dear Glock-friends,
when disassembling my G19 (early 3rd gen. model, two pins) and pulling the barrel out of the slide, in 95% of all cases, i can see the firing pin safety cylinder half in and half out. not in a complete "on" or "off" position, but somewhere in between.
the firing pin can be manually pushed forward through the firing pin hole.
if i pull the firing pin back, the safety cylinder engages, moves fully in the outward/on position and the firing pin can not be moved forward through the firing pin hole again.
with my G17 (late 3rd. gen modell, 3 pins) the firing pin safety is in 95% of all cases fully engaged/on after disassembling the barrel from the slide and the firing pin can not be moved forward manually trough the firing pin hole.
i think it has something to do with how far you pull the slide back before pulling the disassembly lever in the frame downward.
if you pull back a little bit more than necessary the firing pin safety cylinder is pushed a little bit into the slide.
am i right, or do i have to worry about anything with the firing pin safety on my G17 and G19?
how can i check the firing pin safety for propper function, so that it will always engage, when not pulling the trigger?
best regards
dusty
