  1. I will within a few weeks, had it sent to my old address... in the process of getting it back lol.
  2. Did not know that, how odd. Get a Gmail account!
  3. Ha! I always feel the shooters get "spoiled" with this whole electronic thing, in a good way of course. One thing I still do on paper is the squadding, and it seems that since people no longer have to fill out a scoresheet, they get into that swing of not having to write anything down and I have to yell at everyone to squad up! lol Volunteer devices get us through matches as well for the moment.
  4. Yes that was a stage name from our weekly match, which is only a 3-stage match so we don't have issues with remembering what stage was where. For the monthly matches we proceed as Eric noted he would do, the simple solution of naming the stage "Stage [#] - [Name]". Couple people on here have already noted issues with overheating resulting in freezing, low/no responsiveness in touchscreen, or flat out device failure, so keep it as cool as possible! Perhaps find a white cover for it to deflect sunlight, or simply keep it in the shade as often as possible. As far as I know, NST's don't have overheat protection like Apple products do. (If an Apple product notices that it is getting too hot, it first dims the screen to reduce heat from the backlight. If that does not alleviate the temperature rise, it will shut itself off to prevent further damage.) Just giving you a heads up, not trying to sell you an iPad
  5. Eric, if you're looking at the individual shooter, (as in, you've already picked Stage>Squad and have already clicked a shooter and you're on the screen where you can input their time, procedurals, etc) you should see the stage name in the top left. Example from my phone attached (stage name "Pallet Monkey" - top left just under menu buttons):
  6. ^This. Separating Steel/Alphas for those running paper backup/summary makes it tedious and error-prone. The pairing stages option you discussed would be a welcome addition, but what about just giving the ability to choose the order of the screens as an option? Stage>Squad>Shooter makes sense for L2+ matches where the RO's will stay with the stage, but for the majority of Practiscore's use, which will be L1 matches, Squad>Stage>Shooter would make much more sense as the scorer/RO usually moves with the squad, at least in my short experience. (I'm not sure who suggested Squad>Shooter>Stage, but that would be of very limited and rare use such as running the rare "I'm in a hurry" shooter through every stage all at once, I imagine. Squad/Stage/Shooter would be what most people using Practiscore would want, I would be willing to bet.) This could be something added as maybe a little Gear icon to make app-wide changes to settings in one of the corners like many iOS apps, another main menu option like "GUI Options", or perhaps as presets that can be chosen when creating the match. As in, when you create a new match, there would simply be another thing to define. Name: Monthly USPSA Date: June 5, 2012 Display: [dropdown list] Stage>Squad>Shooter Squad>Stage>Shooter Squad>Shooter>Stage Also, thanks for your efforts in staying in touch with us and continually improving a great asset to the practical shooting community!
  7. The whole movie I kept wondering "where is Batman and Spiderman?! are they too busy to help out on this squad?" They got their own feature movies instead, I guess Sadly with Sony owning the rights to Spider-Man and Fox owning the rights to X-Men, we'll never see them in an Avengers movie
  8. Well that trailer is just about everything a trailer oughta be... Dramatic and exciting lol.
  9. It's supposed to be a continuation from "The Incredible Hulk" with Edward Norton as Hulk, where, by the end of the movie, he was able to control it. As it was explained to be by a comic fan, the hulk can still actually lose control in anger, and when he changes under those conditions, he is not controlled. However when he consciously changes, he is under control. I agree that this was not explained too well... In the comics, the Hulk has been both an Avenger, and an enemy to the Avengers. this movie makes me really want to see Cabin in the Woods, also with a hand in by Joss Whedon, with equally glowing reviews...
  10. Does Practiscore not create a new or edit the master registration file that you first import? ... I cannot find an updated one as a I dig through the app files on my iPhone. A few more details and reasoning: A few months ago I imported a master file to the iPhone (from the EWS master). Since then I've used it to score several matches, and that original database has grown with new shooters. I assumed that PS was updating the original master file that I imported, but when I look at the "reg.txt" file in the application folder in the "Inbox" folder of PS, it is the same, unedited master file from months ago. Unless I'm simply not looking in the right folder, this now leads me to believe that PS uses a proprietary database to populate the newer shooters that have been added since the import. What I wanted to do, was download the "new" master file (with all the new shooters that I've added to PS) to my computer, so that I could edit that file as a .tsv in Excel. That way I could much more quickly enter e-mail addresses, USPSA numbers, and make any other corrections through excel instead of having to individually edit shooters in the app. Can someone tell me how to get the "new" master file from the app? Or if it is even possible? Note that I'm using the app iFile to browse my phones internal files to peek around.
