  1. Rob I will start making the small frame long grips for Stock II shortly. I've realized there is going to be quite a few different grips: Standard Frame - Large: Long grips for Stock, Match, Steel Fullsize (AVAILABLE NOW IN BLACK & SATIN) Standard Frame - Small: Long grips for Stock, Match, Steel Fullsize Custom Frame - Large: Long grips for Stock II, Hunter, Limited Pro Custom Frame - Small: Long grips for Stock II, Hunter, Limited Pro Magwell Grips - Large: Gold Team, Limited, Stock, Stock II, Match, Hunter, Steel Fullsize Magwell Grips - Small: Gold Team, Limited, Stock, Stock II, Match, Hunter, Steel Fullsize (as long as you're using a magwell with these guns they'll fit) So, all in all, 6 different style of grips. They will all have the same contour, but cut differently to accomodate either the straight standard frame, the custom frame which has a wider bottom piece or a short grip for a mag well. Magwell, large grips will be next 2nd grip to become available. The easiest way to pay is with credit card or paypal thru the shop. Email money transfers I don't see a reason to do? If so, help me understand why.
  2. Hey I called Leo from the LV airport so thanks for posting and getting Nemo on the right track. The magwell issue with the two tabs is something that started happening sometime in 2007 when Tanfoglio possibly went to a new vendor or a slight change in the magwell came about. I reported to Massimo (tanfoglio) in person at the Europeans and asked him to get the mismatch magwell/frame fit fixed for future guns. Of course there is probably a lag until these are completely replaced by hopefully an updated magwell. When and if this will happen of course is another issue. The mag release button is also too big in some frames. Easily fixed by taking the upper off, holding the mag release button in and filing it down until it is completely flush with the frame. I've long thought about writing a Tech article about this topic. Another future fix will of course be my perfectly made mag well that will go with the new contour grips... Also, I had a great conversation with the factory at the Shot Show and my contour grips will hopefully soon replace the existing alu grips. This of course means that they will be legal for production division ! They've already received a set and will be submitting them for approval to eliminate any issues. I also had a long talk with John Amidon at the USPSA booth and since my grips follow the contour of the factory wood grips they will already be legal. Rules are hard to interpret which is why I consulted him. But when Tanfoglio have them approved any doubt will forever be erased.
  3. everything is dwindling away... ;-) but it is fun making cool parts so it doesn't suck. I'm back on Tuesday next week. I guess we'll make a verdict by maybe end of next week ?
  4. Looks like each new product will take me about a month to fully develop, I'm asking you to tell me what you want me to start working on next.. Eventually I want to see all these products made available, but some I want before others... Help me decide..
  5. This gun is only imported in 10mm and 45ACP by EAA at the moment. I talked to Sharon this week and told her that ... it is available in all calibers in Europe and the rest of the free world. She was going to talk to the owner and see what they can do. If you are interested in the Hunter in other calibers... give EAA a call and start asking for it. Tell them you saw a great picture of my gun and beg for it in 40 S&W, 38 Super, 9mm or whatever odd caliber you can think of (except those are the only ones that'll ring home). Maybe they'll listen.. And mine (one of my two)... were sent off to Canyon Creek today. I had almost a whole day phone conversation with Rich today and some cool plans are cooking for my project. Here's a few: (1) Rich will attempt installing a 1911 barrel bushing to accurize (no idea how to spell that word... sorry) it to a fine shooter intended for long range hunting (2) hmmm. at least two 45 degree 3" slide lightening cuts. (3) this is where I'm debating what to do... port it or not? Well, no ports = probably higher velocity, but how much? In my fairytale dreams I'm seeing a V20 or V24 ported monster... (by the way I invented the V12 design back on the beaches of Greece in 1998... half a decade later the V8 was a fact) (4) The new micro-Aimpoint on a slick frame-mount (5) Of course... my new H-152 black anodized contour grips will be installed (6) further lightening of slide on the bottom (7) and here is where it might get really cool... some form of camouflage paint job. Rich is on it.. The gun is out the box priced about $1000. I'm seeing with all these mods, a new cool scope, mount, paint job it'll be a $2000 hunting handgun. Wait a minute... I could get a decent custom rifle for that... Off to Vegas in the wee hours... if anyone's going gimme a call at (720) 352 1080. I will be walking around aimlessly with watery eyes drooling on new stuff... I'll have my new grips and other cool stuff if you're interested in checking it out.
