  1. Scratch away. But how exactly do you know the turrets were adjusted from the above description. A likely explanation might be that the gun was shot, the caps removed to check witness marks made at initial zero, and then the caps returned and zero rechecked. Again, my point is, noone in this thread KNOWS what was done and until you do, lighten up on the accusations. You can't in one breath state noone has suggested impropriety and then make blatant inference that a lack of response suggests a coverup. Which is it? Again a complete jump to conclusion. Did it occur to you that all of the individuals involved are probably just now getting home to family they have been away from for a week or more? Did it occur to you that while at SHOT they had many professional priorities over and above responding to internet accusation of wrongdoing? Especially when those who are making the accusations seem to ignore any information offered to counter their perceived concerns. Yes, it was all a big conspiracy started two years ago only to culminate at the end of the world year SHOT Show 2012 mwaaahhhhaaahhhaaa
  2. Not on the AKDAL platform. The gun has only been in the country since last June and their has yet to be a fully converted production gun fielded in a match. I have shot a Firebird Saiga for the last three years and as good as it was after Jim does his magic, the Akdal 1919 is several levels better.
  3. 4th go was Voight v. Butler. Voight got a reshoot (not for a scope issue) and then spoke to the ROs at the rifle he had just shot. An RO shot the rifle, missed, took off the caps, touched the adjustments, shot a few, touched the adjustments again, shot a few more and then put the caps back on. Voight then beat Butler on the reshoot. That is as straight as I can relay my observation. Therein lies the problem. Im surprised the three guys who were beat didnt complain about a scope being re-zeroed. This should have been grounds for a re-shoot of the whole match. Again with the assumptions. Reread Mark's comment. As one who has court/legal experience he specifically indicates to you that although those of us in attendance saw the incident in question we still don't know if the adjustments were changed/confirmed/checked etc. only that they may have been questioned. If in fact adjustments were made an assumption could be made that the match administrators would have offered reshoots, and conversely if reshoots were not offered then the assumption would be no adjustments were made. My simple point is instead of making broad accusations of impropriety, stop and consider that nothing inappropriate occurred. The work that went in to making 3 Gun Nation successful for the last couple of years and growing incredibly quickly was phenomenal and not without significant risk. I think when questions arise they have earned the benefit of the doubt....and many thanks.
  4. Scars were used in the semi's and the finals. But on this note does anyone here KNOW the optics were rezeroed? Typical internet pitchfork and torch mentality. A mere suggestion and all of a sudden there is a huge conspiracy and conjecture has become fact.
  5. The JP15 line of rifles (the VT version is from this line) are bar none a fighting carbine. Although as has been mentioned there are many good rifles, I am sure you will find none better nor more reliable than JP. BTW Kyle doesn't exactly take lightly to putting his name and company on a product.
  6. It depends on what you are expecting out of it. The JP quality, accuracy, and attention to detail should be a foregone conclusion. The one thing you can expect is to experience more harshness in the recoil impulse the shorter the barrel becomes. However, light and fast is great. Do get the longest handguard you can though.
  7. Before anyone gets too fired up it is only a pic from media day at SHOT. It could mean everything or it could simply be a pic with fellow shooters...happens a lot at SHOT. There is also video of Gibson zeroing a Colt and Pat Kelley shooting a Firebird.............
  8. You had it made when you were 3? score! Holy Hell! If there is any better evidence that the math requirements to get through school are too lenient, I don't know where you would find it!
  9. If you plan on using the camera to film backcountry skiing, motorcycle trips off road etc then the GPS can be functional to a point. I have had an HD model for quite some time and I don't see that you would "need" anything more.
  10. There is absolutely nothing wrong with simple....as a matter of fact it is more often than not the route that is most effective.
  11. So do it yourself .....I mean after all, you've invested in thousands of dollars of tools to do the job correctly, purchased all kinds of infrastructure, (lifts, buildings, inventory systems etc), attended various schools and training to to acquire the knowledge etc etc
  12. Rifle length gas on a 16" gun IMO is one of those things. Yes you can, but it doesn't mean you should. Yes you can build a lightweight 16" gun but you are then going to anrrow the operating range significantly due to the limited dwell time you have from gas port to the end of the barrel. This will limit bullet weight, powder choice, etc and may even result in running heavier bolt/carrier/buffer components to get the reliability you need which would then defeat the initial purpose. I have a 16" gun set up to race with midlength gas. Yes there is a slight difference between it and my 20" gun with respect to recoil impulse. But to be honest it is only noticeable to me when I am trying to assess it. During practice on the clock or during a match I don't notice it at all. YMMV My point is if you want a short light gun go with the midlength gas 16" from JP and get a light reliable rifle without any of the 16" rifle length headache.
  13. Neither Pat nor Trapr were suggesting you quit load development at 2moa...simply that if you have a load that shoots within that limit you will have sufficient accuracy to be competitive in 3 gun. In other words chasing ..15inches in load development for a 3gun match is pointless compared to having more velocity, better match to BDC, reliability, etc. etc. With respect to the 6920. 3 gunners spend a lot of time and effort setting up a rifle to have a rifle length gas system, lightened reciprocating mass (bolt/carrier/buffer) and a good muzzlebrake which reduces the recoil impulse and allows for faster shooting as the sight picture is not disrupted as little as possible. A carbine length gas system with full weight buffer/bolt/ carrier and no muzzlebrake is as far away from that ideal as you can get.