  11. Yeah there are a few shows that have been cancelled in the past due to high production cost despite generally good ratings.
  12. My friend in Houston caught one of the early screenings about a week and a half ago I believe. Anyway, he said it was absolutely amazing. It's a tough feat for a movie to meld all those main characters into one story.. and all the reviews so far all say that it was done damn well. It has a 95% on rottentomatoes. There are 2 negative reviews on rotten right now, and the author of one has publicly stated his company likes to "go against the mainsteam to get hits". And the other says that every Twilight was a good movie..... I don't count those opinions LOL. So 100% for me with credible reviewers. I am definitely looking forward to this movie!
  13. I was more surprised that Kyle wasn't calling them out. Though that might have messed with Augies memory... Maybe they told him not to do it to keep it "fair", which would suck because it worked well for him in training, where Augie was the one the struggled.
  14. Hahah no I'll do this on my own!! And make all my own mistakes! hahah. Yeah I've been leaning more towards staying mostly vertical.. As I continually readjust for different angles, closer to vertical seems to come out better... I get that a lot... lol
  15. I was the recent victim of generosity by a fellow shooter, who is letting me borrow some of his CR Versa mag pouches. Coming from my previous double mag pouches shown here: These sweet single mag holders offer me flexibility in the way of mounting angle, or cant, which I didn't really have to deal with on the doubles. I've been told that most people mount their mags with a rearward cant, and whenever I see pictures of race gear and whatnot, it does seem to be the case. I haven't paid much attention to the people I shoot with, but I imagine most people that have the option, would also be doing the same. I've mounted the holders with both a rearward and a forward cant and here are a few things I have noticed, let me know what you guys think: Keep in mind that this will be for a PRODUCTION setup, so everything behind the hip. Also I may have some things flat out wrong; feel free to correct. Forward cant: (Ignore that the mags sit real high, being a newbie to the CR system, I mounted the spacers a little funny when I took this picture) -- PRO: Mags are closer to centerline of shooter meaning the hand does not have to travel as far from the gun to reach a mag in a position respective to an alternative cant. -- PRO: Rear mags are relatively easy to reach, and become (respective to other cant angles) easier to reach. -- CON: Angle of mag is away from gun, meaning after shooting, shooter must drastically change wrist position downward to grab mag and return the wrist to original position to feed magazine into gun. Greater wrist movement when compared to alternative cants. Rearward cant: (Perhaps I've made the angle a little to extreme, so if I'm convinced I may go back and try with a more slight rearward cant, vs such an extreme one.) -- PRO: Now this is just a guess, but I think the idea behind the rearward cant is such that when you reach down for the magazine, the angle with which your hand grabs the mag is closer to the angle at which you feed it to your gun in comparison to other cant options. -- CON: Must reach farther back for every mag respective to alternative cants. -- CON: Rear mags are pretty dang hard to reach. The fourth mag is already a pretty good stretch to get to, the fifth is downright uncomfortable. Though I imagine the further back you go, the more upright I'd have to orient the mag holders for that reason. Vertical cant: -- PRO: Exact same mag angle for every grab, though this may somewhat irrelevant since your arm angle will change the further back you go. Regarding grabbing angles, with a rearward cant, it also seems that you're having to change momentum a little more drastically to achieve a mag change... or rather it's just a different type of momentum change maybe. Explanation: Rearward cant - arm swings downward, grab mag, jerk backward to pull mag from holder, jerk forward and upward towards gun. Forward cant - arm swings downward, grab mag, jerk upward/forward to pull mag and towards gun. It just seems like there's an extra step with the rearward cant, BUT perhaps the savings of not having to turn the mag/wrist as much makes it worth it? Don't know... my thinking is all over the place. Someone sort it for me lol. I'll note further that the rearward cant might make more sense in Lim/L10/Open, since you can get the holders at your centerline, which would make grabbing mags from directly in front of you a little bit more natural, but I'm struggling to see the benefit in Production division. Right now I feel that a slight forward, or even vertical cant has the advantage over the rearward, but that may just be my style of play. I don't know if any "pros" do that at all, and if no one at all uses a forward cant, it would lead me to question why it seems to feel better to me. I know we should generally always "do what is comfortable for YOU", but maybe I'm missing something, hence the reason for the thread.
