  1. The Lone Star Innovations safeties are excellent!
  2. Just today had a problem with hammer follow/run-away-auto-fire on my home build during a match. Figured it out to be a over travel screw that worked its way forward over the last 3 matches. Since my trigger bow was allowed to travel too far I started having A LOT of trouble. Fixed and lock tighted the over travel screw and everything was right in the world. One thing to check.
  3. 4.0 grains of N320 under a Bear Creek 200 LTC loaded to 1.185" makes about 170 PF for me.
  4. I had Jimmy work on my 2011 and his work was excellent! I will continue to use him for future work.
  5. I worked up a Major load with 200 LTC Bear Creeks: 4.0 gns N320 1.185" ~172 PF last I checked at 90 degrees
  6. Hi All, I just purchased a 4" 625 and I am really drawn to the blue laminate Nill grips. However, I am having some trouble deciphering the Nill website. I am looking for this grip: While looking at the Nill site, I see three different product codes and descriptions. I just want some clarification that SW016SH4 is the correct item I am looking for. Can any Nill owners chime in? Link to page 5 of Nill's website: http://www.nill-shop.com/index.php?cPath=81000&sort=3a&page=5
  7. Started shooting USPSA 8 months ago and definately having a blast! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9E6hDqMhQ1Q
  8. Wait, drop in and cut for SV trigger? If they work well with SV mags, Count me in!
  9. Alright, I see them now. Are they the model SW036SH4S? Who did you get them from?
  10. I have to know, who makes the grips?
  11. Shot this one last weekend: I shot it sitting down. Limited C Class: 26 points, 5.59 sec., 4.65 HF. CmCalc says 66.43%. #1 in limited for this local match.
  12. I shoot 4.0 grains of N320 with 200 Bear Creeks at 1.800" for a ~170PF. Confirmed over a chrono last summer.
  13. If you go with ESS, use the VIP code "SL 30" (without " ") for 30% off your order. I do not work for them, just passing along good info.
  14. I have had them since late May and they have worked well with SV tubes for me.
  15. I just started reloading .40 with 200 Bear Creeks recently and ran into the same situation. Now, I just chamber check every single round in my barrel for matches and toss the "fat" rounds into the practice/plinking bin. The average seems to be about 5% of mine get relegated to practice/plinking duty.
  16. Would the aluminum grips be more likely to get along with SVI magazines? I had to take quite a bit of material out of mine to get them to drop free...
  17. In all honesty, the more I shoot the 200s versus the 180s, the less my rookie mind sees the difference (aside from slide speed). However, I am using less powder with the 200s and using less N320 is definately easier on the wallet than using a higher charge with the 180s. I have not made any calculations, but the savings is probably a wash. As for an update to my "problem." I opened the second box of 200 Bear Creeks to find that most of them mic to about .4015 (I found that many of the other box was the same way and I simply did not research enough before asking questions). Luckily, the same gentleman that I got the firearm from has a throating reamer and I will be able to ream out the throat a little more this week so I can start worrying about the gun and start working on me!
  18. It is certainly a nice change. Wind does not mess with you much in this game!
  19. Funny to see you here Stan! Looks like we both got the USPSA bug after playing with the long guns!
  20. I have loaded 180 JHPs for my other .40 for over a year now, but listened to my dealers' recommnendation when I got my Edge and they are a lot cheaper. Frankly, I am pressed to see much of a difference, but I have only shot about 100 of the 200 grain Bear Creeks. I did burn up the rest of my 180 HAPs today and I can now say that my Edge does not like to cycle SAAMI length 180s from a fully loaded magazine; however, it did shoot them very well.
  21. Thank you for the reply. Since 90% of my reloading has been for rifles, I under estimated the use of the crimp die. Once I started belling less and giving a bit more crimp my problems went away. The tighter chamber on my Edge has required me to be a little more diligent in the set up process since I do not plan on just being a handgun plinker anymore!
  22. First of all, let me say "Hi" and thanks for all the great info so far. I have been shooting long range F-Class and Sporting Clays for a couple years and decided to add handgun shooting to the mix. So, I bought a STI Edge in 40 S&W to play in Limited, but I have reached a snag. My dealer, who is a locally well known and capable Limited shooter, recommended 200 grain TC Bear Creeks for shooting major so I took his advise. Here is where I have reached my dilemma, I made a few dummy rounds with the 200s at 1.200" and dropped them into my removed barrel and got the characteristic "no go" (case head stops well above the end of the chamber). Ok, so that was too long. However, after I tried 1.190", 1.180", and 1.170", and achieved similar results, I tried 1.135". My results were the same and I noticed a unique marking on each bullet after giving them a push. The mark is a shaving off of the Moly coating on one side. After this discovery, I tried several of my 180 grain HAP loads at 1.135" and they dropped and fell out flawlessly. Sized brass without a bullet drops in and out freely as well. So I have some questions: 1. Does this mean my barrel is throated too short for the 200s to be loaded long? 2. Are the 200 TCs the wrong profile for my barrel? 3. What may I be missing here? I have some pictures, but I cannot post them since the forum software says I do not have enought posts yet.
