  1. Yes! Ltd = Limited. Nice gun! I’m trying to remember but I think Para bobbed the hammer on the latter ones. People kept trying to cock them like a revolver which would really damage the LDA mechanisms. Now it may be very difficult to find internals so just a heads up about cocking the hammer!
  2. That looks like a Limited LDA to me! Front and rear cocking serrations, LPA rear sight but I cant tell if the front sight is dovetailed or not in the pic. A limited would have a dovetailed font sight. Its got the hex grip screws too. So it doesn't say Limited on the other side of the slide in cursive?
  3. I don't know a lot about LDA's but if its a Limited it will have adjustable sights (LPA\Bomar style). I'm stretching my memory here but I thought on LDA's all the trigger pulls were the same. Kind of a very light double action and consistent on every pull. LDA stands for Light double action. I'm sure there are some people here that are more knowledgeable than I am on the LDA's. Also check out the Facebook group Para Ordnance Clubhouse. There are some or one person that used to work for PARA USA that can answer technical questions about LDA actions.
  4. I wanted to give a great recommendation for anybody looking to have work done on their Para or really any 1911 type pistol. I just got my Para 18.9 Pro Custom back from being re-barreled by him. What a great experience. He put in a KKM 9mm bull barrel. The gun locks up really tight now, is more accurate than it was from the factory, and functions flawlessly. He's also really a nice person to deal with too. He spent all the time I wanted discussing the work and communicated the progress. If you're considering having work done, give Don Fraley at Advanced Weapons Technology a call. T
  5. Congratulations!! Yes it will work. You need the one for the Billet grip https://infinity.mysparkpay.com/p/144-Billet-Grip-Trigger-Bow-Wide-Body.aspx I'm running the triggers in both my18.9 Pro Custom and my 16.40 Pro custom. One thing though, I'm running STI mags in my 18.9 and MBX in my 16.40 with no trouble. When I use some of my older Canadian mags, the trigger bow drags on the side of the mag when the mag is full and sometimes prevents it from resetting. When I shoot a few rounds out, this goes away but it is an issue if you are going to use old mags. I think one of the other guys here, that are using this trigger, solved this by taking a few thousands off the insides of the bow. I'm sure they will chime in. I also like the Guncraft flat trigger as its a tighter fit and has less up and down play but, its a bit too long and bothers me. I could just grind it down to my taste but the SV looks better so it staying.
  6. I'd like to try one on the Pro Custom mag or the new Remington mag..
  7. pixfella58, are you putting the TF basepad on the older Para mags or the new Pro Custom mags?
  8. So the current Dawson pads will fit the Remington/PC custom mags? That's a win!
  9. Nice!! Now we just need TTI & Dawson to make some base pads that will give us 23-24 rounds... I suspect that will come now that Remington is starting to ship guns and mags.
  10. Sweet! So you picked it up? Running out of the box?
  11. I lucked out and my PC18.9 would take STI mags with no mods to the gun at all. My PC16.40 would not so I have MBX for that one.
  12. You can't go wrong there! On mine, I had the extractor tuned, feed ramp polished, I replaced my factory sear with an EGW and had a trigger job done to 2#'s. I originally put in a flat gun craft trigger but have since switched to an SVI billet grip trigger. I'm running a 9# recoil spring in my 9mm with low minor power factor loads an 12# in the .40. Both guns set up the same. I'd say shoot it and see if it gives you any trouble first and fix those issues. Probably polish the feed ramp, a trigger job, check extractor tension and then go bang away with it!! When these guns are set up they will run like champs!
  13. I don't have any personal experience with the Remington 1911's but the new R1 Limited seems to be a rebranded 18.9 Pro Custom. I'm not sure about the quality of small parts they are using now, but it looks like they are still using EGW extractors and hammers. Looks like street price on a R1 Limited is $1100. I think I would be looking hard at one those instead of the Para at that price. Any part that was cheap or failed you would just replace with a higher end part anyway. FWIW I own and compete with a PC 18.9 and a PC 16.40 so I really like the guns. It's not a big change switching to the double stack. Yes the grip is bigger but all the same muscle memory skills are the same.

