  1. I've got a few more factory parts I will be adding on shortly. Again if there's something you can't find on my store that you need. Send me an email and there's a chance I"ve got it.
  2. So I've been working on a new store to accommodate all my international customers better. I get a lot of emails from all over the world and there is always some confusion if EAA Witness is the same as the Tanfoglio pistols. And of course, they are the same. The Tanfoglio is made in Italy and imported to the United States by EAA (European American Armory). http://www.tanfoglioparts.com is now live and has more parts available. It is set up to accept international addresses etc. New and expanded product areas: Double Action Trigger Double Action Interruptor Gold Custom Ambi / Single Thumb Safeties Small Frame 170mm magazines for 9mm Aluminum Grip panels for small frame pistols X-Long overtravel screw for trigger Stainless screw for mag well (to dress up the gun) Sight Black Spray Soon there will be a duplication of these pages on my www.henningshootsguns.com shop as well. They both link to the same shop, but tanfoglioparts.com is a tanfoglio only type store. of course available to customers everywhere; us and international. Also more after market parts are in the works. Next couple of days I will be working with my machine shop in Evergreen to develop better aluminum grips. They will have a nicer look and feel. If there is anything you're missing or looking for, just give me a call at (720) 352 1080. ;-) Henning
  3. Have complete kits to upgrade your magazines: USPSA Limited H-141 pad + Grams follower/springs will give you instant 21 + 1 rounds in the 40 S&W magazines. For USPSA legality you have to shave the back of the magbody's feedlips just slightly. Kit $50.00. IPSC Standard H-520 pad + spring kits gives you either 18 + 1 or 19 + 1. Both kits available in the store at $55.00. IPSC Open H-170 pad + spring kits gives you 29 + 1 in 38 super rimless. Kit $55.00. Complete magazines available in the magazine section. Also have some few H-171 pads which are 0.050" longer than the H-170. You can fit this to a 170mm mag tube, shave the back of the lips and it'll be slightly easier to load and reload to 29 rounds. But for IPSC you'll need the H-170 and it is legal without modifying the magbody. Both gets 29 rounds, just the H-171 pad gives little more room. Have a great weekend

  5. Rob, right about that. Well that shit's coming off this winter..
  6. Just made it back from the fight and the after party. It was an amazing fight. Rob won by TKO mid into the second round. He totally dominated the fight which was up against undefeated Elliott Marshall, Denver's golden boy. Elliott had him in an arm lock which looked scary at one point, but Rob is so strong he lifted Elliott and himself out of it. He slammed him repeatedly into the ground and the referee stopped the fight when Rob was throwing punches after punches at Elliott on the ground. The fight is supposed to be on HDnet later on and someone said FOX tomorrow night. Rob had a great support team with his trainers and close buddies from Toronto, my friends Mark and Lisa from Gym Jones (his conditioning coaches), and Colorado shooters Greg Drobny and myself. It was an ecstatic night and we are all so proud he beat Marshall which was the hyped favorite to win. Marshall had the home-turf advantage, elevation, supporters and promoters backing him. Rob is now the World Champion of Ring of Fire Light Heavyweight and we will probably see him shooting an IPSC gun in the near future. He got to check out a ton of machine guns courtesy of Alan Samuel of www.machineguntours.com and various IPSC 3-guns from my own arsenal. He works as a police officer in Toronto.
  7. He is a super-nice guy and so is Elliott he is fighting. Here's a picture from the weigh-in last night:
  8. One argument for allowing 357 Sig in IPSC standard is that magazine capacity will be the same as 40 S&W. 38 Super would let you get 1, maybe 2 more rounds in the mags. What will minimum bullet weight be? If 357 Sig is only allowed in countries where 40 S&W is not allowed then I think that's a great thing. Allowing 38 Super in major will open a can of worms and next thing we'll see other countries wanting that too. From a competitive stand point the question is why you would want to. Now, I've only shot my open loads in my 38 super Limited gun so they weren't made for limited so they were horribly stout loads. If you did make a 38 super limited load you would want a fast powder, not a slow powder we use for open class. A disadvantage for 357 Sig vs 40 S&W is the smaller diameter bullet when scoring. You can overlay and get more 40S&W touching the scoring line than the smaller .38 round. Per USPSA rules I can get 24 + 1 rounds in my 141mm 38 super mags vs 21 +1 rounds in my 40 SW mags. For some 3-gun matches where they don't score major/minor I will shoot my 38 super minor limited pistol over my 40, only due to capacity.
