  1. Been reading this thread because I bought a X5 Legion last month and had two case ruptures, extractor disappearance in slightly less than 200 rounds. Yes they were reloads, 4.5 grains of Titegroup with the 115 Hornady HAPs which Hodgden lists as the starting load. Son bought one also and had a rupture and blown extractor in about 200 rounds of the same ammo. Lots of case exposed by the breach like some of the pics on here. Haven’t made it all the way through a match yet
  2. I use the Dillon case lube on an open class 38 Super and it works, I spray mine before every match (192 rounds in a match)
  3. I got the adjustable comb when I bought my 725 but have never had to adjust it from all the way down. I bought a used 425 a with the adjustable comb and had to raise it one spacer. I bought a new BT 99 and had a Graco butpad system and the adjustable comb added aftermarket and it also need one spacer. I figured different guns may need different systems so I get the adjustable just in case I need it, if I don't well ok.
  4. Ron Power built a model 66 for me as the ultimate duty gun (and it was )and I have shot a couple of his PPC revolvers that I thought were the cats meow. Then I actually bought one of Warren Moore's 686 PPC revolvers and shot PPC with it and I think they are every bit as good as the Powers revolvers. Mine was absolutely a masterpiece. After I quit shooting PPC I sold it to another PPC shooter so it would continue tearing up the PPC course (I even shot the Bianchi Cup course with it some and it was awesome there too!)
  5. I had decent luck using Silhouette with 125 grain Extreme plated
  6. Is it possible to change a 6 shot S&W 617 to a 10 shot by swapping the cylinder (if I could find a 10 shot cylinder)?
  7. Warren made one for my MkIII that just slides on the barrel and has a set screw. If I can figure out how to post a pic I will try if you want.(Wish I had seen this post earlier I could have brought it and let you look at it at the Show Me cup)
  8. I have always used Simichrome polish, just a dab of that and a cloth cleans them right up.
  9. Mine do not always drop out and I have to reach up inside the magwell and fish them out. Since I shoot Action Pistol it's not that big of a deal but I used to see weighted baseplates and have not seen them lately. I could just load the mags with extra rounds to add weight but knowing me I would shoot too many times (but only in big matches, usually smooth as silk in practice)
  10. Does anyone know who makes weighted mag baseplates for a 38 super (Bianchi Cup Open Class pistol). All I can find are for Glock or STI 2011's. Mine is a single stack.

    New to Clays

I shoot a 725 sporting clays (32") for sporting clays and I am not all that muscular. Love it and would not hesitate to take it bird hunting. I have the adjustable comb but have not had to adjust it from the factory setting as I am shooting well with it, but intend to hit the pattern board and tweek it if need be. The stock dimensions are different on the field guns and I have a longer length of pull so I like the sporting clays model. Have not tried it for trap yat but intend to, I have a dedicated trap gun I shoot for that game. The 725 seems to shoot flatter than my BT99 trap gun

    Best choke

I use an Improved Modified most of the time. Tried modified for a while but I seem to do better with an improved modified. If the handicap is 23 yds or further I switch to full, but that doesn't happen often on my team
  13. Warren, could you look at it if I brought it to you Monday? My gun has the fluted barrel if that complicates things
  14. Surgi, missed you at the Show Me Cup. I have not put a mover base on mine yet but I probably should huh? What kind of holster does he use that accomodates the wings? I would like to see the mover base/wings if you can post a pic
  15. Anyone know if anyone makes these? I have seen the wings on 1911 rimfires but I have a Mark III 22/45
  16. Last I heard, there is a civilian division for PPC but it falls under the NRA Action Pistol group. Sanctioned matches are there, you just have to find a range/club that runs these events. Don't know why they put it under Action Pistol, guess to keep participation low
  17. How did you hit anything at the Show Me cup. Too danged cold. I am trying 6.0 gr. of Silhouette (Ramshot) with the 125 gr. bullet. Seems too shoot well (hard to tell using my shooting skills), very clean burn that doesn't gunk up the comp and soft shooting. Don't have a chrono so don't know the PF but on paper it should work.
  18. I have read about competitors using some type of magnetic strip or device to hold spare magazines, but have never seen one. Where does one get these and would they work on metal 22 mags?
  19. Please send the info for the Cameron Cup match to kshock56@gmail.com. Are you allowing sign ups the morning of the match?
  20. I deprime using a Lee hand press with a universal depriming die. Could be done while watching TV. Then into the ss media for clean primer pockets.
  21. I am right handed/right eye dominate but developed a vision problem in my right eye which causes a blind spot right where my front sight is. I had to start shooting with the left eye and what I did was simply take a target repair paster and put it on the right lens of my glasses which forced me to use the other eye. Did not take long before it was automatic. This is not legal in PPC matches, but I think it is for most others.
  22. You might want to check out Missouri Bullet Company.Decent prices and depending on the bullet, shoot well. I haven't tried the 9MM yet but getting ready to. Ishoot alot of lead through 38's and and this company's swc bullets shoot well for me. Not alot of smoke but there is some.
  23. After reading this thread I ordered a CompTac DOH for my 5.25. I shoot action pistol so the IPSC rules do not apply for me. Used it this weekend in a match and I really like it. Checked it for fit and ease of draw (per the instructions) prior to using it in a match. Perfect fit as it came from the factory and I did not have to make any adjustments. Good retention but still easy to draw. To early to see if it scuffs the finish but have not seen anything yet.Several guys I shoot with liked it too and will likely buy one too.
  24. Black Dog Industries makes a race holster for that gun (that is what I have too). You can get them at Cheaper than dirt, Midway USA and I think I saw them in the Sportsmans Guide Flyer. As for mag pouches, I have found none made specifically for rimfire mags (I needed one for 8 mags so the single/double leather ones would not suit). I use a divided shotshell (trap shooters) pouch, loaded mags on one side, emptied mags on the other. Has worked well so far but I don't do alot of jumping/running around when I shoot, might not work well for some types of shooting.
  25. I got the F/O front sight from Toolguy for my 617 and just shot a match last weekend....get one of his sights. You'll love it. Just tell him what you are wanting the gun to do and he will fix you up with a great sight.
