  1. I have an Aftec in my 40 for about three years and so far so good -- it's been probably 5,000 rnds. I also had one in my open gun and it only lasted two years and about 6,000 rnds. It didn't break but lost it's tension and that's after replacing the tiny springs about 3 times.
  2. I was taught (ala Michael Voigt) to zero your gun according to the average distances of the types of stages you generally shoot. For example, the matches I shoot generally have target placements between 10 and 20 yards, so I zero at around 15-17 yards and verify where my gun shoots within those distances and further out.
  3. You might want to check out Experimental Machining's work. I just had a shorty top-end built by Brian Hawley there and I'm very pleased with his work. His work is very precise and clean. Great value too! Experimental Machining
  4. I just had a lightened open top-end built by Brian Hawley at Experimental Machining in Oregon and I love it! It handles great just like a Limited gun and shoots suprisingly flat for being so light. These are the specs: -- Slide cut down 1/2" -- Titanium four port comp w/two side ports -- 4 hybrid ports -- Aluminum guide rod It's the blue'd one with the blue C-more: Experimental Machining
  5. This is how I determine what recoil spring to use. Let's say I start with an 10lb recoild spring in my open gun. I fire one shot and after recoil I see where my dot settles down on target without adjusting it. If it's HIGH on the targert then I may need a HEAVIER spring, if it's LOW on the target then a LIGHTER spring.