  6. Just got my two in yesterday.. sending one off to Canyon Creek to pimp out...
  7. Developing each grip took a long time, mainly because both myself and my machinist wanted the grips to be perfect (we realize there is no perfect, but we try to come close). First out was the long grips because they have some intricate cuts to make the bottom blend nicely with frame. Though of just cutting these to fit magwell, but that's a shame when we made all these long ones so we're making short grips separately. We'll have to make up a separate set of vise grips to hold these when we contour them. So eventually I will also be making these for the small frame as well. But again, there nothing the matter with getting the long ones and cutting them to fit your particular magwell / frame perfectly. Just have to have a saw / tools to do it. You could cut it with a saw and then file / grind until it's flush. We will make a big-ass magwell that blends with these grips. That'll look super sharp.
  8. Just uploaded an article about the grips where I've got a larger picture and some from the machine shop. ;-) http://henningshootsguns.com/pages/2008_contourgrips.html
  9. These grips are now available in the store.
  10. Okay... here they are. I've called them H-152 for the thickness of the grips (0.152"). These will fit these Tanfoglio/EAA models: Match Stock Stock II Limited Pro Steel Fullsize Hunter Available in both satin (clear/natural) and dark grey (light black). They feel super comfortable in your hands and you can use the regular wooden screws that come with your gun. Price is $95 for the set. Lots of details have gone into these grips, including important features like having the inside recess 0.010" inside the frame. This stops the grips from touching the magazines which the factory grips do. Lot of times it is necessary to sand down the factory grips to avoid gripping. They are also machined perfectly for the best possible fit to you frame. Frames are not 100% made the same and we've made these fit to do the frames I had available to me. They would typically be used with griptape (skateboard tape) or used as a starting point for putty if you want to build up your grip like I do. Or they can simply be used as is. They make the gun shine. Two other style grips will be made available soon; short for magwell guns like Limited and Gold Team. The other is a fullsize grip with wood inlays for those who want to make a pretty gun... ;-))
  11. Grips are DONE! Full length grips for Match & Stock in both dark gray / light black and satin / silver will be available tomorrow. Picked them up from the anodizer today and just have to take pictures and put them up on the shop tomorrow. They'll be $95 / set. Short grips will be available in a few weeks, but if you can't wait just get these and cut them to fit magwell guns. It's the same grip, just shorter. I'm gonna take professional pictures, but as soon as there is good daylight tomorrow I'll take preliminary pictures and post them. They are awesome and feel great in my hand. I got some putty so will make that and grip tape available for those who want to play with making a molded grip.
  12. Contact EAA directly and order the barrels.
  13. I thought about making a small part to fill the hole for esthetics, but for function it doesn't matter. It might be hard to make a fill-in piece look good too. You could always weld it up and refinish I guess. I look at my guns as hammers.. they are tools. Nice tools, but still a tool. If you are a competitive shooter, a hard slide stop is a good idea. If you're a recreational shooter you don't need the hard slide pin and stay with whatever looks good.
  14. Hi Hal I assume you've got the small frame 9mm? You could probably cut the spring (make sure you've got spares first...). I always use the Wolff firing pin springs that come in the Wolff recoil spring package. If you've got that, use it. If not, you can get it off my website. I like their springs a whole lot better than factory. For 9mm I would recommend 8lb or 6lb recoil spring. Test and see what you prefer.
  15. Quick update on the grips. We are getting really close. I'm up in the mountains at the machine shop again and we've been working on the outside contour. I have to say it's coming together incredibly nicely. What I'm looking at right now is a very light 'knurled' grip from the machining. I could polish them to a smooth finish but I think it would be nicer with a little bit of 'grip' to it. I'm not a fan of polished grips and prefer a little gripping if I'm not going to do anything else to them. I know a lot of shooters are going to put grip tape over it anyway and the way they are contoured, that will be a great grip. One question to interested parties: would you like the grip anodized in black or clear coat ? At first my thought was clear coat to make it blend with the gun, but now I'm leaning towards a black anodized look to offset the chrome look frame. For blued guns the black will look super nice. And for the upscale grip that we keep thinking about I think a black anodized grip with a wood inlay will look really sharp. Opinions and requests are welcomed so speak your mind. It may affect the final look. Of course I could offer in both clear and black, but the less options I have to stock the better. I already have to stock large frame & small frame. Both in short magwell length and long non-magwell length. I tell ya, the grip for Match & Stock models w/o magwell is going to look really sharp. We've made a couple of prototypes that are 95% there and man does it look cool. Right now the top surface is flat which part of it always will be, but it's also going to have knurled look to it. Kinda looks like really small fish scales. Gives the grip a cool look over a polished surface. If you have very strong opinions (...;-)) then gimme a call at (720) 352 1080 to voice it. I'm done for tonite, going to sleep in the shop and get up early Saturday to go skiing in Winter Park (Mary Jane). It was snowing earlier so could be a great day tomorrow. But I've heard it might get cold... brrrrr... Sunday I'll be back here at the shop and try to finish up our design. When I'm happy and my machinist Scott is happy (he's very picky) then we'll start production. To start we're cranking out 50 sets of grips and I'm already getting a lot of interest, including overseas dealers so they might go quick. I'm set on doing some kind of anodizing which typically takes about 3 days. If all goes well they should be available on my shop the week before Shot Show in Vegas (Feb 2nd - 5th). For those of you traveling to Vegas for the big, fun event, I will have grips with me to show and possibly some for sale. A matching magwell will follow...
