Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I load .40 major for a 6" sti.... 8.5 gr HS-6, 1.285 OAL. 155gr MG JHP. Or 7.8 gr autocomp, same OAL & MG Both hit 172+ at 80deg
  2. Cases are no where near full .. no compression as of yet ...
  3. to answer the rest of you questions kampr Yes each charge is weighed individually as i dont trust my dispenser for major charges it doesnt seem that regular.... mixed brass.. mostly federal ... some of the cases were smokey on the exterior some were not ... i loaded up another 10 rnds at 8.1 and 10 at 8.3 the 8.1 set increased to avg of 1108 with a spread of approx 50 fps the 8.3 was an avg of 1148 with spread of approx 50 fps both loads with a very slight crimp ... no signs of pressure no smokey cases ... the 8.3 shot very accurate and was a nice feel in the palm .. i am very happy with the load ill let you know how it goes this sunday as i have my first USPSA with the new boom stick ready to go ... in practice i was shooting 3 uspsa targets at 25 ft 4 ft apart with 2 to the body and 2 to the head with an avg time of 8.27 sec with mostly As to the body and a-b to head ... i was very impressed with the accuracy of the round ... just have to get a happy feel for the dot bounce and i will be blazing ... I LOVE IT thanks for the deal
  4. Kampr I do weigh each rnd individually... I loaded up 16 more at 8.1 & 8.3 with slight crimp Spread evened out an pf jumped to 172 on the 8.3 load was very consistant. I think this load is going to work very well accuracy and feel in the hand was perfect in my opinion
  5. This is my first attempt at working up a major load.. I am shooting a bedell built sti 2011 .40 5" barrel All loads were 155 gr MG JHP. Over HS6 at OAL 1.185 Load 1. 7.7 gr. 16 shots Avg. 1078 fps Low 1026 High 1123 Load 2. 7.9 gr. 16 shots Avg. 1069 fps Low. 1028 High. 1104 Load 3 8.1 gr. 16 shots Avg. 1091 Low. 1030 High. 1134 These three loads average. 165 - 169 PF. I would be far more comfortable up around 171. At this point I have no signs of pressure I guess my questions are Did I figure my data correctly. Ie avg the results & calculate All of these loads are with 0 crimp. Have seen no reasons y they need crimped unless someone with mor exp tells me diff I will run another test Sunday with 8.3 & 8.5 grs... I appreciate any input from those of you master loaders out there.
  6. No work yet... Spent the rest of my gun $ on a bedell built sti.... Those pics will be up as soon as she gets here. But when I get the 5.25 moved up to limited. I will have springer do all the work I will not do myself
  7. Just shot my first idpa match with my new 5.25 competition 9mm & loved it. Ran like a champ. Sights were dead on outa the box. Didn't even get a chance to fire it unroll first beep on stage 1. Loved it
  8. Welcome to the shooting sports in NC. Dependant on your interest and location in the state, there are a lot of shooting/competition venues available. Hope to see and meet you at a match. Pv ... I am near wilmington NC.... Right now I only compete at anthill range in southport. 3 matches a month is all I have time for right now & my wife thinks that is to much!
  9. Been here a few times for info ... Getting into competition shooting... I shoot IDPA with a XDM 5.25 9mm, Just purchased a Bedell .40 open gun for uspsa (cannot wait for it to get here) Have a Bushmaster 223 and saiga 12 for 3 gun.. this seems to be the one stop shop for all shooting info ... looking forward to picking some brains
  10. i feel your pain .... i just picked up my new XDm 5.25 9mm the same day i sent a MO to AZ for a .40 bedell racer.... lets just say the bedell hasnt showed up yet and when it does ... i got some splainin to do lucy... but i do alot of cash deals at work and get money she has no idea i have .. if she did it would go to other places .. lol ... but the midway boxes and MG keep showing up ... lucky the CC goes to my buisness and not the house .... or i would be on the table for all this competition stuff ....
  11. Recently purchased a siaga 12ga for 3gun... Only one trip to the range so far.. About 4 boxes of #6 Winchester low brass white box down range... Stove piped every round for first mag. Progressively got better as I shot.. I would assume the beast just needs to be broke in.. Or should I be shooting hevier loads.... Thanks for n e help.
  12. Not to hijack the thread.. But other than scales are there any digital scale/dispensers that have better than .1 accuracy?
  13. Thanks saffer.. That was my question.... I was impressed with the description of the product on their website.. Also the design of a longer bullet while maintaining the same weight, plus of course they boast 1450+ fps
  14. I realize there is tons of data here for major loads.. Was just wondering if anyone has any experience with barrys 9mm 124gr HBRN-TP For my background.. I am currently building an open gun from a xdm 9mm.. I realize this doesn't even compare with the sti's and limcats but ATM is what I can afford.. I have 10s of thousands of rounds o reloading behind me... Primarily 45 & 357mag.. I have only recently gotten involved in competition and I have always tried to reach for the clouds in all I do Thanks for any info.. Suggestions for mods I should make to the xdm.. Here is what I have decided to do so far: Storm Lake 9MM threaded barrel 4/5" Springer Precision 3 Port Compensator CARVER Custom XD/XDM Competition Mount* C-More Slideride *6 MOA* PistolGear Unlimited Magwell* CARVER Custom Slideracker* Springer Precision Custom XDM Uncaptured Guiderod I'm new to the pistol modification process.. Will this setup work for major.. If not what suggestions do you have? Thanks for the info
