  1. Wow, some of those numbers are much lower than I expected. 25 production gms total? I expected pcco to be higher as well.
  2. Like stated above, perfectly fine, and even preferable. Many matches let you shoot more than one gun and I absolutely wont shoot outer limits with a rifle while I have a pistol in the holster. Leaves too much to chance. Throw it in a case and move on. It takes ten seconds longer to do that than to just holster it.
  3. Can't agree more. The beautiful thing about steel challenge is the universal repeat-ability of the stages. Ignoring environmental changes, the stages you shoot today will be the same as those shot next year. This lends itself well to deep numerical evaluation of many parts of the sport. I've got pages and binders of steel challenge info and notes from the matches I've shot. Go set up the stage and shoot it 50 times in each sequence, taking time to rest and keep your focus laser sharp. Record every string, split and every draw (especially if drawing to different targets in each sequence). Set down and do some crunching to see 1. Which way gives your current skill level better stage results? 2. Where are the gaps in my performance that can be improved? 3. How does my individual data compare from sequence A to sequence B? You can take this information and improve the areas where you are weak (faster draw, better transitions, more first shot hits on stop plate). The best sequence should become clear when you have the data at your current skill level, I wouldn't think that as your skill set improves, the best sequence for you would, but it never hurts to check again at a future date.
  4. Mine broke firing pins like it was it's job. It's a faxon bolt. I rounded the back of the striking surface to be perfectly round and haven't broke one in 12k rounds.
  5. Taccom ulw is the way to go for steel challenge. It's the fastest pointing barrel I've run yet. No problems with accuracy at all.
  6. i have not seen these particular pin switches used, but I would have it mounted to the side of the 2x4 and have a set of slotted holes for it to be finely adjustable. if .5 mm is total travel distance, I would also have an adjustable plate stop built into the mounting bracket to keep the plate from battering the switch when (if) the larger calibers are used
  7. At the nc state match a few of us bounced around an idea to have a little extra fun at a large match. We talked about setting up a few teams of 3 or 4 people and doing a best team time in 4 or 5 "divisions." So the divisions could be any rimfire iron, rimfire pistol, pcc, and centerfire pistol iron (or any chosen set). Best time for any team member that would fit into the chosen "divisions" would be added up to become the team score. Every team member tosses in x amount, and winning teams dinner/beer is paid for.
  8. Zack was talking about these a few weeks ago at the nc state championship. Depending on your view of how the par times should be in relation to real world statistics and percentages of top competitors, I can see par times needing to be decreased even further over the course of the next few years. At the nc match we had a guy run a 69 in rfro, even when the new par for 2019 is a 72. Andnd that's not just a random sampling of the best stages he's shot over the course of a year, that's what he shot in one match.
  9. I don't believe that "super steel" is anything recognized by uspsa. Sounds like you may be talking about a falling steel match, as steel challenge targets are stationary and fixed. It will be up to the match director what calibers are allowed, but most in this neck of the woods require 9mm minimum.
  10. Did you or the customer fire the rifle yet? I am interested in the effectiveness of the mid brake as well as the tendency to put your hand close to that port. EDIT: missed the info further up. Thanks!
  11. For what it's worth I broke a new taccom pin in less than 1k in a faxon gen 2 bolt
  12. After cleaning and examining the gun, it appears the mag block ramp is much too low for good feeding. The bullets change angles a few times as the bolt pushes it forward from magazine to ramp to chamber taper to chamber. I'm going to see if I can pull the mag block apart and raise the ramp up, even though it's not made to move.
  13. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll give them a shot. Bart: Are you talking about the feed ramps on the front of the hahn block or are you talking about a ramped barrel. I bought this PCC knowing absolutely nothing about the AR platform, and it does not have a ramped barrel. (and of course this leaves a "jump" from ramp to chamber.) This is one of the reasons I am looking to purchase/build another with a 9mm lower and pre-built upper. I'll make some changes and put a thousand through it to see if I have any more hiccups, and report back.
  14. Brownells mags. I'm using a blitzkrieg buffer and 308 spring, but I've tried other combos with the same problems.
  15. My searches have not turned up what I am looking for. I am having an occasional issue of a failure to feed. I have a spikes lower with Hahn mag block, faxon bolt in spikes slick side upper. My problem is that occasionally i will have a round leave the magazine in an extremely upward direction. The round ends up aimed much higher than the chamber, and rams against the back of the barrel above the chamber. Has anyone had this issue before, and are there any known fixes. I'm building a new pcc that will have a dedicated lower and glock mags, but this one will still be the back up, so I need it dependable.
  16. Seems like this is settled, so let me parlay this into another question that crossed my mind while reading this thread. If a chair were to give way (break) while a competitor is sitting in it after the make ready command, and during the fall, his pistol comes out of the holster (now loaded). Is this still a dq? I'm not an RO but am planning to take an RO course in August so this one has me wondering. And in the same light, how about if the wind blows over a card table on a table start with a pistol on top? Just some food for thought so I can learn more and more.
  17. Same deal here, just broke the new taccom with less than 1500 rds. Hyperfire 24c.
  18. I know this post is a couple weeks old, but does anyone have any idea if the wilson will fit a faxon bolt? The new taccom does, but the cmmg is too thick too close to the point to fit in the faxon bolt.
  19. My pins don't look battered, but I keep breaking the nib off the end. Only thing I can think of besides the trigger is a worn or incorrect fp return spring, both will be replaced this go round.
  20. It was the new taccom pin I broke today. Roughly 1500 rounds. I'm going to try to get the next set of springs, this trigger came in a gun I purchased without the extras.
  21. I like the list, and think it's a pretty safe bet that it will produce a reliable pcc. My question is about the hyperfire with silver springs. I've been breaking firing pins every 1500-2000 rounds with mine. Has anyone else experienced such frequent breakage? It's always the nib on the end. I've tried a few different brands without much success. Faxon bolt.
  22. I'm jealous. Every time I check their website, it says out of stock for all hats.
  23. I bought a few extras from primary machine when they put them on sale. Pm inbound
  24. If you havent done the "bolo adjustment for longer da pull" I would definitely start there. That may not be the actual problem, but it may be a free solution. Mine wouldn't pop cci primers 60% of the time. Now it eats them like skittles.
