  1. For long range 3 gun ammo, I load a 69 TMK over 24.6 gr of TAC in LC brass with a Winchester primer. I buy processed brass, and the guy doing it sorts by year. I'm getting 2800 FPS out of an 18" 1-8 twist Nordic barrel. That speed lines up with the BDC in my scope and the load is more than accurate enough for anything I've encountered in 3 gun.
  2. I use 10 X binos and have never had any trouble spotting hits.
  3. I have Hyperfires 24 THs in my 3 gun rifles. Precision ARs get Geisseles. SDE with a JP trigger spring give s me a 3 lb trigger. Bolt gun has a Trigger Tech Special. It's fantastic. I really want to try one of their AR triggers.
  4. 34 cents a piece. American Eagle is about 30 at PSA. So it a little more than bulk. BUT my loads are sub MOA and go bang every time.
  5. I think it is. I buy processed ready to load Lake City brass for $85 / 1000. I load a 55 grain Nosler BT over 335 and it’s shoots circles around anything. I can buy. No problems with flashers inside of 400. A 69 grain TMK over Tac if the range exceeds 400/ 450. Loaded to 2800 FPS they are sub MOA and match the BDC in my scope perfectly. Save the 77s for PRS.
  6. I love lever guns and have several. Savage 99, Browning BLRs, Winchesters, and Marlins. All are fine hunting rifles, but none are really mechanically capable of long range accuracy.
  7. I went crazy buying bags when I started. Three do almost everything I need. I use my Pump Pillow , Gamechanger, and a small rear bag 99% of the time. I’d recommend you get a good set of binos, decent rangefinder, a Kestrel with ballistic app, and a decent bag to carry it all in. I use a Gunslinger . That will get you started and be all you need for most matches. Eventually you’ll want a good tripod and spotting scope.
  8. I believe the Valkeries advantage will be durability. The Grendel’s weakness is its bolt and extractor. Just not enough meat in the bolt face. I’ve shot mine for the last couple of years at local and regional matches. and have broken extractors twice. Both times during matches Last match was 3 Gun nation team match, 2 out of three Grendel’s went down with broken extractors. Mine was an AA the other was a JP. Both rifles had a lot of rounds down the tube. The Valkeries 6.8 bolt has a good bit more steel in the face and should have more longevity. A broken rifle when your doing well in a match sucks.
  9. Yup, 2nd would be the Bushnell DMRs. They are a great scope for the game and you can find the 1st gens for about 1K.
  10. I see more Gen 2 Razors at PRS matches than everything else combined.
  11. I ran irons on my Armalite for Heavy Limited/ Heavy Sport . PRI makes a clamp on gas block that is the same height as the reciever. I used a Troy HK style clamp on front sight with a .040 post, and a DPMS Short A2 style tear sight. Progressive lenses and division changes have pushed to magnified optics, but I do miss banging long steel with an iron sighted rifle.
  12. I’ve been shooting a Grendel for the last couple of years in precision matches. I shoot a 24” AA barrel, with full mass carrier. I played with a low mass carrier, but the rifle didn’t group as well. There wasn’t enough difference in recoil to worry about IMO. The one thing I would get is the JP extractor. I’ve broken 2 of the AA extractors. Unfortunately both were in matches. I carry a spare now. And get good mags. I run PRI 6.8 mags. They are very reliable. C products and ASC mags were not.

  14. Second on the Gamechanger. The guy that designed and built those is a friend and top notch shooter.
  15. For a trainer, get a 223. Much cheaper. I practice my positional shooting with a 223 to avoid using up barrel life in my Creedmoor. Ive been shooting a Grendel for the last year and a half in local and regional long range matches. Beyond 600 it outpaces the 223 quickly. Energy on target is no comparison, and I have no trouble getting hits called out to 1K. The Grendel's Achilles heel is bolt wear. I've broken two extractors and it seems this is a common problem that shows up about 1 K rounds.
  16. Your trainer should have the same reticle and controls if possible. All my precision scopes have adjustable parallax fron 25 yds to infinity.
  17. It's time plus penalties rather than points. Separate divisions for gassers and bolts. 6-8 targets per stage, unlimited round count. Gas guns out to 800. Bolt guns out to 1K . 2-3 MOA targets.
  18. Are you using and adaptor, or are CORE2.0s available?
  19. 230 grain Blue Bullet, 4.2 grains of Tightgroup, 1.250 OAL. Federal primer with mixed brass. This load is accurate, shoots soft, and functions out of every 45 ACP I own.
  20. Buy the best glass you can afford. Excellent factory match ammo is available for both. If you don't reload buy a case of the same lot. Get a good zero and good chrono data. They are the building blocks for everything you will do.
  21. 760 will sorta work. But you're trying to put a square peg in a round hole. Almost everyone uses H4350 with 140 bullets for a reason. And they are loading with the most accurate powder dispenser they can afford. Practicing with the same load they compete with. No really a critique, more of a statement of fact.
  22. A minimal Exsteme Spead is your goal for precision ammo. You simply can't achieve that with the powders that work best with 140 class bullets in the 6.5 Creedmoor using a press mounted powder dispenser.
  23. I have the same barrel. Hornady 55's loaded to 556 pressures are accurate and move flashers all the way out to 400. Tac and 8208 work well 69 gr SMKs and meter better than Varget.
