5" end cap extension, Nordic part number CAP-XXL-12-00, it WILL give you an extra round in the tube. Huzzah!
  8. I'm getting ready to order a JM Pro, and would like to get a pictinny rail with it . I see the mossy catalog offers a #96200 "picatinny rail, matte finish" and a #95208 "scope base, matte finish". Honestly, they both look the same, but I know there has to be a difference. Could anyone explain the difference here? I eventually want to put a scope or halograph red dot sight on it. Not sure which one would be best for my pupose.
  9. All of the 930's I have held thus far have a slight wiggle in the trigger group. Seem's like Mossberg would have cleaned this up over time.
  10. Bottom line, is there any meaningful advantage in having a 930 with the chrome parts as opposed to one that doesn't?
  11. Can anyone comment on the chromed parts in the JM Pro trigger assembly--are they producing a noticably better trigger pull than the standard 930's? Is it a difficult job to hone a chromed part(If needed)as opposed to one that is not?
  12. Hi everyone, I just wanted to state for starters that I am new to this forum. What drew me to join was the fact that there was so much information being posted here on the Mossberg 930, and that is my gun of intrest right now. What I am looking for is primarily a good semi auto for home defense and multigun competition being somthing I'm wanting to get into also. I have visted a few gun shops, and the 2 guns that appealed to me the most so far was the 930 SPX, and the Benelli M2 tactical (18" bbl). The only 2 issues I had with the SPX were the ghost sights, which to me would have little practical value IMO, and the lack of screw in chokes. The Benelli would need an extension tube, and on top of that is double the money of a decent 930 setup. Looks like more of a refined product, but double the money? Neither seems to be the obvious choice, but I was wondering if the new JM pro gun (22" bbl) would give me the best of both guns? Would the longer barrel put me at a noticeable disadvantage for a home defense gun? Any comments would be appreciated.
