  1. Hehe sorry I did the same.. That is I read the end of your post after I already posted my last response! Chris G.
  2. I think you're mixing what I said up. I sold my XD in favor of purchasing an M&P. Thanks for put in the info gentlemen. Chris
  3. I did the same thing with my XD pistol a while back when I first bought it.. that is, I first send it out to have a trigger job done. The reason for this is because most of the drop in kits don't lower the trigger pull significantly. On that subject, can anyone also name a gunsmith who can buiold an extremely light pull pistol, specifically 2.0 lbs no higher. Also, is that possible with these pistols, because the gunsmith from Powder River said the lowest he could get it was around 3.5 Thanks for your responses, ahead of time. Chris G
  4. I'm curious to hear about the shooters who have qualified as Master or GM using a Trubor or Trubor variant....i.e. Steelmatch. I ask because I feel it'd be a bad idea to spend almost 5k on my first OPEN gun, This way, if I bought a Trubor I would have a gun to practice and compete with while saving money and getting experience. I understand that it has a lot more to do with the competitor than the gun, but I'd be mor... Thanks for you time. Chris G.

  6. I was searching for a Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa 5.1 and found this. http://www.mannyusa.com/Firearms_Training/product/Caspian51AKB.html Is it basically the same thing or should I find an exact TM hi capa match? I'm not looking to spend much more than $120 so this would work great if it's just as good as a TM. Thanks for any future replies. Chris G.
  7. Does anyone know the weight of the standard full size open pistol that JPL Precision builds and if it compares to the weight of the other custom Open pistols in it's price range.. i.e. bedell, brazos..etc.$3700 price range.. Thank you.
  8. I'd like to download this for my Kindle but there's nothing available on Amazon and I was wondering if anyone knew of another location to purchase it from? Or a used paperback that anyone might be looking to sell.
  9. As said, I like the isosceles stance most but tend to put my weak hand foot (left) out front a bit more than my right, just for stability. I guess you would call that a, modified? Isosceles ?
  10. Will this http://www.mannyusa.com/Firearms_Training/product/Caspian51AKB.html work with an Open Style Holster or is the barrel going to be too small diameter and I'll be forced to purchase an airsoft specific one?
  11. So i'm trying to exhaust any possible training techniques to use/do at home. Aside from dry fire stuff I came to the conclusion that airsoft may be a good way to go with targets from BAM for USPSA Practice. My question is what is a good choice to best replicate an Open 5" full size pistol with functioning slide (all metal gun) which will work with a CR Speed Open pistol holster (WSM II for example) and where I can purchase one? I did some searching on the site and online and have found a few resources, but wanted to hear what you all have to say. Ty. Chris
  12. Sorry. Did a quick search and didn't find anything.
  13. Isosceles, weaver, modified weaver, something different than these? Just curious. Until reading a few books recently I never really put a name to the way I naturally found best suited for the way I shoot. The Isosceles stance is how I seem to naturally find most comfortable and accurate.
  14. More efficient training - you get more reps doing the most important, and most often missed part of the reload. I would also not recommend doing reload practice with a timer. Okay. What's wrong with using a timer? It gives you something to aim for (no pun intended), a goal.
  15. What is the purpose of doing a burkett reload as opposed to a full reload?
  16. You know, after reading this, Kevin's reply and thinking through it, I've changed my mind about the blind reload. Sure, it might be a nice parlor trick, but it doesn't apply at all to what I hope to achieve during a COF - unless the COF states I have to wear a blindfold . I've been shooting single stack lately and reloading a lot. I rarely miss a reload but when I do, it's because I went looking for the next target or something before I see the mag into the gun. Sort of like the wide receiver looking upfield (or for the strong safety) before catching the ball. As long as I have eyes, I might as well use them. Sorry for the late reply but... YES! That's the answer I was looking for.. Thank you for the input.. I honestly wasn't sure if it might help or not. As stupid as that might sound.
  17. I was under the impression you should be focussing on the front sight before anything else..?
  18. John Larson (JPL Precision) does the ball detent style standard on any and all of his slide rackers.
  19. First off.. Jon: Thank you very much for doing that. Second... I spoke to Bobby for a little while on the phone and he seemed like a straight up guy and answer all my questions adequately. I just wanted an unbiased opinion and/or from someone who's had him build them a gun first hand.
  20. Springfield XD 5". I have Dawson black frnt and rear iron sights and I primered and painted the front site white and left the rear black. Work well enough.
