Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I noticed the same thing. OP, can you, using a bit of force, completely close the slide?(if you can, it will be pretty hard to open back) That would confirm barrel lugs aren't cut far enough Are you sure you know what you are talking about? nope my gun was doing the same thing, gunsmith just cut the lugs deeper

  3. left handed open shooter alpha breed reporting in The only gripe I have ever had shooting open guns left handed has just recently occured. I bought a used open gun on here which is tuned to eject brass forward, which happens to be exactly where my thumb is with the rescomp thumb rest I put on there. Haven't looked much into it (I know it's just a matter of filing the ejector but no time for careful tuning, plus it's my backup gun), but it is a real nuisance to have the brass hit your thumb on the way out
  4. dont want to derail the thread, but can you elaborate on the "trashed top end" issue? perhaps pics, perhaps details
  5. When I was playing with 400corbon I gathered some load from different sources. I have personally used springs #12 to #18 with different loads. With and without comp. I think #22 with a comp is overkill and dangerous given the pressure spikes easily achieved in this caliber (terrible neck tension due to only a few thou of bullet retension that even the most aggressive roll crimp won't cure 100%) Last I played with it I was loading 8.5gr HS-6 under a 165gn bullet for ~1000fps (#16 spring), very nice feel with the compensator. In the last times I noticed a bulge outside the barrel, so I just chucked the barrel away in the parts bin. I've been thinking about dusting it off, but then I remember the nights spent canneluring bullets, and I leave it there Here are some internet loads, I have not tested any of these except for those with HS-6 and Unique, so be careful. Also not sure if this 'Universal' is Uni or Uni clays... 135 gr 3N-37 From 9.2 grains to 10.4 grains CCI-300 Primer Herco From 8.5 grains to 10.1 grains CCI-300 Primer HS-6 From 10.1 grains to 11.3 grains CCI-300 Primer N-340 From 7.4 grains to 9.0 grains CCI-300 Primer Unique From 7.3 grains to 8.3 grains CCI-300 Primer Universal From 7.6 grains to 8.8 grains CCI-300 Primer WAP From 8.9 grains to 10.4 grains CCI-300 Primer W-540 From 10.4 grains to 12.0 grains CCI-300 Primer 150gr 3N-37 From 8.2 grains to 9.7 grains CCI-300 Primer AA-7 From 10.7 grains to 12.3 grains CCI-300 Primer Herco From 7.6 grains to 9.6 grains CCI-300 Primer HS-6 From 9.0 grains to 11.0 grains CCI-300 Primer N-340 From 6.8 grains to 8.3 grains CCI-300 Primer Universal From 7.0 grains to 8.2 grains CCI-300 Primer WAP From 7.8 grains to 9.8 grains CCI-300 Primer W-540 From 9.0 grains to 10.0 grains CCI-300 Primer 165gr 3N-37 From 7.4 grains to 9.2 grains CCI-300 Primer AA-7 From 10.1 grains to 11.7 grains CCI-300 Primer Herco From 6.9 grains to 8.5 grains CCI-300 Primer HS-6 From 7.9 grains to 9.9 grains CCI-300 Primer N-340 From 5.9 grains to 7.9 grains CCI-300 Primer Universal From 6.5 grains to 7.7 grains CCI-300 Primer WAP From 6.7 grains to 9.1 grains CCI-300 Primer W-540 From 8.5 grains to 10.1 grains CCI-300 Primer WSF From 7.6 grains to 8.2 grains CCI-300 Primer 180gr 3N-37 From 6.5 grains to 8.3 grains CCI-300 Primer AA-7 From 9.0 grains to 10.6 grains CCI-300 Primer Herco From 6.5 grains to 8.1 grains CCI-300 Primer HS-6 From 6.9 grains to 9.3 grains CCI-300 Primer N-340 From 6.0 grains to 7.2 grains CCI-300 Primer Universal From 6.1 grains to 6.9 grains CCI-300 Primer WAP From 6.4 grains to 8.4 grains CCI-300 Primer W-540 From 7.8 grains to 9.3 grains CCI-300 Primer
  6. try different mag catches I personally have 3 brands on hand: STI, Dawson precision posi-lock, SPS None of them seat the mags exactly the same way, and I listed them in my order of preference
  7. try an unmodified sear spring, if it still does it, try a different brand of sear spring
  8. when the frame is FUBAR, it's time to bring out the good ideas
  9. I'd like to hear more on this topic too. I am looking at doing just the same thing (except the spartan I have is a 45) From what I understand I could just remove the complete slide from the spartan, fit the new frame to the slide (no big sorcery), and go shoot it. The one thing I am worried about is wether or not the barrel timing would still be ok, but then again the spartan is a non-ramped barrel gun, so timing could be just a matter of using the right sized link (I have some wilson link kits to play around with)
  10. Why did it crack? bad barrel timing or?