  16. yep, absolutely. Already shipped to a bunch of shooters in Australia and New Zealand. Every day I'm getting orders from new countries which keeps opening my eyes to where there are Tanfoglio shooters interested in quality parts.
  17. We do have a DVD in the works. All filming and editing is done. Few more tweaks.
  18. Have a couple of package deals on www.tanfoglioparts.com (only). I will add more package deals soon.. TanfoglioParts.Com
  19. So that was an all nighter... We burned on through with good assistance from Red Bull... By next week I should have "full-length" and "mag well-length" new Henning Grips available for all Tanfoglio / EAA large frame models. Then as soon as those are available we'll start working on the same grips for the small frames. Something I think all international shooters will appreciate. These grips will fit Gold Team, Limited, Limited HC/Custom, Stock, Stock II, Match, Limited Pro, Steel. We've been nit-picking forever to make them with tight tolerances and what we've got so far looks really nice. Beats the factory grip hands down.
  20. So a quick update on the grips. It's my second day (night) here at the shop where we've been redesigning a pair of beautiful aluminum grips for the Tanfoglio pistols. The first grip will be a long (full length) for the large frame. This means you can put a really pretty grip on your Match or Stock that doesn't have a factory magwell (you can still put them on f.ex. a Match with the EGW welded on magwell. I will also have a short grip for the Gold Team & Limited models. It's the same grip, just cut at the bottom. This means if you start out with a gun w/o a mag well and later on want to put a mag well on it all you have to do is cut the grip and it'll look good. (A big ass mag well is another project I will jump on shortly.) So for these grips, to start I wanted to create a grip that looks really good, feels good in your hands and fits perfect. I think there are some imperfections in the factory grip and we've worked hard to fix all that. I've always liked the wood grips, but they are too thick for my hands and when you start sanding them to make them thinner they break. This new grip will have a similar contour to the wood grip and typical 1911 wood grips. Just that they are a lot thinner. So all shooters with smaller hands will love them. And if you like to build the grip up it'll be a great starting point for your own putty project. It will also be real easy to put grip tape directly on the grip without doing anything else. I will also make the same grip for the small frames. The rest of the world seem to use a lot of small frames, especially in 9mm pistols. These grips will slip right on. I've also thought it would be cool with a logo / image / text engraved. If anyone have a cool image / idea please post here or gimme a call / send me an email. I think a simple image engraved in the center of the grip could be nice. You know, just something for the esthetically inclined shooters who wants to dress up their gun(s)...
  21. Hi Jeff, Congrats on the new gun. Give me a call and I can guide you through everything. Today I've been at the machine shop all day working on the new aluminum grips. They're going to be pretty slick.. I'll be working on the all day tomorrow as well, but I'm available on my cell phone (720) 352 1080.
  22. EGW replacement decapping pin now available. Also to let you know I'm working on a new 40 S&W case that will have a higher extractor cut than regular 40 S&W. This along with the EGW Undersized resizing die will make it easier to resize the full length of the case. Typically the "belly" at the bottom of the case is impossible to remove unless you've got a roll-sizer and changing the extractor cut helps and may eliminate this problem. It is a slightly more aggressive solution that what you'll find on the 38 TJ case.
  23. Alright, the main shop is now updates as well with the same look and content as tanfoglioparts.com, but of course it also has AR-15, EGW 1911, Pro-Ears ear muffs etc products. As the year rolls on I'm planning on adding more products to the main shop, but keep a hard-core tanfoglio parts only on tanfoglioparts.com
  24. Next couple of days I'll be working on new aluminum grips for the Tanfoglio / EAA pistols. They will be nicely made and thin. I might make a couple of versions; one with a rough finish that you intend to put putty on and another that is very finished that you could put grip tape directly on it.
