Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Sorry, Absolut, my mistake - I always call USPSA by the wrong name (IPSC) they're shooting USPSA - your gun should be fine. Jack That's a relief, thanks for the clarification! Even if it was IPSC I own a Springfield Loaded 1911 to run single stack with, but my 5.25" is new and I'd like to practice for 3 gun with it (it's replacing my 1911 in Tac Optics class setup). The only ruleset I don't dovetail with is IDPA, but I know I'm preaching to the choir for a lot of the shooters here.
  2. Dynamic shooting meaning drawing from a holster, shooting on the move, and transitions between multiple weapons. I'll have to check out factoryville, too bad they're IPSC my Springfield 5.25 doesn't qualify for production class under their rules, but USPSA qualifies it as production.
  3. I have been shooting competitions for several years now, but I have still never found a club or range where I can practice dynamic shooting. Pennsylvania state game land ranges have a very clear set of rules which do not allow for this type of practice. It is always good to stay sharp on fundamentals, but the only competition practice I get is at competitions- I would like more. Are there any shooters from this area who know of ranges or clubs I can travel to that encourage dynamic practice? I know a lot of law enforcement ranges do this, but I am not a law enforcement officer. I am located near Scranton, but a drive is not out of the question. Thank you for the help!
  4. Was there ever an answer here as to the best "big bolt release" button question? It seems like everything recommended was a rigged up Benelli button.
  5. Hey guys, thanks for taking the time to read my thread and welcome me. I'm a shooter from Pennsylvania, I've been competing for about 3 years now. I've shot Multigun, IPSC, USPSA, never IDPA (I don't really have fun under their ruleset, specifically mag changes and the whole concealment under a fishing vest thing). My main competition pistol is a Springfield Loaded model 1911, with a few small extras, nothing major. I recently purchased a Springfield XDM 5.25 in 9mm for my Multigun setup, also so I can run Production division USPSA. My shotgun is the FN SLP MK I - a model I know catches a lot of flak, but I love that shotgun and it works well for me. I do have one question - is there a way to find local events in the events announcement subforum? It seems like everything from all over the country is lumped into one forum.
  6. If the barrel length is 5.25" (133 mm) then it can't be used for IPSC Production Division. Great to know, thanks for the help guys!
  7. Great to know. Yes, I am in the US. I do know that some events I've run have classified based on IPSC rules, which is why I suddenly got concerned. Most shoots I attend are governed by the USPSA rules, so that answer covers the majority of my shooting.
  8. Does the length violate the IPSC production division rule about 127mm max length rule? I'm pretty sure it's ok for Tac Optics in USPSA multigun so I didn't ask but if anyone knows I'd love some reassurance.
  9. I recently purchased a Springfield XDM 5.25 in 9mm for competition. I see a lot of topics in this forum discussing this pistol, but I'm not sure which classification I can run under. Can I shoot production division in all the major rulesets? IPSC has that 5 inch limit on production class, if I'm not mistaken. I have seen that people shoot the 5.25 in production class in the other leagues, but I don't know what to expect from IPSC. I do not intend to modify the pistol whatsoever, it will stay in factory condition. I know it is a popular choice to modify it and move to limited or open, but I would like to stay in production class.