  16. For $300, the picture BETTER be good! lol I'd definitely spring for it if I could, but as shooting is expensive enough, budget is the name of the game
  17. lol that would be interesting. It probably wouldn't sell more than a thousand copies, but think of an IPSC game with all your usual video game attributes. "Train" to increase accuracy, stamina, etc. "upgrade" as you win matches. Start with a hi-point 9mm in production LOL. Win matches to earn money, buy new guns, add trigger kits, springs, sights etc. Eventually get up to open where you can buy comps, dots, etc.. lol
  18. As I said earlier: "Guys here talk about wives/girlfriends/family enjoying the show, and a big part of me sadly knows that if this were strictly a "shooting competition" showing run after run of individual shooter, we'd lose a lot of that viewer base. It'd be like watching the Olympics, which no one would do if they didn't have countries to root for. Giving teams and drama gives us personalities to root for, which people need to keep interest." We have plenty of people come into clubs because they heard about USPSA on Top Shot. You think any of them come in thinking it's going to be a drama-fest? Of course not. People understand that personality is a consequence of an individual, not the shooting itself, as is showcased by any drama-driven reality show, otherwise people wouldn't come in because of Top Shot. Even if they have some weird expectation of what competitive shooting will be because of Top Shot, as I also said before, that's what we're here for -- to set em straight. They will quickly learn what it's "all about". The point is that it is peaking interest and getting people in the door. Exposure, interest, and involvement is the name of the game.
  19. Weather was exactly like Owensboro. Got a little tease that it might warm up with that sun poking out... Then a cold, steady breeze would rip through reminding you who's boss lol. Great match guys!
  20. A full weekend of USPSA for me! Just shot Owensboro and I'll be headed up there tomorrow.. See y'all there.
  21. Used PractiScore for a weekly match last night and everything went amazingly well. No hiccups, and everyone seemed to absolutely love how easy it was to use. In fact, the only thing that was slowing us down was the paper backups we were keeping. Went back today in the afternoon to upload via EzWinScore, followed all the instructions on the support page, and it only took 5-10 minutes to get scores up on USPSA.org -- and that includes reading instructions, emailing match/stage/score files to myself, and the rest. It's gonna take about 1-2 minutes next time and that's just phenomenal. I can't help but repeat to myself while using it that "this is the future" of USPSA scoring. Here's a question of efficiency posed to anyone: In ages long past when we used only paper scoresheets (last week), shooting order in the squads would first be a random order of the shooters. For every subsequent stage, we'd simply move the shooter who was first on the last stage to the back and the person who was second on the last stage would now be first on the current stage. Example: [Letters stand for different shooters] Stage 1 Order = ABCDEF; Stage 2 = BCDEFA; Stage 3 = CDEFAB; and so forth. Among a multitude of features, one that I do like about PractiScore is the ability to easily randomize the shooting order for every stage. The only issue with this arises when also scoring on paper. Let's say I had shooters in order ABCDEF to start, with the paper scoresheets in the same order. On the next stage, I re-randomize shooting order yielding CBEFAD. Now I have to rearrange every single scoresheet to that order which can be time consuming and focus-stealing with larger squads. Now I know instead of per-person individual scoresheets I can simply use a summary scoresheet with several lines on it such as the ones up on the PractiScore site: like this. But I'm wondering how to keep that organized as well with randomly writing names up as they appear in random order... Anyone have a "system" for this? Or should I simply stop re-randomizing and stick with the old order system, and just remember my place in practiscore? Also for those of you keeping paper, are the paper scorer and the digital scorer the same person or different? Since I was only noting TOTAL hits and time on paper, I found this easy to do by myself along with Practiscore. I'd enter time and score targets with PS, hit "review score" and voila, just copy all totals to paper in a few seconds. Honestly these questions would be a non-issue if I was not keeping paper backupes. I'm hoping to have enough trust in this app to not even have a paper backup at some point. Don't know what my threshold will be for when I decide to ditch the paper, but I aim to get there at some point.
  22. If I already have a master database registration.txt with a given set of names, and I want to import more names from another master database registration.txt that may have duplicates, but will have some new, how will PractiScore handle this? Will it merge and keep only new names? Will it create duplicates? Or will it replace the old master with the new, losing any names from the previous?
  23. HAHA And yeah there is a lot of instruction/tutorial given off camera, restrictions imposed, things like that. A lot of things that makes you go, "well why didn't they just...", and the answer is usually because they were told not to.
