  1. Could this same thing be accomplished using a Fire Stick and mirroring the scoring device? Maybe adding a bluetooth keyboard?
  2. I have shot a pump and regularly compete with a lever rifle. The only challenge I had with the pump I was running was the tendency to short stroke it and jam it up real good. That is the only negative thing I have to say about using a pump. They are fun, if she is comfortable running it then I would encourage her to shoot it.
  3. We struggled with this for the first 2 years that I ran the club. We went back and forth on appropriate fees and have finally settled on $10 per gun. At our shoots lunch is includes in that fee and first time shooters with us shoot free. It seems to work for us.
  4. We have been using Kindles for about two years. We host a State level match once a year and use the kindles for our monthly matches as well. We have experienced some issues that I can share. 1) heat- they heat up and quit working when the OA temp is above 85 or so. To mitigate that we have the squads keep them out of direct sunshine and close the cover between stages. It is amazing how doing these two steps makes the devices run better and longer. 2) WIFI- after we do our initial sync and before we distribute the devices to the stages/squads we turn on "airplane" mode. This saves the batteries and allows them to work for a full day. We have 10 devices and I think we have a couple that are starting to have battery life issues, due to poor management techniques early in their lives. 3) Sunlight- This is the bane of our existence. In bright, direct sunshine they can be hard to read. Especially with polarized glasses on. It seems that some eyes are better than others but again, creating a shadow with your body seems to be enough to allow them to be used. We have borrowed another clubs Nook NST and they worked great, but still have occasional issues. Overall, I would say that a little education goes a long ways towards making people comfortable using anything that is new.
  5. Rattlesnake Steel Shooters have a match once a month. They follow International Steel Shooters Association rules and guidelines. There are clubs in Ephrata and the Yakima area that run steel events as well on a monthly basis. You can shoot 3 weekends a month and travel for less than 2 hours to get to them. There are others in the state but those are the 3 that come the closest to what you asked about.
  6. Hotel booked. Ammo secured. Squad selected. Multiple guns selected to take. Who else is going to be there? Grant
  7. Depends on your affiliation, I suppose. If you are running under ISSA then you have 4 stages that are there to be enjoyed and people will shoot them. If you are running under SC you will have 4 stages that are there to be enjoyed and people will shoot them, and you will report and pay your per shooter fee for the two stages. I run ISSA events in WA. My club has seen continued growth in shooter numbers. We do not run the same 8 stages but if you shoot with us for a year you will figure out which stages the match director thinks he is good at! (he isn't but we don't tell him!) The most consistent comment we get from our shooters is, "nice stages today." It is more than just setting out 5 plates and saying go shoot.
  8. I am looking for a steel challenge or Rimfire Challenge match in Utah on the 12th of September. My family is making a trip down for the weekend and I would like to shoot something on that Saturday. Thanks for your help! Grant
  9. I picked up a little something new that might make an appearance. Bringing at least two other shooters with me tomorrow.
  10. Washington is a great state to shoot in! Welcome!! What part of the state do you live/shoot in?
  11. The group that runs the matches in Ephrata has decided to not affiliate with Steel Challenge. They are running under International Steel Shooters Association rules and guidelines. This year marks the second year that they have been doing so. Sorry for the redirect of your thread. I am very excited that you decided to shoot on the Saturdays of the months listed! I am hoping to make at least one of them, depending on work schedules.
  12. WA State Steel Championship Hopefully that is the link to the WA State Steel match. Come on out and enjoy our match.
  13. Last year my club used practiscore to sign people up for our state level shoot. The challenge we ran into was allowing more than one gun to sign up. The match total $ would only allow one gun or multiples of the same price, no reduced fees for the second gun. Does anyone know of a work around or another system that might work for us?
  14. Along those lines I still recommend MGM. They have been incredible to work with and offer a quality product. If you are transporting to the range all their stuff breaks down pretty flat. Easy to stack up and give you plenty of target options with just changing the target face. I find it very nice to be able to change the post length and get a different look and transition pattern. My .02 cents Grant
  15. Last weekend we hosted our first 3 Gun Nation shoot for the season. When I built the match I did it on my iOS platform. I got everyone registered for the match and then sent the match to the kindles for scoring the match. The kindles didn't receive them as 3gunnation matches, but rather as USPA matches. the penalties weren't there, the scoring was difficult. I see that 3 Gun Nation isn't an option when building a match in the kindles. Is there an update coming for this or am I missing something easy?
  16. We had a great time putting this on. We are very happy with ISS association. Thank you to all the people who came out to to support us.
  17. We are hosting our 3rd of 4 3GN matches on July 5th. Come out and enjoy 5 stages of 3 gun fun and competition. Round count is subjective to the shooter and your personal choices but 100 per gun should be pretty safe. You can always take it home with you. We will have 2 qualifiers for 3GN included in the match and we will include your lunch in your shooter fees! Message me here if you have more questions. Grant
  18. Ephrata Steel Shooters are hosting the WA state steel championship at the Boyd Mordhorst Memorial Range on Sept. 13th. https://clubs.practiscore.com/wa-state-steel-championship/register Follow the link and come enjoy a great day of shooting on the dry side of Washington! Grant
  19. I will have to try the belly mount. I looked at the chameleon but I couldn't see doing quad loads with it. I have them pretty well down on the IP rig.
  20. Saturday, May 3. Check out the announcement on the 3GN website. We have some room left in this match. Grant
  21. Looks good, did you have to drill in the mounts?
  22. I got the Invictus Practical vest and I am loving it but I have a problem. I put it where I want it, right below the armpit level, but as soon as I move it drops to my waist. Has anyone else had this problem? What have you used to fix it? Should I just bag it and get belt mounted shell holders? Thanks.
