  1. I had already replaced the striker to get it working safely again. As an experiment I've put the original striker block back in the slide and will monitor for a few hundred rounds to see if it starts happening again. Honestly, I cannot tell a difference between the APEX or the stock striker block. I may leave it in permanently just so I don't have to fart with that rear sight again (although it did seem to come out a bit easier than I remember).

There were some APEX USB's that had some interference with strikers. You may want to contact them, they might replace yours.

  2. Optic question. I currently use an Eotech EXPS 3-0 with a separate Aimpoint magnifier on a flip to side mount. Does this conflict with rule: 4.2.2. Rifles are allowed any single optic [2016 addendum]

At other matches, the magnifier has not been considered an optic since it doesn't have a reticle/can't be used by itself.

I'd like to acquire a 1-4 or a 1-6 before the match, but that might not be possible. So I have to ask, is my set up legal?

  3. Not quite.

    This also applies:

9.2.1 Every IDPA member must shoot the Classifier at least once every twelve months, except Master and Distinguished Master class shooters. A Match Performance Promotion in the last twelve months in a Division counts as shooting the IDPA Classifier in that Division. Shooting and completing a Sanctioned IDPA match in the last twelve months (without a DQ or DNF) also counts as shooting a Classifier in the division in which the shooter competed.

So if you completed any sanctioned match in SSP in the last year, you're good to go.

This will be my first sanctioned match, so unfortunately that doesn't apply.

Then get thee to a Classifier!

  5. WOW! Everything will live on the Interweb forever!!! (or, at least, make it easy for us to find things :goof: )

VNGunfighter received an e-mail on 16JAN16, part of which is quoted below....

"I’m Mike Waidelich and I was the Executive Officer for the SOF 3 Gun Match for 19 years. I saw the webpage on the Resurgence 3 Gun Match. It says nice things about our original 3 gun event, and It is great that someone wants to get back to the original format.

I thought I might offer my assistance in some way. Perhaps just answer any questions about the way the original event was administered, designed or scored.

    At any rate, Good Luck,

    Mike Waidelich"

We are in contact with Mike and all I can say is.....

Our practical execution and historical background ability for the Resurgence has just gotten "LARGE X HUGE"!!!

    ericm

That is fantastic. Myself and a friend will be trying to get into this. It's in our home state after all.

  6. I thought the 9L was discontinued a few years ago. Many just bought the L and built on it

I think it was discontinued but now is back. As said above if the 9L is cheaper just go with that, an apex sear and new sights wld be my first addition to either model.

I think the 9L is only back as a 9L CORE.

  7. The Wild Bunch

After Pike(William Holden) and the boys blasted the Mexican general who had just cut the throat of their friend Angel and they are all facing the whole Mexican army. Nobody is moving, then Ben Johnson says:

"We got these sonsabitches buffaloed." so then Pike shoots the German general and the final fight was on.

You can't help but like a movie that burned through 30,000 rounds of 30.06 in a water cooled Browning just making the last fight scene.

One of the best movies, ever.

    "Let's go."

    "Why not."

  8. I am not an IDPA shooter. As long as these regular drastic rule changes keep taking place without consulting the membership I can guarantee you that neither myself nor any of the shooters I'm around regularly will ever shoot IDPA. I guess IDPA wants to die off with the baby boomer generation?

IDPA "membership" is not really membership in terms most people think of. You don't have much say in the company which is run solely by Joyce. The only say the membership has is what she says you have or you vote with your renewal dues.

Interesting. IDPA looks less attractive with each passing day.

    Troll.

  9. I have shot in non-idpa matches where the outlaw rules basically doubled all penalties, like you have mentioned.

It completely changes the way you shoot. You CANNOT afford to hit anything but -0. Heck 2 shots in a -1 will kill your stage.

Edited: for me it ends up being quite boring because you cannot afford to shoot fast.

    Shooting accurately is boring?

When the focus is only accuracy, HELL YES

Been to a bullseye pistol match lately? It's like a nursing home

I guess you have to give up all your speed to get any accuracy.

  10. Watching the news this morning brought it all back. Let us all remember not only those that fell at the Trade Center, but those that have fallen since, in the fight against terrorism. God bless America and God bless our warriors who keep us safe.attachicon.gif911.jpg

    Agreed.

Never forget those who died, never forget those who killed them.

  11. What's "Retention"

Is retention actually covered in the Rule Book? I didn't see it. Or is this just tribal knowledge?

No, it isn't. It has a clarification from HQ saying "The written stage description should describe what constitutes shooting from retention. The description must be easily understood and measurable by the SO."

Everywhere I've shot defines it as any part of the strong hand arm, from the elbow to the wrist, touching the side. It can be one or two hands.
