  1. I decided to keep our weekly Monday night IDPA match on the schedule in spite of it being New Year's Day.

I was expecting about 30 regular shooters.

    I've got 56 signed up.

We also have to go to twice a day matches (3pm and 6pm) in Jan, Feb and Mar to get all the seasonal shooters in.

A proper, concise, and clear stage description fixes 90% of those issues.  The other 10% is going to require fixing the rulebook

    I agree 100% 😀

BTW, why does IDPA need an SO walkthrough of all the stages?

Probably to make sure everybody is on the same page when shooting the stage with regards to barriers, limits, etc.

Just like it explains in 3.3.1 of the rule book.

I just looked over the stages for a local IDPA match this Saturday.

One of them requires that you engage a target array in tactical sequence.  A target engagement procedure that was deleted and outlawed four years ago.

I'm sure they meant Tactical Priority but just flubbed the description.

  5. Our 5 scoring tablets are now set up with static IP's as are the Master tablets.

When I logged into the router to see the addresses it was pretty much an ugly mess and my "troublesome" tablet was sitting at "247".

Now they're all set at the front of the pack with manageable addresses.

And I do believe I'll reboot that router once a month, just for good measure.

It's hard to get good help around our stats shack, that's for sure!

There are a lot of parts for the Ruger pc I would recommend to replace the extractor with one sold by Mcarbo . It should eliminate extraction problems . They also sell a trigger kit .

Ditto on the Mcarbo extractor for the Ruger.

Look at a factory extractor vs the Mcarbo.   The difference (for the good) will be obvious.

... . . .but if someone who is physically capable refuses to help, I don't have any problem just not resetting their stage for their turn to shoot. If that doesn't work, next step is to say we're not running the timer or tablet for you, find another squad.

    I kind of like that.

I see the guys sitting on the bench just watching the other 10 guys shoot and then waltz up when it's their turn.

I may have to issue a slight nudge to get these guys moving, or like you said, let them reset their own stage when they're up..

  8. We've done the "two timer" thing also.   Works well and if you mark the "PCC timer" with tape, then everyone knows that's the one to use when the PCC guys show up.

Hopefully you'll have enough timers on hand to do this and seeing as how most shooters have a timer in their bag, it gets borrowed for the match from time to time.

Of course when you "borrow" one of the AMG timers, it works even better!

  9. I was debating whether or not to reply to the thread as the last time I did this I caught all kinds of grief, but not from this forum.

I am in the Revolver minority with regards to equipment.

    Stone Stock S&W 686.

    Safariland J-GL8S III speed loaders.

Factory ammo that's on sale in bulk.  (Yes, it even makes PF in ICORE)

    Plain Fobus LK-4 holster.

Yes, you can make Master in IDPA if you can reload.   The reloads take a LOT of time to practice and several Band-Aids to fix your hands.

If you're not bleeding, you're not practicing those reloads enough!!

The 686 is very accurate right out of the box and seeing how IDPA has the six round capacity limit, it's a perfect fit.

A Ruger GP-100 is my backup should the 686 crap out during a match.  It hasn't so far.

No.  As George wrote above, it depends on the berms.  For USPSA what you do is generally the case.  For SCSA some clubs do not have bays deep enough to handle a 35 yard Classifier and still have room for a cone, etc.  So they mandate you bring your rifle to the start table in a zipped case.

Here is an example.  One club has only 25 yard bays.  For Showdown and Outer Limits the start box would be at, or beyond the concrete walls of the bay.  You can't be uncasing or uncarting downrange, so the only option is to bring the rifle to the start table or box and uncase or uncart after Make Ready.

    OK.  That makes perfect sense.

    Thanks.

  11. From reading this thread so far can it be that I'm the only person who unbags at a table at the side berm and walks to the starting position with the PCC flagged and vertical when it's my turn to shoot?

After the stage is completed, I flag and then carry the PCC back to the table (vertical, of course) and rebag and zip closed.

I do not bring my entire bag/case to the line, just the PCC.

  12. And in a more serious note (I'm an iron sight, 6 shooter guy, how serious can I be?)  anyway, the email to ICORE was answered promptly with a Paypal invoice.

Paid it, got the receipt.  Numbers updated.

ICORE membership packet showed up via postal mail shortly thereafter.

After all my whining and complaining about it, the entire renewal went very smoothly and quickly.

Some clubs will not allow PCC in their all Steel matches.  The basic argument is

    that it takes too long.

    That's odd.

Steel Challenge is the perfect place to shoot both iron and optic PCC's.

The guys slowing up the group are NOT the PCC guys, at least not at our 5 matches a month.
