  1. Yes, because downloading my 18 round capacity 2011 to 10+ 1 makes too much sense. I wish I had less ammo in a shootout.... said no man ever.
  2. Your looking for logic. Don't. It's another outlet for us to get some fun trigger time in. Let's face it, the people that actually use ther carry gun in IDPA are in the extreme minority. It's a game. Have fun!
  3. Great shooting Rowdy. Looked like a solid performance. Thanks for sharing.
  4. Looks like our current rulebook couldn't even stay consistent for 1 year without having revisions. Normally I'd be bent about a rule change so soon after the new release. But I'll make an acception for this one! 30rd PCC! Yes, there was an amendment to the rules and we can now rock high cap mags! This was published yesterday.
  5. If you don't win, we know it wasn't the gun right? But since STI D/C'd the Eagle, the Hex would be the next choice. I was able to quickly find several websites with a Hex double stack in .45.
  6. Call either Dawson or Brazos and see if either have an Eagle in .45. Definitely not the most popular caliber of Eagle. Too bad the Tac series is bull barrel or that would be a good choice as well.
  7. If you're used to shooting double stacks, the single stack 1911 reload will definitely be less forgiving. But I also know that you're dedicated to the sport and are willing to put in the dry fire practice. That being said, our club has very competitive shooters running XDs' and M&Ps in CDP. I have a tendency to buy what I like and spend more than necessary. So for me to shoot a double stack in CDP, I'd choose a 2011. But there are far more value oriented guns to choose from. And disregard what people have to say about you shooting in a lower classification in another division.
  8. Congrats Rowdy! Have you shot this match in the past? If so, how did this match compare to the previous? I've heard/read some mixed reviews about the matches in Arkansas. Our club had some members compete and they had maybe 1 or 2 concerns but overall a good experience. Your thoughts?

    ESP legal?

The Costa VIP is just a hair too long and only fits height wise without a mag. My STI guardian is a CCO and fits the box. But that's a single stack.

    ESP legal?

Last year I bought a Costa VIP right after they were released.

    ESP legal?

I suppose the real issue is trying to find the logic in things. When there doesn't have to be. We'd like there to be. But there isn't. It's a game. We can either choose to accept what the rules are, lobby to have them changed or move on. I was more than pissed when they changed the dimensions of CCP. I still haven't made peace with that. But that's my problem. I can choose to accept it, lobby to change it or move on. I know that lobbying will get me nowhere. I refuse to accept that a $2600 gun I bought with the sole intention of using for a very specific division in a very specific sport is no longer legal. So that leaves me with moving on. And I will. By spending ridiculous (relative term) money to make this gun legal and allowing me to have a 2011 in CCP.

    ESP legal?

I wonder if part of the problem lies with the product description on the site. It claims to have a lightened slide and these are not production pistols but semi customs. Even though we're talking 1/10ths of ounces, the panel cuts would be less weight than the slide serrations.

    ESP legal?

No one is saying the Briley is illegal. The slide milling is very subdued. I'd go out on a limb and say you'd be ok with it. But it wouldn't hurt to ask your AC.

    ESP legal?

Yes it would. Provided the slide isn't all milled up USPSA style.
  15. So I ran several powders using bayou's 180gr bullet in last week's low light match. So.... coated bullets and upper end powder charges seem to not be conducive to low light shooting. Thank goodness there want anything more than 2 shots per target because things get real smokey really quick. Other than that, I was able to get a real good idea of what kind of muzzle flash I could expect from each powder at their respective charge. N350 took 1st place. Muzzle flash was nearly non-existent. Second was too close to tell without a slo-mo cam. Silhouette and BE-86 both had very minimal flash but it was more than N350. With that being said, N350 also had the lightest charge of the 3 so that may have considerable impact on the results. If I had to choose a powder for HD purposes, I'd probably select N350. BE-86 and silhouette were also great, but geared more towards the 1300fps, really required complete focus and a fierce grip on the gun. Meaning I could probably get away with a 1hd shot using N350. The other 2 powders would induce a malfunction if not handled with the respect they demanded. Or maybe that's just my wimpy wrists fault.
  16. I think we can all agree that SSP is anything but. That's what irks me about people constantly pushing the envelope for equipment. If you want to modify your gun, shoot ESP.
  17. My wife and I have been fans of the Fast and the Furious since the beginning. While this one wasn't my favorite chapter to the story, it did deliver the usual high energy car chases, crashes, fist fights and mayhem we've all come to expect. It was enjoyable and I'll probably get the blu-ray when it comes out. **SPOILER ALERT** My favorite part of the movie comes at the end when one of the actors uses a gorgeous, duo tone, AET sight tracker, double stack SVI. It was sweet....
  18. Bull barrels are not prohibited. Heavy and Cone style barrels are. Generally, a bull barrel would fit that description. But that would also generally be referring to 1911 barrels. So if the Sig barrel matches the profile of a heavy or Cone style barrel, then yes, it's illegal. But if it doesn't, then it doesn't matter what they call it. I haven't seen one in person, but the pics I could find online don't show that much meat around the muzzle. IMO. Edit: Take a look at the Tanfo Stock III. That's a heavy or Cone style barrel. Lots of meat on that barrel/muzzle.
  19. Did the 147gr feel any different than the 115gr besides the malfunctions? Even when bench testing, was there any difference in dot movement that you could tell?
  20. I'm not entirely familiar with the platform. What changes would you need to make?
  21. If you have to modify the gun externally in any way, it would be ESP legal, but not SSP.
  22. Yup, just received an email from him as well. He's currently backed up but does still accept work.
  23. Pass. For me, the appeal of the CZ/clones was the metal frame. I'm not a polymer gun guy. The only reason I selected Tanfo over CZ was the large frame. The polymer frame this offers goes against what made these guns popular to begin with. IMHO. YMMV.
  24. +1 Been using Clay Dot since after the Aussie Clays factory burned. Ive also experimented with both Prima V and SV. Since I'm such of fan of Clays (Clay Dot) that I have a natural gravitation to Prima SV. The Prima line of powders are a great value, but I think I still get more bang for my buck buying 8# jugs of Clay Dot.