  9. So from your post I'm not sure if you have a 9mm or a 357 Sig? You are making the 9mm into a 357 Sig, yes? It may just work fine with the 9mm breechface. Tanfoglio is pretty forgiving. Instead of switching out the barrel, you could have a gunsmith open the breechface a little bit. You'll want to put in a 40S&W extractor, though the 9mm extractor will probably work good. When you're at it, pick up my 19 round IPSC kits for your mags: http://henningshootsguns.com/shop/eaa.elite.magpads.html I ship international, just type in your complete address. I'll have my store re-configured for international shipment soon. Another good upgrade is the X-Long firing pin and a Wolff 13lb hammer spring. It'll lighten up your trigger and guarantee 100% ignition.
  10. What kind of extraction problems are you having? Is it leaving the case in the chamber? If it does, try filing down the knob that controls how much tension you're getting on the case. See my article on how to adjust a 38 super RIMLESS extractor. The same principle goes for 9mm and you can file it down to the same measurements (0.045"). How old is your extractor spring? If it's seriously old and used, maybe you're not getting enough tension from your spring. Did this solve it or not ? If not... does the case get jammed in the slide? Okay, if it does, look for a black mark at the bottom of your slide. If you have one of those, the case exits too low. This means the ejector may need to be filed to push the case out higher. Its a relationship between the ejector and the extractor. Both should be slightly changed / filed to push the case up and out higher. Another thing you can do which is a little more drastic, but will improve reliability drastically is to dremel and polish the ejection opening of the slide. Remove all sharp edges. I've done this on my 40 without changing the extractor/ejector and nothing gets stuck anymore. None of this helps? Probably want to send it off to Canyon Creek, EGW or someone who knows the guns very well. I've always been able to fix extraction / ejection problems, but it may be time consuming and require lots of ammo. Ultimately you can't tell for sure you've got all problems fixed until you can shoot 500 - 1000 rounds w/o any hickups. Good luck
  11. So for those of you who are interested in ultimate fighting championship, this coming Saturday December 1st, Rob MacDonald from Toronto, Canada is fighting Colorado's Elliott Marshall. Rob is a good friend of my friends at Gym Jones and has been working with GJ's Lisa to get in even better shape. Gym Jones has become famous for training the actors in the movie 300. On Lisa's request I picked Rob up at the airport this afternoon and hosting him at my house for the next couple of days until his trainers get here. He will be working out at the local gyms, including my former boxing gym; Front Range Boxing. Main goal for the next couple of days; shed 20lbs to weigh in at 205lb by Friday night. Glad I don't have to do that.. Rob's a great guy so it'll be an honor to cheer him on at his fight on Saturday. 12. On the ext safety thing. It seems as Tanfoglio changes the setup of what comes on a gun from year to year. EAA try to be consistent in what is displayed on their website as Tanfoglio might change the configuration on the same models from year to year. I've always gotten mine with ext safeties, but then again I also specifically order each gun for myself with a certain setup so I may not always be up to date on what factory is. Last year all Limited's came with alu grips which was awesome and even early models this year did. Then mid-year it changed and they all came with wood grips. I think this is due to the new model, the Custom Limited which helps make the two models stand apart more. Same thing happened with Stock and Stock II. The Stock II has adjustable sights, which Stock in the past used to. Now the Stock has a different set of adjustable sights.
