Unfortunately case wall tension is rarely enough to provide insurance against occasional bullet setback. When run in a semiauto at a pace where bullet setback can be catastrophic, all of my loads get crimp until it is difficult to change the OAL with strong thumb pressure against the bench. If the bullet can't handle that, then it is time for a change of bullets.

So far I'm having good luck with the Remington Dummies from Brownellls. They are showing to be much more durable than anything else I have tried.

Maybe the math just isn't working for me but how can plated bullets that cost 9.5 cents apiece be a low cost boon when compared to premium Montana Gold Jacketed bullets at 8.2 cents apiece?

Stu, The fact that she has hives but no associated difficulty breathing or chest tightness is indicative that this is not a systemic response but rather a localized reaction. Possibly to linens, surgical cleansers (betadine, hibiclens, chlorhexadyne etc), bandaging materials, tape and adhesives. I am assuming she had the cholesystectomy done by laparascope which could mean quite a large surface was exposed to these. Are her hives completely covering her body? or only localized to a smaller region?

The LMOS will not give you any tuning problems. I run a JP lightened carrier, a 3oz buffer and full gas just fine with a rifle length gas system. You may be able to detect a fraction more recoil impulse due to not being able to impinge the gas but it is still much better than a full weight carrier buffer system.

The Stag 3G may not be a hand lapped custom tube but it is far from the factory tubes you reference. I have seen borescope footage of both types of barrels. The difference is obvious. With a little searching you can find the videos of both types of barrels before and after "break in". There the difference is impossible to discern because the break in changed nothing in either barrel. But at any rate, factory tube or custom barrel, can you honestly tell me that running copper jacketed bullets and patches will smooth out any roughness in 416 stainless steel. It simply doesn't happen. It is fine to believe it, and at this point the institutionalized need to break in a barrel has become so ingrained that most people refuse to see the objective evidence. Barrel break in all you want, I see that it brings warm comfort to the soul, but it won't make a bit of performance difference before or after.

Craig, I was going to ask you about it at Multigun nationals. Glad you're making good use of it. As you can see, I missed having it shortly after selling, and had to buy another. I learned that I need a bigger safe, instead of selling stuff that doesn't fit. Seiichi Funny you mention that. Just after I bought yours I was thinking I wanted a Tac Sol. I have one of their AR uppers and love it. Ultimately the delay delivering the Glock uppers has proven to be a blessing in disguise. Take care my friend

Let's solve it very simply. Why try to work around an inferior bullet. At best Berry's offers inconsistent performance across different barrels calibers and velocities. Montana Golds are a far superior product in all calibers and at all velocities, and are cheaper than the Berry's when bought by the case. To the OP, Even when loaded with care (crimp etc.) I, along with many other experienced inconsistent performance from Berry's bullets in both 9mm and 40 cal. I believe sometimes this was related to velocity and the jacket being damaged/compromised by the rifling or the inconsistent quality from Berry's. Rampant problems with sizing caused Berry's to offer the option of paying even more for the bullets and having them "doublestruck" to the correct diameter. Either way I gave up on them a while ago and have been much happier with bullets that are known for their consistency and performance which eliminates one unknown out of the reloading equation.

Don't forget to check out Dan Bedell's gun through Velocity Shooter. Excellent guns that run like sewing machines. Great service, comms, and wait times too.

Just a side note, I bought Seiichi's AA conversion and between myself and my nephew (lets just say he can make 22 ammo disappear) it has gotten enough use to warrant purchasing a glock lower to dedicate to it. Yay for me.

Couple of things about Berry's bullets 1) They are the only bullet manufacturer I know of who advertise at one price, then charge you a surcharge based on spot lead prices, and then charge you again (Doublestruck) if you actually desire your bullets to be the correct size. Last time I bought bullets Montana Gold's were cheaper when bought by the case lot. 2) My experience with them in 9mm and .40 indicates that it is a crapshoot at best whether they start coming apart or tumbling the faster you push them. Either way there are much better options to choose from. I believe most here would agree that at Open velocities a TMJ/CMJ or HP bullet would be the best choice.

In what world does that end the equipment race? It only moves the race from a shooter's workbench to the gun counter. Instead of being able to purchase a glock and add a little elbow grease polishing parts and replacing a disconnector and some springs, a shooter is now forced to buy one of the already available, out of the box options (CZ , Sphinx, XDM etc) to be competitive. Ultimately each manufacturer will then be forced to build an all out production gun to compete in the marketplace and you have only succeeded in pissing on the backs of current production shooters.