  14. If your friend will zero the Meopta at 200yds at the top of the center dot then the holds with the reticle will be very close to the following with most any standard 223 load. 100 yds 1.5inches high 200 yds zeroed at top of dot 300 yds bottom of the dot 400 yds tip of the first chevron 500 yds tip of the second chevron 600 yds tip of the third chevron. With respect to finding the exact scope to fit the exact load....it's impossible. There are many BDC reticles out there and they all require some compromise based on the particular rifles muzzle velocity. IMO the meopta is one of the easiest to live with.
  15. That's my answer too but it is too dam easy. Patrick If I'm going to handload, no way I would settle for a 2moa load. Especially using matchking bullets. You would do very well to pay heed to the advice of the above two posters. Combined they have more match wins than you could dream of and you would be hard pressed to find better rifleman anywhere. They never mentioned settling at all. They simply indicated a limit, within which they have aptly demonstrated that limit is sufficient to win matches. Assuming you are accurate as to which shots were fliers, all the loads in your examples are sub MOA. How much more load development do you want to do to chase fractions of an inch. If your intention is to do so, then the first step would be to shoot it out of a more suitable rifle as a 6920 was never meant to be a precision gun, nor is it optimal for 3 gun with the carbine length gas system and full weight bolt/carrier/buffer. That being said if your intention is to find a load that matches a BDC then the work you have done so far has very little value. Based on your criteria, not having the MV leaves you no ability to choose from the above loads regardless of their accuracy. When you get the chrono and have some MV data you can then make some choices. Being a 16" gun I doubt you are getting 2800 fps with the 68's. You need to at least 2850 with the 69's to match the reticle and that will be pushing very hard in any 16" barrel.
  16. To be honest there is some distinct advantages to the striker fired guns in 3 gun. The biggest being the ability to abandon the pistol without any manipulation whatsoever. Don't discount this advantage, as the time spent either insuring the safety is on and the abandonment is gentle enough to not disrupt it, or emptying a 1911 type pistol can be significant. I have witnessed more than one competitor snick the safety on, drop the gun in a bucket or drop box, finish the stage only to be DQ'd due to the safety not being on anymore. Play with one a little to decide which pro's and con's of each system are more attractive to you. That being said I love shooting 9mm out of a doublestack gun.
  17. I am going to be loading up some loads with Ramshot Competition which I think will work a little better. Stay tuned
  18. Mike, Not to be argumentative but seriously consider the Briley ext Tube. Nordic makes good stuff and is a great supporter of the sport but Briley's tube is bombproof, requires no barrel clamp that can change slug POI, holds the forearm more securely and is much stiffer than the nordic.
  19. I agree with you completely, but the question remains as to whether the "middle shelf" rifles provide the accuracy and reliability. And if they do, is it the same level of both as compared to the "top shelf" rifles. Given the mid shelf rifles you listed they are all more than capable of what you are asking. To ask if they are exactly the same probably not. But just for argument sake let's say a JP CTR02 is a 1/2 MOA gun and a DPMS 3G1 is a 1MOA gun. There are very few shooters that can take advantage of that 1/2 MOA from the bench let alone under match conditions. With respect to reliability any of the guns listed will be very hard to make fail assuming simple maintenance, quality ammo and magazines.
  20. A big +1 The Super Sniper scopes are hands down the best glass in your price range. It is a durable well built scope that will serve you very well. If you should decide to start saving for a more expensive scope with more features it is a great way to get glass on the rifle and begin learning. Then when you decide to move up you can usually get upwards of 80% of your investment back on these scopes. Really can't say enough good about these scopes given their performance/dollar.
  21. Eric, I run 4 gr of TG under a 121 in my 5" and it makes around 135pf . Much lower than that and I felt like my slide began to feel sluggish (stock STI Tactical 10lb spring). This kept my gun fast enough to cycle the way I wanted but still feels stupid soft.
  22. 1 1/8 oz loads are light loads.
  23. I don't know about that. I have a Benny Hill Benelli M2 with a lightened bolt that will run any load I've put in it so far. I recently got a 27" M1 S90 for my open gun. I found that It wouldn't cycle the Fiocci light recoil slugs (my M2 from Benny Hill cycled these fine). Being that the two shotguns have the same bolt, I put the bolt from the M2 in the M1 and now it cycles the slugs fine. The M1 bolt is now on its way to Benny to be lightened. From a physics perspective this seems to make perfect sense. F=MA ....reduce the mass, force is a constant, then you have increased acceleration and no cycling problems with light loads. And from the "how a benelli works perspective" it doesn't mean piddly. The inertia spring is responsible for the unlocking. This is true because Kurtm said it was false
  24. Crazy talk! JUST DO WHAT I WANT! me me me me me me me me
  25. Nope, he was accompanied by at least three dummies who couldn't recognize sarcasm if it had a sign posted on it And just how are we supposed to know that was sarcasm????????? What do you want, a list? 1) Posted by a long time member and active shooter 2) The rash of sarcastic posts by other long time members and active shooters 3) The obvious lack of learned members not addressing the post seriously