  13. When I first came over to the US and Mesa, Arizona in 1994, to shoot [at the Rio Salado range] I got to know Nyle and his family right away. Nyle was one of the first people to invite me over to his house. My and my buddy Ivar who had both quit our jobs to spend six months in the US to fully focus on shooting were taken aback by Nyle and his wife Carol's hospitality and friendliness. They invited us over for food, talk about shooting, life and made us feel very welcomed to the United States. Those were truly great days of my life and it felt truly incredible to be welcomed in such a way. Nyle and I have been great friends since and seen each other trough the years at shooting matches all over the world and of course at the Rio Salado range. I've been over at his house a few more times since 94 and when Rob told me at the Desert Classic that Nyle was sick, Brian and I drove over to his house and spent a couple of hours talking over a wide span of topics with him. He was in great spirits, entertained us with his stories, knowledge and we got to relive many memories. A huge resource of information he told us about things about shooting, Arizona history, Dillon, pictures and people we otherwise would never have know about. We are all surprised he passed away so quickly, but I am truly appreciative to have known him and that we were able to visit with him one last time. He had a great impact on the shooting community and his family now sits on a tremendous wealth of shooting pictures that I can only hope will be made available in one form or another. In the late 90's I went over to Nyle to look over pictures he's taken through the years and it is an archive that is unbelievable. It documents the evolution of our practical shooting sport in a way beyond you can imagine. I think it would be great if his shooting pictures were made available online so that we can browse, pick and download the original raw pictures. Personally I'm willing to pay for them and I think others will too. Nyle has given me pictures he's taken of me from matches in the past and I know there is a huge resource in his basement that I would love to see made available to the shooting community. Practical shooting is what we love and it is what Nyle loved too.
  14. A quick 'n dirty minor load is using your major load, but replacing the bullet with a 135gr. I've also shot a lot of Armscor 165gr bullets with 4.0 grains of Clays. It's 140PF.
  15. I believe EAA has a small frame 40 conversion kit for your gun. However, and I have to say however... the magazine capacity on the small frame is rather ... low. Not sure exactly what you can squeeze into those mags in 140mm (I do have some CPMI pads for them if you need), but you're going to be at a disadvantage for sure. How about this... as an option... put your money into a new Match 40 S&W and get 21 + 1 rounds in your mags! Call me if you want to mull this over.
  16. Everything is on my website. I have chrome small frame mags and blued large frame mags.
  17. Paul is right about the spring weights. To convert it's KG * 2.2 = LB. The reason I switched to Wolff springs is so that I know exactly what spring I have in my gun and can duplicate my preferred setup from gun to gun. The factory may vary the spring weight they are using from one year to another based on input from their shooters or who knows what. Okay, so you get a couple of springs with the gun, but accessibility of factory springs isn't necessarily guaranteed whereas Wolff is a no brainer. These are the spring weights I prefer (my easy table): Wolff 12lb for Power Factor 180 > Wolff 10lb for Power Factor 160 - 180 Wolff 8lb for Power Factor 140 - 160 Wolff 6lb for Power Factor < 140 I shot our local steel challenge this year in Limited 40 S&W using 165gr bullets factoring in right under 140PF and the Wolff 6lb spring felt a lot nicer than the 8lb. It's a very light spring so functioning isn't guaranteed with this setup unless you've got the gun broken in and tuned right. Mags and ammo better be 100%. At the US Limited Nationals I tested a 12lb spring with my 175PF loads I ended up shooting at the Europeans. I wanted to test and see if a 12lb might feel better than the 10lb, but it didn't. 10lb still rocks for typical IPSC / USPSA loads. So, needless to repeat, but I put a lot of emphasis on what spring I shoot. It ultimately tunes the recoil and my scale is a result of testing. And final testing only becomes valid after proving it in a competition that's important to you.
