  1. Nope, barrels vary manufacturer to manufacture, but unless they are bent, most are just as accurate as the next offering
  2. Here ya go: Mossberg 930/935 trigger disassembly/reassembly w/ PICS Chuck beat me to it
  3. Guncat has done one for me and it has been phenomenal! I will never use any one else for barrel work!
  4. Well it isn't the gas ring, it is the spring. I made a tool to remove and re-install the spring and gas ring. I remove about 3/16" off of each end of the spring, it hasn't affected the gun in anyway. This made barrel installation and removal a breeze. I contemplated making a sleeve like the one SRM makes for the FN piston to see what would happen.
  5. This was borrowed from Shawn/VA Hunter at Old Gobbler: Barrel Polishing Try this before buying a flexhone:
  6. I will pull mine and get with several people and see what we can source for it. Why would the spring be restricted but not the firing pin?
  7. ^^^^^^^^^ He did my 930 with Invector/Win-Choke/Accu-chokes and it is spot on perfect as far as patterning go. The best prices I have fopund on extended tubes were at Manventure Outpost for Trulock Precision Hunter tubes, $27 plus a little shipping
  8. I would think that the pin shouldn't mushroom at all. I have several guns with literally 10's of thousands of rounds that show no signs of wear.
  9. The material the follower is made out of is soft, go back and try the factory metal follower and I suspect you issue will go away. My Benellis had to have followers after 2 seasons of duck and goose hunting, got to where they wouldn't feed correctly, went with SRM's and haven't had an issue since.
  10. Have you inspected the round prior to firing? After it has cycled thru a full mag tube of rounds? Maybe the follower is beating it up causing it to swell, rim is beat up, gun not fully going to battery, rough chamber needing polish? Is the follower the factory follower or aftermarket? It maybe protruding from the tube hanging up on the shell shop putting extra pressure on the bolt?
  11. I have one that I bought in March that now has close to 3500 rounds thru it and the pin has began to mushroom. I called Mossberg and they initially wanted my to send the gun in, I asked for a supervisor and explained the process for swapping it and he agreed it would be the most cost effective to just send me a couple of pins. Kudos to her! Have any of you guys been looking at you pin, if so have you noticed it mushrooming? I have seen this with 935s in the past, but this is the first 930, even though they use the same pin. I am specifically interested in the JM Pro and Rhythm series pins, I wonder if they are different like the gas piston and magazine tube? I also know that if you use Slip 2000 piston and choke cleaner, you will no longer have any finish on your piston, but it will be sparkling clean!
  12. If the front sight worries you, you could use a set that has a front sight attached with a screw: Tru-Glo TG950
  13. We have lead and steel tape, just checked one is .008" and the other is .012". I could care less about the play myself.
  14. What are you using for sights? If you are using just the front bead you need to check you fit. If you are using multiple bead sights, like a turkey sight, check to see where it hits at 16yds and adjust accordingly. I check for fit at 16 yds by firing multiple rds at a Target dot until a definite hole emerges and see where the hole is in relation to the target.
  15. Look at the gas piston spring to see if it is broken. If not, polish the chamber it is possible it received a burr during the mods.
  16. Have you had the shell stop out and cleaned behind it? Last time the magazine spring was replaced? Those are the only two things I can think that would cause a failure to feed from the magazine.
  17. Also look at the spring end, if it isn't flat it could be causing the follower to cock and bind in the tube at the junction.
  18. Weight is your friend, Limbsaver recoil pad, and low recoil loads. I haven't seen anything porting has done for a hunting/3 gun style gun, but with low recoil target loads it helps get back on target faster. I have several 930 barrels, a couple Citori's, a Cynergy and a couple of others and I can't see any difference using regular field/heavy target loads that porting makes.
  19. You can do what you wish, but I have had it done twice with minimal improvement. I primarily shoot Browning's and Winchester's and some have the Vector-Pro factory lengthened forcing cone(Maxus and Cynergy) and when comparing patterns with my Silvers and SX2s, they are virtually identical. I would "Google" the article "How to deep clean a shotgun barrel", it involves almost mirror polishing the bore. It is easy, cheap and effective. I did it to a SX2 and compared it to an unpolished barrel and there was a slight increase in pattern density, but the big pay off was how easy it was to clean. I have my newest 930 Waterfowl (unported barrel)chucked up in the vise now ready to polish. I don't think I will do the ported barrel that actually came with the gun, it would be tough to polish the area near the porting I would guess, not something I want to chance. If you find the actual article on Old Gobbler, he has actually done several 835's and reported no damage to the ports.
  20. It is there it is just very short. Why do you want it lengthened?
  21. The barrel is .775" nominal bore, same as a 10 ga. They were designed as a Waterfowl/Turkey gun and as such they pattern heavy loads of Hevi-Shot and steel excellently. The barrel is swaged at the muzzle to allow for the choke tubes and I do not know anyone that has cut a 935 barrel and had new tubes installed. The barrel isn't ported like the 930. The 930 is a scaled down, chamber and barrel bore ID, version of the 935.
  22. Mossberg 930 JM PRO 12/24/3 10SH SYN/BL $539.88 Mossberg 930 JM PRO 12/24/3 9SH SYN/BL $531.05 Mossberg 930 RHYTHM SERIES 12/28 3" 13SHOT $601.10
  23. I was on Grab a Gun.com and the prices listed were both under $700 on their site. They are located in Coppell Texas
