  1. Vary seating depth with the most accurate charge you determined in step one. But, you should definitely check your magazines for max length possible. Why Varget? Have you tried a 75-77 grain bullet yet? What is your barrel twist rate and length?
  2. Nosler and Norma both offer 6.5 Creedmoor brass. As a matter of fact, I'm about to buy some Nosler (future bolt gun) and Hornady (future semi-auto could be hard on them, so use cheaper cases) brass myself. If I ever get good enough at the long range games to need the slight possible advantage of a 6mm round, I'll call that a good problem! Meanwhile, 6.5 Creedmoor for me.
  3. The question of Light Modified choke with slugs is a settled issue. This thread is great. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=192616&hl Response #8 answers your question about round count. Enjoy LM, if you wish.
  4. I used a Briley LM extended and shot slugs and birdshot with no problems detected.
  5. For my taste, the XRAIL gets too heavy when you load it all the way up. I decided to switch to a 1919 with many Tooth & Nail parts added after. In hindsight, I'd rather have just bought a T&N gun straight away. Ironically I haven't used it yet in a match, but it feels remarkably different in the hand when loaded compared to my XRAIL + VersaMax.
  6. Much more room under the AP Customs for a gas block than the KMR (or others of similar dimensions like SLR, etc) Don't forget that issue.
  7. One of our members here has used one. Build pics in this thread: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=204061&page=2
  8. I've been doing the heavy (75 grain) for my zero and then using some form of 55 grain as in close hoser ammo. However, I'm about to just chuck that idea and try using one load. My needs for long range precision rifle are driving me into handloading so I'll cook up a load for my 3-gun rifle once I complete the redesign.
  9. I was running the Viper PST 2.5-10x44 until I started this current redesign cycle. You noticed the eye relief change too? Or at least something that I perceived as that was happening. I'd probably get the Aero SPR and finagle it anyway.
  10. PEPR is made in China. Where is the Vortex made? I support the Chinese economy too much already so I'm looking to avoid them where I can.
  11. I think this would have been a better post for the Precision Rifle section, perhaps? To your question, I'm afraid that I do not know the answer.
  12. Thank you very much for the clarification and your other thoughts on caliber. I've been kicking around the idea of remaking a receiver set into either 6.5G or some 6mm variant (6mm AR, 243 LBC, or 6x6.8mm, to name a few) for longer range Designated Marksman type matches.
  13. Very true. Much as I had expected. But, I would think that some intrepid fact-checking soul would have done it once somewhere and posted the result for the world to see. I haven't found it. I was hoping that one of you had found such data.
  14. Very nice. Has anybody ever found the receiver set weight for this product line? Saying it's lighter weight is one thing. Having actual measurement data to prove it and by how much is a different thing. Based on coltlover's measurements of total rifle weight, it must be reasonably significant. Yet, by how much exactly in the receivers? Thanks.
  15. I would love to do the same for similar reasons. I haven't heard anything about g2 barrels.
  16. It looks lovely. I very much like what you have done with that platform!!
  17. We probably should have moved it to this subsection, I agree. Given that my son and my older daughter suddenly expressed interest in rifles, I may be in the market for these in a few months (6.5 Creedmoor definitely). Or my daughter could surprise me again (after asking to go to the range) and take a shine to shotguns or 3-gun. I won't make any more assumptions. I clearly don't know what interests her these days!
  18. In all of the talk about how easy it would be to change barrels, one item is unclear to me. Who actually makes barrels for this platform? Or are we expecting some third parties to step in soon?
  19. I don't like the mounting on my Gen 1. I think that it leaves too much flexibility on one of the two that I have. I'm unsure what the problem is on that one. The first one that is much older Gen 1 seems more solid. Different uppers by different makers. Barrel nut is new and not milspec on Gen 2. I hear that is a more reliably rigid assembly.
  20. JP just posted a link to a new version of their JPoint (http://jprifles.com/buy.php?item=JPOINTCD) I give that for informational purposes only. Since my vision works very well with small dots inside circles like my EOtech, I was interested immediately. I've been holding off on a new sight for my Open/Unlimited pistol because the Burris FastFires are too tall for the suppressor sights on the M&P. If this were to work with my eyes/visual system like my EOtech, I'd be much more confident and be faster with my pistol. And my offset rifle red dot, truth be told. :-) Has anyone actually seen this new JPoint in person on any platform at all? Perhaps as a bonus stage or other special sponsor event at a match? Thanks! [edited to add in the URL that I forgot to include before]
  21. Any current thoughts from Stretch 16 users on what heavier bullets (69 grain and up) it may like more than others?
