Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Just got a Tanfoglio Defiant Limited Master 9mm (basically is Stock iii frame with magwell from what I was told and could find). Will this Mec Gar 10rd mag work if I swap the base plate? I know the stock base plate won't work, i'm just trying to figure out if that mag body should. It's been a long time since i've had a Tanfo. https://www.gunbroker.com/Item/885094595 I plan to to put Henning extended base plate on it to clear the mag well. Thanks!
  2. Just wanted to say Hi again. I've been out of shooting for a while I'm just getting back into it. I purchased a Tanfoglio Defiant Limited Master and im excited to finally start shooting it.
  3. Hey Rob, Good to see you over here too. Here's mine, which you've seen before. Still have to get time to get my Ledyard Rifle range key.
  4. I agree, but at this point i'm so used to single action or striker fired pistols, i'm just trying to get more familiar with the double action pull.
  5. Joined up years ago and never really posted. My buddy has been shooting USPSA Production and recently got me to agree to give it a go. First match is in a few weeks. Scooped up a CZ Custom Shadow last week. First time going to a DA/SA competition gun. Just waiting for the 10 rounders to come back in and a couple more mag pouches to arrive. I've done some local plate shooting but nothing else otherwise. Now while i've practiced reloading before, I felt like I needed to film myself to see how I could improve. Love to hear your thoughts.
  6. Thanks guys. And BB - that isn't a shotgun shell. It's two film canisters.
  7. Thanks Mike, I carefully took a 1000 grit and 600 grit sanding stone to it. I knocked down the notch most of the way, but it is just the slightest bit left. I think it is going to be fine so i'm not going to mess with it any more. Another thing I somehow did, when tightening the front set screw for the sight, the screw actually started to go through the slide. There must be very little metal between the setscrew and barrel. It went through enough that I couldn't insert the barrel again. I backed it off a hair and locktited it and it's fine now except for the slight indentation when you look at the slide from the inside. I found that a bit odd. It is barely noticeable if you slide your finger in there. The macro lens makes it look way worse than it is.
  8. No rounds through it yet. It doesn't look like it will interfere at all with the round, but I don't think it should be there. You can see how the other side is. It looks like they went to far on the feed ramp and created that slight notch. I'm going to take it down very lightly.
  9. So I got my 9mm Witness in yesterday and it is awesome. Upon cleaning and re-oiling the bull barrel I noticed on the right side of the feed ramp, towards the top right side where it meets the barrel chamber there is what looks like a burr, but it looks very clean cut, almost like it is supposed to be there. I tested sliding a round up the ramp into the chamber and from what I can tell the round never once touches it. It also doesn't look like the extractor touchs it either. Would you leave it or just carefully smooth it out? Nothing touches it and it doesn't look like it will affect anything at all. It is more on the side wall of the feed ramp if you call it that. You notice it when looking at it directly from the right side like my drawing. Anyone else's like that? I'll get a photo after work, but for now this is a nice drawing of what I mean.
  10. So I just picked up the gun today! It does have the Gold color sear so i'm going to assume it's the updated version. Everything looks good. I was even able to pull it apart quickly at the shop and internals actually were very clean. Nice coating of oil on the gun too. Trigger felt good too. I like that it comes with a stock black front sight as well as a fiber optic front too. It also included two spare recoil springs....I'm thinking they are lighter than what is in there currently. Now I just need to clean and test fire it in it's stock configuration. After a bit of range time I will install the XL firing pin/13lb hammer spring and polish the trigger bar. The wood checkered grips feel great too. The other Witness Limited my buddy has is fitted with thin aluminum grips. If the hammer spring and polishing actually make a difference this trigger is going to be sweet! I'll have to look into the rolling plunger as well as lighter plunger springs. Any idea where to start with the lightened plunger spring weight?
  11. Not sure of the color. I just placed the order this morning. Hope to have it in a couple of days. I already placed the order for the H-500 basepads. Are mine going to be shorter than the 141 pads? They should still work with the magwell right. I don't mind if they are flush.
  12. Just wanted to share some photos I took of some sweet firearms. Enjoy! Custom built AR. Custom Race Glock 17. Glockworx did the slide machining and DLC coating. First time stippling on my M&P9: Then my second time on my Glock 34 as well as removing finger grooves.
  13. Hey all. I just found out about this forum and signed up to post in the EAA and CZ boards mainly. These are my plate shooting guns and i'm looking for all the info I can on them. I'm a photographer and enjoy taking photos of some really sweet firearms and sharing not only the photos, but also tips on photography too. I've been into firearms for about two years now and enjoy target shooting. One of my favorite activities is plate shooting. I'm currently getting more into it and really trying to become a better shooter.
  14. Hi guys I just found out about this forum. My friend recently picked up a used Witness Elite .45 with a 9mm topend as well. I really liked the trigger on his so I went ahead and used Gallery of Guns to order a 9mm Witness Elite Limited and two spare 17rd mags. After reading that the baseplates would need to be changed I found Henning's site and ordered; Henning XL Firing Pin, Large Frame SA Only 2x Henning H-500 Base Pads Wolff Hammer Spring 13lb (Tanfoglio / EAA) From what I read so far, with these parts and possibly a bit of polishing of the trigger bar I should have a pretty sweet gun for plate shooting right? Anything else I should check out or change? I already know to field strip it and make sure it is clean and relube before my first outing. Currently i'm shooting a CZ SP01 Shadow Target Custom out of Angus Hobdell's shop. Sweet, sweet gun, but I just wanted to have a good single action competition gun as well. Any info is appreciated as there isn't a whole lot of info online like there are for more well known firearms. My current CZ
