Is there another pistol I should consider for limited ?

If you've got the coin SVI builds nice guns....

CK Arms Thunder or STI DVC... The DVC is just an Edge that is factory "hot rodded" for USPSA Limited.

Or full custom
Freedom Gunworks
Oh and for USPSA forget about 9mm, get a .40

The "smear" makes it sound like the firing pin is not returning back out of the breach face... So the firing pin is binding in the hole or the return spring has an issue.
Do you have another 1911 you can swap out the firing pin and spring and see if it solves the problem?
I'm assuming that you've pulled the firing pin out and checked that it's not bent and cleaned the tunnel spotless...

I'll play....
Turners's just posted their first "Pre" Black Friday ad:

Got a chance to go try this, average time was 3.75 with my Glock 35 shooting factory HP ammo...

Atlas? Haven't used him but he explains what he does here and it looks reasonable:

Following as well....

I'm glad someone is working on new trigger options. I find there are surprisingly few given the history of the 1911. I think the reverse crown or whatever its called looks awesome, and I want to try a hinged trigger some day. I am a little skeptical of the threaded trigger shoe attachment though.
My take is there aren't many options because it was right in the first place...
I'm all for innovation but the hinge trigger looks like a solution in search of a problem.

Still waiting on my dvc. Sure hope it runs Speer lawman 180 grain factory loads. Really don't want to reload, seeing that my ammo is free.
Just grabbed some Duty ammo to check OAL....
1.124 to 1.130 - Fed, Winchester, Remington. Didn't have any Speer...

Brand new? How many rounds though it before the match? Stock spring? Stock mags? What's the OAL of the Aguila ammo? Major FP ammo?
Had about 20 rounds thru it before the match. 12 lb Wilson spring instead of the stock 14#. 2 Stock mags and 1 SV mag with grams guts. I am not sure of the OAL, I can try to measure it tonight, certainly looked short. It was 180gr, at ~1400 FPS according to the specs on the box.
n't
I wonder if the 12 pound main spring didn't contribute to the failure to return to battery? Less stored energy with a new tight gun? It would be interesting to put the 14 pound spring in and see if it solves the problem while the gun is breaking in... -

Welcome... I think that mandrel in the kit will be the key to getting the mag fixed.Thx. Just ordered a kit.

Freedom gun works. You'll never look back.
There's a nice 6" on the Freedom Gun Works Facebook page right now...

I believe CK is lifetime. After all the reading I've been doing after being out of the sport for a decade, CK or FGW is very likely to be my next.
I have Springfield Custom Shop, EGW and MCM guns in the safe from "before" and the support from them was pretty good over all
MCM was fantastic
EGW just "good"
Springfield "good"
I think MCM was better because Matt just wasn't that big at the time and he could give me more attention.
YMMV

I'm guessing from the bullet weights, your's is a 9MM? I've been looking at the .40. Where'd you pick it up? Shooters Connection?
Yea it is a 9mm. I bought it straight from CK Arms due to it having the steel grip. Shooters connection isn't stocking then with the steel grip yet.
Looking forward to a range report when you get that puppy out of gun jail!

Lack of Mags makes Para a non starter for me going forward. I have a Custom EGW Para in .45...it's staying in the safe and I'm going to an "2011" in .40 because I can get Mags for it.

From what I've seen:
Poly grip
.40 major
5"
Full dust cover w/o rail
Cocking serrations/minimal lightening cuts
Yup...
That seems to be the answer
Anything better than a Dawson ICE for a mag well?
And I've seen some with slide rackers That might be handy....or might be a knuckle buster! LOL!!

That's very cool! Thanks for sharing! oh and Good shooting!

Maybe I missed it but have you tuned where the extractor contacts the brass?
Look at the first picture here to see what I'm talking about:
http://www.brazoscustom.com/magart/ejection%20perfection.htm
Looks like you've hit all the other big fixes... but it's a sum of the contact points in the system. Get any advantage you can...

I'm not worried about out running the gun... I know what my shot to shot break times are during a Bill Drill. I do like the gun to cycle and settle quick so I can pick up the sight... My EGW doesn't have any blue left on it... It's not pretty by any stretch but it did run!
