  1. I have a SX3 with the 28 inch VR. Tried going shorter to the SLP 22 inch cantilever. Barrel was heavier and changed the swing of my shotgun unfavorably. Any of the SLP barrels will be SX2 barrel profile and weight. Went back to the 28" and added a longer mag tube and a rear sight for slug zero.
  2. Thanks to everyone for updating this running dialogue. Called KKM this morning. New barrel for my 9L is on the way.
  3. I have a family and a life outside of 3 Gun; therefore, I will never make time to write a term paper or photo slideshow of an afternoon at the range. Pat, I like you. We squadded together at TX Multigun in April. Here is my offer to you: PM me your mailing address and I will mail my upper to Alaska. You take 60 days to shoot groups and take pictures. Send it back when you're done and post results to the forum.
  4. My hoser load is 55 grain Hornady FMJ-BT. I typically shoot paper and under 100 yd targets with the 55s and transition to 77s beyond 100. So, my shooting with 55s isn't very demanding. I do know that the 200 yd zero with 77s runs above POA from muzzle to 100 yards with the 55s and that I can still group under an inch for 5 x 55s at 100 yards. Sorry, nothing more precise or scientific with 55s. This is a 1:8 twist so I suspect it is gentler on lighter bullets than the more common 1:7 twist.
  5. Pat, I built an upper with the Criterion 18" hybrid after TX multigun this year. Firing my 77gr SMK handloads off a bench it will shoot 5 shot groups at 200 yards (my 3G zero) that could be covered with a nickel. Remember, the Criterion guys used to work at Krieger....they know accurate barrels.
  6. I had a great time shooting my first FNH match. More importantly, I learned a lot while working as an RO on Stage 5. Many thanks to Jim, Dan, Ken, Dave, Allen and Paul for sharing the work and the laughs. I look forward to seeing all of you next year.
  7. I had a great time shooting the match. Plenty of shooting challenges and a great balance of all three guns. Thanks to Rick, John, Chip and all of the ROs that made it happen despite the light rain and long days. I look forward to shooting matches with this crew in the future.
  8. The Surefire reps at Texas Multigun admitted that there were teething problems over the first two years of the 60 rounders being on the street. Current production has another weld near the top to prevent spreading of the feedlips or bulging of the magazine portion that inserts into the lower. Also said that they had some internal engineering upgrades to the springs, cams, follower.
  9. Dawson adjustable rear with FO front sight on the game pistol. 10-8 rear and bead front on the carry pistol.
  10. Looks like IDPA with rifle added. I don't object to any upstarts and trial balloons. Anything that gets more shooters out to the range for organized competition and camraderie is good for the shooting sports. Once guys get the bug there are opportunities to cross polinate and show the pros/cons of 3 Gun, USPSA, etc... as other venues to shoot.
  11. I loaded 32 pounds of 2200 up a few years ago. It shot well and brought down my 55 grain plinking ammo costs. Last two jugs I saw were at a Gun Show in Las Cruces, NM about four months ago.
  12. I shot a thousand of these last year as an experiment. Used Solo 1000. Don't remember the powder charge weight. They shot OK but ran kinda smoky from the lube. I went back to jacketed 147s.
  13. Handsome work. I guess that I have some more sanding to perform on my G34.
  14. Caspian also makes Glock slides. While they are known for their 1911 parts, the Glock slides I've seen were excellent specimens.
  15. Several of my friends have has success running the Atlanta Arms & Ammo loads. At times they also load ammunition for the Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) who are pretty particular about consistency and uniformity.
  16. If you have the time to process the brass without primers and then run it through again to load ammunition then your idea is very safe & conservative. For personal use I don't feel the need to mechanically sort .45 large and small primer brass. Perhaps there aren't enough shooters around here yet with the mutant SPP brass?
  17. I am also loading range picked 9mm brass. Please employ the U die and report back how it all turns out.
  18. Yes, try another slide stop. It sounds like the post is too short to interface with your followers.
  19. Shoot a couple hundred rounds. The spring will end up at its' compressed length. When that one grows shorter it is likely due to get replaced.
  20. I have a Winchester SX3 also. With US made chokes x4; Nordic: mag tube, mag cap, follower and magazine spring, bolt handle; Hi Viz fiber optic front sight. Sadly the raw score for US-made parts only covers a couple of the listed categories. It says Winchester on the receiver. I doubt the average cop on the street is trying to find CFR import compliance issues when he sees other good guys on the range. Heck, I seem to squad with 2-5 cops and DHS agents almost every Saturday. Please let us know what you hear from your query to ATF.
  21. The greatest advantage to Tek-Loks or ELS is modularity. If you intend to drop your shotgun caddies for pistol/rifle only stages you can pinch/pull and take off the part(s) that you aren't running. On the other hand, modularity costs money. If you want to add 6-8 ELS mounts to a Safariland belt then you will have $150-200 in hardware to create the platform. A more traditional inner/outer belt would be something like the DSG Arms 1.5 inch or 1.75 inch gunbelt set ups. Featuring double thickness webbing and a cobra buckle, you could recycle the mag pouches, holster and caddies which you already have for your Wilderness belt. This would be a fast donning rig without the modularity of Tek-Loks or ELS. Less investment for less quick change options.
  22. Don't tease us -- what is the short answer on best follower and source(s)?
  23. Did they say if the military order for M&P barrels or another brand of pistol?