    18.9 Holster

I'm running a Safariland 578 GLS holster with my PC 18.9. It takes a little bit of trimming with a dremel but it works great fro 3gun. If you search Youtube for "Safariland GLS STI" there is a video that shows GLS and ALS and where to cut for an STI. Its the same for a Para.
  15. I recently went through this with a Para PC18.9. I followed the above posted vid and was able to make the GLS work perfect. It did take some work with the dremel to get it right and had to add the shim. $40 was cheap enough for me to whack away with the dremel. For a while, I couldn't get it to consistently lock in. Sometimes it would and sometimes not. I had to examine it closely to see why and really it just need a bit more of the body cut back in a certain spot. That and cutting down the release lever on the inside too. That holster is great now. I have an older 90's Para P16-40 that wouldn't lock in after I had done all the work for the new Para. For some reason it needed to seat slightly deeper. A bit more dremel and now they both lock in solid. I was able to use a "T" shaped adapter from Safariland and drill holes to adapt an ELS clip to fit the GLS holster. I had the same issue lissted above with the ALS holster. Every time I drew the gun I would wind up with the thumb safety off. I couldn't get the gun out with out hitting the thumb safety. The GLS is very easy to use, Locks up totally secure and is natural to unlock.
  16. I using the +10% too with the Dawson pads. I've even used the factory para springs without any problems. The +10's were better though, less salt shaker.
  17. Well that sucks! I have the cheely magwell on my PC 18.9 and the 6 gun parts 9mm mags I bought will not work with the factory basepads either. They all do work for me when I swap out the pads for Dawson's pads. It's a hard seat with 22 rounds in the mags but they work. When I switch to the original factory Dawson PC magwell and use the Dawson pads it's a bit easier. I think the shoulder angle of the Dawson pads matches the inside magwell angle better than the cheely. Same thing with my PC 16.40. Very hard to seat with 20 rounds but will seat with GPC mags, the Dawson pads and cheely magwell. It's better and more usable with the factory Dawson magwell so on the PC 16.40 I'm not running the cheely magwell.
  18. I ordered mine direct from Mossberg. I converted an SPX to a 3gun shotgun by ordering the 24" turkey barrel and specified non ported. This was before the JM Pro came out. You may now be able to order a JM barrel from them.
  19. Pete627, I bet if you tune that base pad it'll lock right in. My magwell must sit a fraction closer to the frame to let the mags lock in. I have a good stock of them from my older P16-40 Signature including a couple STI para mags. Those old Para mags have been working perfectly in USPSA since the late 90's. Every couple of years I get some new springs. A few years ago I got some followers from a member here. That should keep me going for many years to come. These GPC mags will go in the safe for future use.
  20. Well my Gun Parts Corp Canadian .40 mags came today. All of them will lock in with Dawson pads in my PC 16.40. One has a swelling issue. If I put more than 5 rounds in it, the mag will stick. Other than that they are good to go for me!
  21. Well damn!! I was hoping for an easy solution to the PC mag shortage. I know the GPC 9mm's work in the pro custom with Dawson pads. I ordered a couple more just to have. I can only get 22 rounds with the Dawson pads on. I get 23.in the STI mags I use in my PC18.9. At least Gun parts Corp have a liberal return policy.
  22. Let me know how 40 mags fiit the gauge with the Dawson pads!!!
  23. I had just recieved them that day when u posted. Hope I didn't come off wrong in my post. I ordered some of the 40's now that I know what they are. I have an older para p16.40 signature that I've been using the old factory blue mag/Dawson pad combo for years and years and they fit the gauge with 20 rounds reloadable. I also have a new PC 16.40 that I will set up the new GPC mags with the same Dawson pads. On the GPC 9mm mags, I'm getting 22 rounds with the Dawson pad, factory insert and no follower tuning. I'm hoping I can squeeze 1 more in with some follower tuning and the Arredondo inserts...
