  1. I have a G-37 and a G-21 plus 7 other Glocks. I enjoy the G-37 very much, it is fun to shoot and to reload for. The GAP fills a need for those that want a 45 but can't shoot the large frame G21 sue to hand size or are just not comfortable with the large grip of the G-21.

There are many guns that people think are worthless but others find very useful to their particular needs.

If the G-37 or other guns are not for you then don't buy them but also don't dis it just because it's not to your liking.

  2. I spoke with ISMI and had to question them as to why a G21 magazine spring is the same as for the G19, 23, & 32. They told be that Glock is saving a few pennies on each high cap 21 mag by using an existing spring as opposed to making one for that magazine specifically. Makes sense to me when you are talking about thousands and thousands of mags but the problem is wrong fit to the point where the spring will sometimes bind up and under powered.

ISMI has a solution that they do not advertise, purchase their Para Ordnance mag spring and clip one coil from the bottom. Well I tried it and it works great. The spring fits side to side and front to back like a glove and can't bind up. It requires 3 hands to install the base plate but it works a lot better. If you have a base plate insert with the wings on them you will have to cut them off or get some new flat base plate inserts.

They have a G21 mag set up like this that has been fully loaded for over a year and when they test it, it has lots of power to spare and the uncompressed spring is just shy of it's original measurements.

Give it a try and soon you will be converting all your 21 high cap mags over to their Para Ordnance mag spring setup.

  3. I load the 45GAP on my Dillon 650 with Lee dies including the FCD. The FCD will adjust down far enough to crimp the case with room to spare. Dillon now also sells a drop tube adapter for the 45GAP for both the 650 and 1050. I have loaded over 2000 rounds and all function 100% in the gun and measure within specs on the calipers.

I load using AA#5 though only Hodgdon powders have official listed data. Lost of info can be found at WWW.45GAP.COM.

  4. Any Glock with a Glock factory barrel can blow up even with factory ammo. I say a Glock factory barrel because they are much less supported chambers them a good aftermarket barrel but even these are not fully supported. I also say even with factory ammo as it does happen, I have seen a G21 do that with am Americ load, but 99% are from reloads that are either pushing the limit or brass that should have been thrown out.

I am not against either, if I did not reload I could not afford to shoot much and if I had to replace a barrel on every Glock I bought I could not afford to own an assortment of Glocks.

  5. I don't think they work with the reduced power striker spring or at least they don't in the 5 Glocks I have with reduced power striker springs. It does work with the standard striker spring but the trigger pull benifits more from the reduced power striker spring and standard trigger spring.

  6. Started to notice too many smilies on my 45GAP brass after being loaded to near max so I customized some Lyman dies and shell holder to size the brass just above the rim. I had extra carbide 45ACP dies from Lyman, Lee and Dillon. Close inspection showed that the Lyman carbide ring had the least bevel angle or the sharpest shoulder, so I placed the die in my lathe and cut down the die body to the carbide ring. I then took an extra shell holder and cut it down to leave just enough lip to with stand the force needed to extract the sized brass, aprox 0.075”. The shell holder is square with the brittle carbide sizing ring and adjusted it so it just barely makes contact with a cartridge pressing upward on the die and ram. I can now size the brass below the extractor bevel. Note if you end up pulling the carbide sizer ring out you can reattach it with Loctight automotive sleeve retaining compound, this will never let loose.

You could go to a local machine shop and have this done for $20.00 or so. It requires very little setup and is easy to do. I found the Lyman die to work best but RCBS or others may be about the same, obviously Dillon is the worst.

P.S.: Placed here as this is mostly a Glock issue. Moderator move as you see fit.

  7. An easier way to change the powder measure to the old style of operation is to just take the bend out of the anti cam; this is the gold colored piece. Bend it straight so it does not do anything but serve as a large washer and works only to hold the failsafe rod. Then add two springs that can be purchased at most any hardware store and you’re done. I have done this to 3 of the newer powder measures and it works just like the old ones.

  8. I bought a couple of Glockmisters competition trigger springs and they don't have enough power to fully return the trigger to the point that the trigger safety can engage. I bought 3 of them but all are the same. They do help make a lighter and crisper break but leave the gun in an unsafe state, as the trigger will not fully return forward, so I put the stock spring back.

Has anyone have any experience with this situation?

    Thanks

  10. I just bought one this past week to crimp my 45GAP rounds. I have been using Dillon dies for all the calibers I load on my 650 until now. I think it is much easier to adjust and it provides a good crimp. The added benefit is that it will size any rounds out of spec as you withdraw the round from the die.

So far I see it as a win win die.

  11. I compared the Wolff and ISMI 15lbs springs and guide rods side by side. The 15lbs springs are defiantly the right springs for this gun and I had way too much spring with the 19lbs, though it functioned 100% with it it bucked a lot more. The factory spring was about the same as the 19 as far as recoil and sight recovery. The ISMI 15lbs spring and captured guide rod seemed to have a definite edge over the Wolff 15lbs spring and guide rod. The gun just seemed smoother and was a bit quicker on recovery.

I think I will be switching my other Glocks to the ISMI setup over time and I will also try the 13lbs spring in the G35 with my next order. I can't imagine it being much better as the gun recovers much quicker with the 15lbs spring.

Again thanks to everyone for your input.

  12. I ordered a 15lbs Wolff and a 15lbs ISMI spring and captured guide rod to function with it, and I have the stock spring also. I will put the gun through it's pases with all three spring setups with the differant amo I use. I will post the results this week weather providing.

Thanks again for al the great input on this subject.
