Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I have both machines and am wondering if I should set up one over the other? I was thinking of using the 1050 for 223/556 but if the 9mm runs easier on it I can use it for the 9mm also. I have an extra shellplate and a toolhead for it already. So what say ye? And maybe why? Thanks in advance!
  2. WOW- all I can say is wow! The guy I got this from really did a great job of packing- so much so I took pictures! He made a wood box that was wrapped tightly by a cardboard one. Everything was packed so well! Now for the nitty gritty, I got three caliber conversions of 223,243,22-250 ,both large and small primer set ups. I am excited now!It does not seem close to being wore out at all! I called dillon and ordered a strongmount , a bullet tray and the zirk conversion. They are sending out the newer aluminum shellplate holder upgrade like was mentioned and a couple of the tool head pins. I need to go through it and set it up etc but its in great shape, Now to go through the pile of parts!
  3. well wooo hooo! I am excited, I just got a tracking number for the press! dealing from an non local add is sometimes risky and I have been really blessed so far but I am always a little nervous especially when dealing with some non computer folk. The add I answered for my 65o was placed by a mans son I thought but it seems was his daughter- oops They forwarded dads name n number and I talked to him and felt comfortable enough to send a MO and I called after I sent it and once over the weekend but did not hear back until yesterday morning. My MO was due yesterday, he informed me it was packed and waiting on the mail and if it get there early enough he would ship. I asked for a tracking number and did not get one yesterday nor did I get the update of the MO arriving... I waited for a phone call yesterday and this A.M telling me the mo got there etc but did not get one... I was disappointed but not freaked out yet. Well I just got an email informing me of shipment from the daughter with a tracking number etc Apparently they got the MO and shipped yesterday and the press is due TOMORROW I feel a bit of relief with tracking info that is correct, I always do when the tracking works out. The chances of things being bogus at this point are a lot smaller in my mind. Now to get her straightened out and to take inventory. I will then have to decide what I am to load on it. I believe it has a .223 shellplate and a .308 one so right off I am good for 223,308,45 acp etc I want to set up for 223 pretty bad as I need to load for it and the little lee is not great for it at all and the 45 and 308 can be used too... with multiple mouths to feed for all those calibers anyhow
  4. I was looking at the picture I got of it and it seems to have the powder return rod assembly on it. I guess it may be newer or updated compared to what I thought or was told. I guess I won't know for sure until it gets here....
  5. well I will se what its like when it gets here. I will see what little parts get lost and what is there. I may be getting 2 shell plates and three toolheads With powder measures. I believe he is keeping the dies... which is fine by me! If I can't figure it out or if I think it has issues a trip to arizona just may happen! I am somewhat excited. I am likey gonna get a Lock n load too to go with this one so it should be interesting! heck it will be interesting on ots own merit- who am I kidding? I need to get a bench area set up and run a few rounds for real through the sl900 too while I am at it! Thanks for the help guys! It is appreciated!
  6. I believe you can reload decent shells with the 450 as is as long as ya have the right caliber conversion and dies... it will not be as fast as the 550 but you say you do not need or want to progressive reload yet so it may be that the 450 might be a better start than ya think! I believe for the cartridges it is as I said- the right shell plate and the right dies. I am not sure if the powder measure will throw the charges you want but I believe it should... someone with more experience may change that... dillon will help you out too!
  7. Hello, I am new to the forum but not reloading. I have reloaded for almost thirty years and have rockchuckers, lee 1000's as in multiples and actually a dillon 550 I got before a move 12 years back that I never did set up yet. I am getting back into shooting a bit and decided I deserved some newer better progressives so the search began.... I ended up buying a dillon sl900 and a dillon 650 separately but both in the last month. The shotgun press was advertised as a 650 shotgun re-loader so I gambled and it turned out to be a great deal on a sl900 instead of the 650 I really wanted. Well last week I found a 20 year old 650 I bought and it should be here in about 7-10 days... both have the case feeders The question is other than the spent primer update are there any other updates I need to look for or make sure I get for the 650? I have run a few empties through the sl900 and if the 650 is as smooth as it is I am gonna be in heaven once I get the 650 tweaked! Supposedly its a little dusty- dusty dirty and NOT rusty I can handle- single guys aren't afraid of a little- or a lot of dust so I know of the spent primer update, it needs a strong mount or me to make a similar one... so tell me - what else? Thanks in advance and God Bless-paul
