  1. I just switched to Taran Tac guts and base pads on my 2011 mags and I have a bunch of unused grams springs can I use those with the Taran followers?

He's local to me here in Cali and I stopped in and he tuned my 2011, mags and gave me a Tshirt to boot!

Thanks in advanced oh here's a pic so the threads not boring!

  2. No way my experience with the U die was horrible and it slows loading to a crawl! Get a grx redding push through in carbide and have your friend have his barrel reamed throated you know what I mean.

Just search u die for forty and you will see everyone's different takes and can see what's more successful. It's a little more money then the u die plus $20 for a cheap single stage but it's well worth it. I have loaded using both so I speak from buying twice and kicking myself for it.

  3. Ah I felt this a few months back. We focus too much on the match and not the fun. I took time off from shooting without stopping the shooting! I have made it a point in the last three matches to bring new shooters with me.

It help me focus on making the match fun from them, focusing on fundamentals and just playing the game with safety and accuracy in mind.

I revisited a guerrilla steel match just this last weekend with 3 fairly new shooters and it was A Complete BLAST!

Really I didn't get to your level but understand that when you get too engrossed with your hobby it stops being fun. Try introducing a buddy to the sport and I bet their enthusiasm will rub off.

  4. Had the same issue with the u die and it caused a hell of a slow down in the loading process. I got the grx so now I load everything using a dillon 550. If anything fails gauge I move those to the single stage with the grx and push em through. About half of those that go through the grx will gauge, but all of them feed just fine in all my .40 barrels. Carbide grx fixes any issues of getting that mystery bulge re appearing after the sizing die.

  5. There are a lot of Springfield Loaded .40s floating around. I picked one up on here in trade for my production GLOCK 34 setup. All I had to do was throat the barrel and I can load out to 1.2 and get magazines. From my research the mags are what tends to hang up 1911s in .40 the most. I went with the Tripp Corey/system mags and the gun runs 100%.the mags are spendy $40 plus each still for what it's worth IMO it was worth the extra dough.

  6. Be careful using nothing but ear plugs. There is a bone behind the ear that helps in hearing. It transmits sounds via vibration just like the drum. Over time exposure of this area can cause hearing loss as well. For me I wear muffs whenever possible.

  7. I'm looking at pistol covers because at the last match I was at it was super dusty and my pistol was left with grit everywhere. Also I tend to bang into stuff ie wall's, barriers, poles, table tops, and all other kinds of stuff my holstered pistol is allergic too. So I'm looking to see if I've missed anything and if the good folks on the forum had any input as to pros and cons of each of these or had some suggestion on any I have overlooked.

    CED Dust cover http://www.midwayusa.com/product/2208119778/ced-pistol-dust-cover-cotton

    Double Alpha pistol cover http://www.speedshooter.com/product_detail.cfm?id=DAGC&n=Double-Alpha-Gun-Cover

    Safariland Pistol cover http://www.safariland.com/DutyGear/product.aspx?pid=4001

The CED and the Safariland don't look like they offer much protection in terms of catching something against the holstered weapon, while the DAA looks to be thicker than both options but I'm looking for first hand experience. Last I know wet okole makes a pistol cover as well but it looks like they only offer a 6" version at this time. Oh and I'm gonna be using this with a 5" 2011 in a racer holster, or a 5" SS in a comptac kydex holster.

  8. Anyone ever have a shot timer repaired by CED somehow the screen cracked on one I borrowed from a buddy. So now I gotta make it right. Anyone with experience with their repair department in regards to cost and turnaround time. If it's not worth it I have the money to get him a new one just curious to see if it's worth the repair. The lesson here is STOP BEING A CHEAP BASTARD AND BUY YOUR OWN DAMN TIMER... LOL.