  18. For the most part stages are easy and doesn't require a whole lot of memorization. At Area 2, stage 1 and 8 definitely required some time to figure out which targets you'd already shot. On stage 1 you could see some targets from 3 different shooting positions (windows). Since you want to plan your loads and preferably shoot the targets from the closest distance or in a group that requires less peripheral movement they become a memory challenge. Of course if you want to make absolutely sure you could always re-engage the targets by shooting everything you see from every window. Not that I would recommend that because it is slower, it is still better than skipping a target (-40 points). I definitely need more than 5 minutes when I'm up against a memory stage and prefer to show up 30 min early or the day before to get a grip on it. Once you fully understand what you need to do it's easy and in your walk through you plan every body movement to be as exact as possible to those specific targets. Lets say from window 2 you are shooting target #6, #5, #3 and #1. Since you got to skip #4 and #2 they become part of your memorization and you visualize and plan your body twist to see them, but move directly onto the correct target. If you have a "loose" plan it's easy to stop on the wrong target, then realize it and now you have to correct. So, strong visualization is key for memory stages.
  19. With the Henning X-Long you should never have a misfire. If you do it's because of something else is off. Most likely (well recent stuff I've come across with people) is the over-travel screw is set so that the sear catches on the half-cock when the hammer falls. This will of course slow down the hammer and cause insufficient force to set off a primer. The hammer at this point is more or less stopped. So back off the over-travel a until you can feel there is no resistance when you hold the trigger all the way in and you manually move the hammer. The other is high primers and there is no way this will go bang. Make sure you're reloading properly and that all primers are set just sub-flush primer pocket. Bad primers do occur on occasion, but always try shooting the round again to be sure. So 13lb hammer spring and X-Long pin should always work. Winchester Small Pistol primers is my favorite and they never seem to put out bad primers.
  20. I also started converting videos from Area 3, US Open Nationals, US Limited Nationals, Mile-Hi Showdown, Texas State Limited and the European Championships is next and will appear soon... so keep checking back next couple of days for more match pictures and videos.
  21. Hey thanks for letting people know. I set the computer on upload on the videos before Brian and I went to lunch and just made it back. Videos of Taran Butler, Mike Voigt, Mark Hanish, Tasha Hanish, Yong Lee, Scott Springer, Maggie Reese and myself are uploaded. At: http://www.henningshootsguns.com/pages/2007_area2.html
  22. Article with videos are up: http://www.henningshootsguns.com/pages/2007_area2.html
  23. Hey thanks ! I had a great time in our squad and at this years match. It was an exciting race until the final stage which is what kept it fun and interesting. Maybe it was Scott who said this, can't remember now, but he said something like "you shot good enough" and it describes it perfectly. It was an up 'n down performance for most of us and in the end I felt it came down to a battle of the wills. I know that feeling when I let it slip and allow my competition to take it from me. Sometimes believing I'm going to take home the victory starts to waiver when it gets tough. It affects my confidence level, calmness and clarity. I kept telling myself [at times screaming inside my head] that A2 is mine. It worked and kept me focused on the task. None of us were unaffected by each others performances so how the match went for Mike, Taran, Mark and myself was definitely influencing us stage by stage. Which is why it's fun to compete.. When you know you have to push your skills to the limit, but stay within so you don't start hoping you're pulling it off it gets a little stressful as we all know.. Mike V commented on Mark's run on a quick speed shoot he pulled off in 3.56 seconds. More or less, "vow" and started to wonder if he could do that himself. btw I had the exact same thought. Then Mike shot it and did it in 3.55 seconds. What it looks like from the outside and how it feels when you are doing it is very different, but when someone pulls off a great performance it affects the spectators. Then it's your turn and you're like... "f*#k it... here we go"
  24. Yeah, the Limited Pro is the "lighter" version of the Limited. For IDPA and even IPSC it's a good choice. You can just change out the barrel if you can get hold of one. I don't have the dimensions of the breechface at hand at the moment which would be the only concern about using a 9mm barrel in a 40 SW slide. Most likely it'll work just fine. Conversion kits available from EAA isn't the same as what you'll find on the PRO or LIMITED. It's slightly skinnier but still works. We're waiting on a lot of models from Italy and I don't know if they got any of the Limited Pro's.
