  1. All the striker assemblies are the same for all the full-size guns. Do yourself a favor and get a reduced power striker spring. I have a rival s thread a couple posts down.
  2. Aside from an empty mag holding the bolt open like normal. When loaded with an extended magazine that doesn’t sit flush. Like one of my TTI basepads. The mags do overinsert and the bolt won’t close. I always load up on a closed bolt then rack it. If I had to do a course with prone of something where the magazine would be against the ground or a table and could over insert. I would use a stock 23 round mag that has the sleeve which prevents over insertion.
  3. Just posting a useless update since I saw this thread update. I had zero issues with the stock mag release and have zero issues with the DisDef mag release… I was talking to them a while ago and they were debating making a mag release that also fixed the over insertion issue, but haven’t heard from them since.
  4. Awesome, yeah he does great work. Going to have to see if he can make some M&P grips..
  5. Yeah the rumor mill from my dealer is that the revised model will only come in Darkside. But even he hasn’t heard anything new in at least a month.
  6. Had the same thing happen at a match in the beginning of the year. My M&P’s SCS loosened up big time. Didn’t figure out until I went to turn it off after the last stage. 4 stages of everyone watching me miss everything.
  7. I will buy that chrome barrel off of you..
  8. I ran one in a couple competitions. Zero issues, it’s a great little gun and I may like the pistol grip reload better than a detached mag reload. Probably since I do so much pistol training. The only issue is that mine at least has an over insertion issue. If you insert a magazine on an open bolt then it will overinsert. For my matches I always drop the bolt, load the mag then charge it. Haven’t had to do any prone shooting but that would definitely cause a jam if I did. I don’t use the spacers since I use mag extensions. Just picked up the SW Response because I want to use a magnifier in PCSL matches (fpc rail doesn’t go back far enough) and it does not have the over insertion issue.
  9. what springs from my initial couple posts are you running in these two guns?
  10. I imagine you started doing the CZ cut spring from my thread. Been about 5,000 rounds since I made that and still running flawless. Don’t go back to the stock extractor spring…
  11. No I talked to him about it, this is a side little passion project for him. Said the exposure of websites and instagrams would turn it into a job. Shoot me a PM I believe he sent me an extra medium a while back with the edge grip. I’ll send it over to you.
  12. Sorry, been on vacation and not checking posts. If you’ve tried all my spring recommendations (specifically the lightened striker spring and CZ extractor spring) and are still getting light strikes. It could be your actual firing pin. On mine, after a couple thousand rounds, I realized that the firing pin is still making a little bit of contact with the striker block. And you can see the metal peening over on the firing pin. Just a couple quick swipes with a file and you’re good to go. It won’t affect safety, it’s literally just a hair that is enough to cause an out of battery regardless of spring combo. I won’t be back until next week, but I can make a quick video then or what I’m talking about. for the guide Rod, I believe I posted it a couple posts down in this thread. Just a basic Glock 17 Rod.
  13. I had the same issue with a W74 rod in my Rival S. I would have to remove the striker. Looking at the barrel, the lug was chewed up. Not sure at all how that guide Rod does it, but I immediately stopped using it. No issues since.
  14. The Rival S is 17 pounds recoil spring. Can’t remember where I first saw that answer, but I have everything from 14-18 pound springs and it performs exactly between the 16 and 18 pound springs. It’s no where near a 19 pound.
  15. Thanks for the feedback. Would you mind posting what you used for ammo (brand and weight), and the spring or any other changes you made? I'm always chasing a better way to make all my firearms more reliable. And specifically with this one, shooting USPSA, it NEEDS to be reliable.
  16. Yeah it was hard to tell during the match. I've shot about 50 clays up out of the air in my entire life. Shoot Pistols with both eyes open for sure, iron, optic target focus no issue. Shotgun and Rifle I just don't shoot that much. I'll try covering it up and trying it out this weekend and see if I can work on it.
  17. So, I've shot a couple 2 and 3 gun matches and always used a pump shotgun. Texas stars, plate racks, steel poppers that toss a clay in the air. Always went well enough. This year I got a VR80. And it's a cool setup, came stock with a magwell, big mags, Vortex Strikefire 2 optic. Been using it all year with new shooters doing little mock three gun drills. But yesterday, was the first day that I used it in a match and actually had to shoot a popper that tossed a clay in the air. And I swear I was shooting with both eyes open. But, as soon as that clay went flying I just could not find it. Now, I signed up for this match yesterday to test out some ammo, mag pouches, etc because we have a really fun shotgun only match coming up. But now I'm worried about flying clays. And I thought that maybe I just need to swap to more of a pistol style optic that is smaller in all dimensions. But literally the second I finished the stage, the RO running it went "Ha, yeah that same s#!t happens with me and my Romeo". So for you three gunners that deal with really close flying clays. Do you run an optic for long shots and then an offset bead, just get better at making sure both eyes are open (which I swear mine were... but maybe the strikefire is just too much of a tank in front of my face), do you shoot open with a mag fed gun and not do optic? Kind of at a loss of what to try. This gun also doesn't come with any stock bead or irons, so not sure what would be a good bead Mlok sight if I decide to do something offset.
  18. Lol, you're like me with M&Ps, and things like this anger me so much. If you know anything about the M&P mag release installation... it's just so freaking simple. And I did see you post that about the floss earlier and forgot about it. That's a good idea. I'm still going to wait until I get another Rival or that metal tool comes out, but will try it.
  19. I’ve run it in two matches now. Works great, not sure if better… the tool they sent I broke immediately, which isn’t an issue, they make that clear that it’s single use. But I figured I’d still be swapping them back and forth testing stuff once I figured out the spring. I don’t think there’s a “trick”. That mag catch spring is a nightmare. I’ve been talking to them and they are planning a multiple use all metal tool which I’ll be buying. Also trying to convince them to make a catch with more material on it to prevent over insertion.
  20. Exactly, name a manufacturer and I've had a gun from them that wasn't 100 percent reliable. Even something like the M&P. I had ten of them in different calibers in lengths that were all 100 percent. Until the 4" 10mm came out. And it along with much of the internet reporting, was hot garbage. But of course I didn't send it back, I got out my file and fixed the extractor, a couple months later Apex made a better one for like 40 bucks. That's it, I had basically zero downtime with that gun. It might still be out for warranty work to this day if I sent it back.
  21. Yeah out of battery is by far my most common issue across all brands of ammo. Reduced striker spring fixes it.
  22. Yes, stock extractor spring too weak, striker too strong and finicky without the appropriate recoil spring for the ammo. Flat point and certain ammo (like Fiocchi) need a stronger than stock recoil spring, where some ammo like cci 124 can run fine with 2 or even 3 pounds below stock recoil weight.
  23. I was using Federal Training 147 which has that same profile and did the same thing. The Rival hates flat point anything. I initially got them to run better by clipping a spring on the extractor, but then I ran into FTE. Basically with that ammo now, I run stock or higher extractor spring, 5.5 Glock striker and 18 pound recoil to just slam it home. How many rounds do you have through yours? I also noticed that federal ammo specifically acts up way way less even when I’ve had everything back to stock now that I’ve got 3,000 or so rounds through it.
  24. Here you go. I cut not even an entire circle of an end coil. Takes the XP extractor spring from 10mm to 9.4mm. (They don’t come red, I Dye them because I have so many damn springs rolling around)
