Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. KungFuNerd, I'm in the same situation. I played around with the factory sights and made some improvements but overall I really like the sights on my buddy's G34. He has the Sevigny Competition sights installed with the .215 front height. I just ordered a set and hope to have them installed on my G34 this weekend (if they arrive today). FYI...Dave Dawson has a great youtube video on installing sights on a Glock pistol. I'm join to try it myself and ordered his tools he used in the video with my sights (tools = $6 + shipping). I'm think of installing the Sevigny carry sights with the tritium dots on a G19 for CCW.
  2. I like 1911's. I have only had experience with Kimber, Colt, and Sig. The feel is natural and ultimately I would love a 2011. ( I'm also a Big Mac guy)
  3. I had a chance to shoot a XDM 5.25. Nice pistol but I'm really not use to the high bore and more perceived muzzle flip. I''m looking forward to more range time this weekend and hoping I'll have a CZ and STI anything to try. Thanks all for the input. My problem is that I like so many of these!
  4. Thanks for the input! I haven't checked out the CZ's and it looks like they have a good following. STI was a pistol that I thought was too far out of my budget but I'm going to spend some more time shopping. In the end the wife will have input. She has shown a lot of interest in the sport and has asked to join my son and I when we start competing next month. Maybe I'll need to reserve some of these funds to get her own rig started. I figure if she's into it then as a family we will compete. That has to be good for expanding the shooting budget!!!
  5. OK, I am a huge Glock fan. I currently own and shoot all/most of the 9's (26, 19, 17, 34). My wife has given her blessing to purchase another pistol with a budget of $1200 but, as she also enjoys shooting, she wants me to purchase something other than a Glock because she wants to shoot something different. I'm going to start shooting IDPA and USPSA matches with my son next month and for now I will use my Glock's. I would like to purchase a .40 to add some variety and maybe have a pistol for major's down the road when I'm worthy of shooting another division aside from production. What would you buy? I like them all and sort of leaning towards a SIG 226 Tactical Operations in .40. I also like the H&K P30L and XDM 5.25 in .40 How about a cheap 2011 to start building?
  6. As Skydiver pointed out it saves some space on the belt. 3 gun is something I would love to try after participating in IDPA and USPSA pistol matches and from what I see belt space can be a premium. Especially a beginner like myself needing a little more ammo than the rest.
  7. I'm also looking for information on this model. My son and I are both going to start shooting IDPA and USPSA this year. We have a G34 that, for now, we will share. I have a Comp Tac holster and 4 single mag pouches already. My thought was to by this Comp Tac belt fed model and one more holster so we are both outfitted for USPSA. Figuring one of us wears the 4 single stacks and one wears the belt fed model. For IDPA we will just each use 2 single stacks. Does this make sense? Or should we get 4 more single stacks?
  8. I just ordered the Wolff competition spring kit, guide rod, and #14 recoil. Looking forward to trying this setup out in my G34. I figured if Dave Savigny likes this setup its got to be a good start for me.
  9. When I was in better shape I never got bit but now that I'm 20lbs over weight I think it all went to my hands cuz I get bit all of the time! Been shooting a G34 for 5 years.
  10. Just got back from the range. I DON'T LIKE Power Pistol. Barky and snappy are very good terms for this powder. Felt like I was shooting a 45 auto. The flame out the front was actually covering my target. I have a pound of this and it's free to anyone that wants it! I had good results from my Titegroup/ XTP 124 combo. I would like to try some with W231 that I see so many use here.
  11. Sarge, I was more looking to see if there is a giant reloader data chart that all of the members have been creating. Sorry for the noobie post. Super dude, again another noobie mistake. It is Alliant power pistol. I'm mostly looking for a combination of accuracy, and lower muzzle flip to get back on target quickly. Thanks both for the reply's
  12. Is there 1 thread with the recipes you have all tried? I'm a new reloader and would like to start competing in production class of uspsa and similar ipda. I'm shooting a G34 and I have always shot factory ammo in 115 gr. After reading a lot of this forum, it looks like a lot of you have better results with 124/125 or 147 gr bullets. I also have just started to load my own ammo and looking forward to try out a couple of different recipes. My family gave me a press and some basic supplies to get started. I'm using a RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme kit, Pistol Powder (which looks as if NO one uses it on this forum), and Speer 115 TMJ. I loaded what I have and now anxious to try them out at the range on Sunday. In the meantime, I purchased a pound of Titegoup and 100 each of Hornady's 115 XTP and 124 XTP. Obviously, both powders should work with the factory recipes but the Pistol Powder uses almost 50% more powder and at roughly the same price as the Titegroup it makes sense just to use it up and be done with it. Here are my first tests (with results to come Sunday night) #1 Once fired brass Winchester Primers Pistol Powder 6.4 Speer 115 TMJ OAL @ 1.135 (straight recipe from Speer manual) #2/3 (same brass and primers) Pistol Powder 6.4 Horn. XTP 115 and Titegroup 4.1 OAL @ 1.125 #4/5 (same brass and primers) Pistol Powder 6.0 and Titegroup 4.1 Horn. XTP 124 OAL@ 1.125
  13. I'm fairly new to the Milwaukee are moving here from Massachusetts (toughest state to own a gun). I'm looking forward to try my hand at IDPA and USPSA. I would love to find a 3 gun match!
