Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. My xDM 5.25 likes a shorter OAL of 1.110. I run 4 gr on VV N320 under a MG 124 JHP. Works well for me but YMMV.
  2. I like both WSPP and CCI with CCI being a bit harder, but I do like the feel you get when they snap in the primer pocket when loading on a Dillon SDB. The only issue I have with them is they have a tendency to stick to the de-primer punch and get pulled back up into the primer pocket. I have taken out the little blue catch cup and use a sandwich size tupperware bowl so I get audio confirmation of the primer hitting the bowl and know that the primer fell free before moving on. I've had no issues with either going bang every time in my STI 2011 38 SC and I have loaded several K of each.
  3. Almost the exact load that I was running, 8.2 gr of VV N350 under a MG 124 JHP. I was making 185 PF so I backed it down in small increments and settled at 7.8 gr making 175 PF, the accuracy hasn't degraded and the gun still shoots very flat. Hey I get a few more loads from a keg of powder! OAL is same as yours at 1.235.
  4. Maybe no one else has this problem with virgin or brass that has been cleaned to the point that the crud on the inside of the case is gone. That crud actually acts as a lubricant on stage two of my Dillon SDB. You can polish the powder funnel and that will help to some degree but I still get cases sticking when they're new. So I guess to each his own, but I prefer the cases coming out, powered, primed and moving on.
  5. rc51g, I wish the shooters kids would find them and bring them to me! Thx for the compliment on my Z. She's my baby and a beast to say the least.
  6. I just received tracking info for an order that I placed on 8/15 with a scheduled delivery date of next Wednesday. Not to bad of a wait and free shipping to boot!
  7. +1 for Canyon Creek. Get their base pad and the Grams spring and follower and you're set for 23 +1 in 9mm and 21 in 40, you didn't say what caliber you're shooting but I have this setup on one of my stock Springfield tubes in 9mm and love it.
  8. CZ, Thanks again and post #15 has been copied and added to my reloading folder.
  9. CZ85Combat, Thanks for the input and at 1.110 I'm not near the rifling. Doing the plunk test with the barrel out of the gun the rounds just fall in and out. I can't even push them down and not be able to spin them freely so I think I'm ok there. I haven't loaded any up at 4.2, just stuck with what I knew worked which was 4.0 gr. It's just the short oal that worries me as I haven't ever had to load that short before. Like I said earlier, it will go to 1.120 without any problems but the accuracy was much better at 1.110. Your video is exactly what I want to avoid and I really appreciate the response. Nimitz, thank you for your response as well. Bullets are just as different as each gun. What mine loves yours may hate etc.... Thanks again....
  10. I know this thread is a few weeks old but I'm facing the same questions with my XDM 5.25 and MG 124 JHP's. My gun will not take an oal with these bullets past 1.122. I'm loading 4.0 gr of n320 with the JHP's, either WIN or R/P brass and CCI spp's . I just got these bullets and have been loading RN/FMJ's to VV recommended oal of 1.142 with no issues. I decided to work up some loads to see what the gun liked best so I loaded 10 at an oal of 1.120, 10 at 1.115 and 10 at 1.110. The gun ran all three oal's with out a single problem and the best grouping was with the ones loaded to 1.110. The cases don't show any signs of an issue but I'm new to reloading and this is my first time loading anything other than round nose bullets and safety is my first priority. I was thinking of bumping up the charge to 4.2 gr to see if the accuracy would be even better with a touch more speed. Without much load data to work with I just wanted to post this up to see if I'm pushing the safety limits or if I should be good to go. I have done dozens of searches both here and on other forums and read dozens of posts, but I still want to be safe, so I post here for your feedback. Thanks in advance...

ETexPops - Shooters Connection doesn't list a Blade Tech DOH holster for the Xdm 5.25, unless I'm missing something. Did you get the DOH for the 5" XD? Looking to put together the right gear for shooting production with a 9mm XDm 5.25. Thanks in advance. Sure they do; DOH for Springfield XD. Scroll down the gun selection and you will see XDm 5.25. Shooter Connection XD DOH Well slap me nacked! Thank you much ETexPops, I must be blind.

  14. My Comp-Tac just came in Monday. I got the paddle (left handed) and it fits perfect. It rides a little high for my liking but that is only due to having some love handles hanging over the belt. I used it last night at my local indoor competition and I really liked it. I have not gotten any mag holders from Comp-Tac so I can not speak to them but if they are as quality as the holster then I'm sure you will not have a problem. My current setup is 3 additional mags (1 double mag and 1 single mag Uncle Mikes) which I like in case I need to make an unplanned reload or I have a complete melt down Belt is Uncle Mikes also, I went cheap (I think I'm into the mag holders and belt $50?) and it works fine for me as a newer shooter setup. Hope this helps! mwin, Thank you for the feedback I really appreciate it.
  15. Newbie question so appologies in advance. Being new to the sport, would it be possible for someone to list the specifics of what you need to buy from CompTac to put together a competition setup? Holster (model), belt, mag holders (model and how many) etc? I have the new Xdm 5.25 and would like to start buying what I will need once I learn to shoot a tad better. BTW - I will be shooting Production. Thanks in advance.
