  1. I believe you're looking for what's commonly referred to as a 5-40 screw, if you're located in Europe I'm not sure who'll carry them but if you strike out let us know, they're easy to get over here.
  2. Manny Bragg/USA for open, before that DAA. Reworked the USA holster a bit for cosmetics but it's an awesome piece. Holds my open pistol and single-stack 1911 equally well, very secure and fast! For me, a little more forgiving than the DAA on re-holster and feels like plucking the pistol out of thin air on the draw.
  3. Are those with ball-detent fixed rackers happy with how well they're retained? How snug is the racker to dovetail fit, is it an easy slide & snap fit or?
  4. Is the ball detent mod a ball & spring or a set-screw containing ball & spring? Is it placed under the racker with the ball pushing up or does it come in from the front or back of the racker dovetail? Oh... I'm a righty & mines on the left.
  5. ...have not talked to them about the bulge but wasn't too worried about it as others seem to find the same thing with multiple gun/barrel types. I am using JL recommended load info: Powder: 8.4gr Vihta Vuori N350 Bullet: Montana Gold .355 JHP/CMJ Primer: Winchester Small Rifle / CCI Small Rifle OAL Range: 1.240" - 1.250" Powder: 9.6gr Vihta Vuori 3N38 Bullet: Montana Gold .355 JHP/CMJ Primer: Winchester Small Rifle / CCI Small Rifle OAL Range: 1.240" - 1.250" 7.9 N350 still gives ~1355 fps on my ProChrono w/MG124 ...will get to the 3N38 this week
  6. ...a few, yes. I'll start with the 3N38 and then try the N105. Not enough gas with 4756?
  7. "And his loads do make Major." No bulge at all? ...any chance you could find out what his load is? I'll be trying some 3N38 this week and will get some N105 & 4756 ordered up. BTW, thanks for all the input, it's much appreciated. ...I have 13K MG 124s so I'll work with them for the time being...
  8. The bulge doesn't make a full a full 360 as indicated in the original post 270-300 degrees, though some look more even than others. Inspected closely there are rarely more than 45 degrees without some bulge, the picture is a little misleading as I was trying to show max bulge. I'm having trouble finding specs for 38 Super chamber diameter, does the .388-.389" number come in on the big side?
  9. ...chamber plugs at .3885" at the case shoulder to .3890" about where the bulge is on the case. Max dia. on selection of brass measures .3888-.3892"....roughly
  10. So, as recommended in a 38/9mm reloading thread I'm looking for feedback on the amount of case bulge considered acceptable for 38 Super/SC loaded to major in an open gun. The pistol's a brand new Razorcat w/KKM barrel & I'm loading new Starline 38SC brass w/8.2 N350, MG 124 HP, 1.245" OAL, 172 PF. I'm getting about a .009/.010" increase in diameter max maybe 270-300 degrees around the case. The gun runs fine though not as flat and a little more snappy than I expected. I am still working up a load for it and expect to find something that works well. I'll gauge the chamber sometime later this weekend & add that info. It's been suggested that the chamber is out of spec or has been opened up excessively. I didn't think the bulging was a big deal but have been wrong once or twice before...
  11. I don't claim to be an authority but I didn't think .010" bulge was a particularly big deal in 38 Super major. I know the 38 SC case is a bit more stout but.....
  12. I have a brand new Razorcat in SC and my brass looks similar w/8.2 N350/124 MG/1.245 LOA using new SL brass. I'm using a EGW/Lee sizing die and that seems to take care of it. I plan to reload it 'till it splits or the primers fall out. Out of curiosity, I'm getting about .010" of bulge diametrically, have you miked any of your brass?
  13. Aside from the $18.50 more per K cost of Starline TJ brass is there any reason why 38SC is more popular (as in always out of stock) than TJ? From what I have read on this forum the two are interchangeable in a pistol and reloading press set-up for one or the other. A very slight difference in case volume may or may not exist. Both are reported to feed the same and withstand major loads to the same degree. TJ may re-size full length due to it's taller (wider?) extractor groove depending on the resizing die... am I missing anything? Is there any reason to choose one over the other? I'm currently using Starline 38SC and I'm going to need some brass soon
  14. Just an observation.... am I wrong or will bullet OAL not impact round OAL with a die that uses the tip of the bullet to seat? The die is seating the bullet to depth based on the bullet tip and whatever is locating the case, base of the brass, shell-plate whatever. A longer or shorter bullet will affect how deep the bullet goes into the brass, not OAL. If the Redding die uses the ogive area and there is a length variance between where the seating die contacts (dia. = X) and the bullet tip... that WILL give an OAL difference. Does this mean that as far as tight tolerance round OAL is concerned a die that uses the bullet tip will give better results that one that uses the ogive area? That said, I wish I shot well enough for +/-.005 to make a difference....
  15. My buddy had the same problem with his 650. At first it seemed to be the mix of crimped & un-crimped brass he was using so he went through the brass and chamfered the primer pockets on all the crimped brass. That was better but he was still getting crushed and the the occasional flipped primer! I came over to help with the investigation and noticed that the primer assembly was moving around as he cycled the press.... to make a long story short, the platform bolts holing the platform to the main-shaft had loosened. We tightened them up and the problem was solved. If the platform is not rock-solid on the main-shaft check those bolts &/or the bolts holding the primer feed-body housing to the platform.
  16. 2 months early! ....mind telling us when you ordered it/them? Someone would be insanely stoked to get his Razorcat 38sc even a month early!
