  1. I get it. You're a "rebel". You want to shoot in a competitive sport, but don't want to even attempt to understand the rules of that sport. Your not understanding basic things like membership and Classifications shows this.

If I began shooting USPSA, I would read their rulebook. Which is quite a bit bigger than IDPA's.

People don't join a baseball league and say "I'm a rebel, so I'll run around the bases clockwise".

  2. They both appear to be OEM extractors. The MIM is newer. My rule of thumb for M&P extractors is: run them until you have an extraction issue. At that point, replace them with APEX FRE's. Sometimes they work great from the factory, my wife's M&P is still on the original extractor. 3 out of 4 of mine have an FRE.

  3. Except for the fact that a lot of major IDPA matches require membership and classification to participate.

Of course they do. And it's not "a lot of" major matches, it's every single one of them. That's the point. It's a match requirement to be currently classified to participate in that match, but it's an IDPA membership requirement to be classified.

shoot the classifier. matches happen all the time, the classifier doesn't. it's also really the only constant with which to track your progress.

    Bingo.

  4. Most clubs follow the rules. You don't NEED to shoot a Classifier yet, but "participating in major matches" has nothing to do with being Classified.

3.19.5 I will maintain an accurate Classification by shooting a Classifier at least every 12 months. Unless a Master or Distinguished Master Classification is attained, a Match Performance Promotion has occurred in the last 12 months, or a Sanctioned Match has been completed in the last 12 months without DNF or DQ. See rule 9.2 for more details.

  5. Yes, but I think everyone agrees that the whole point of IDPA is to make up on the fly whatever rules are necessary to penalize and drive off the younger and more skilled shooters, and those who practice more.

No, we don't all agree with you on that.

True, in a free country you are entitled to be mistaken.

And you are entitled to go through life without a clue.

That's a FTDR penalty right there for name calling. And maybe a procedural or two as well... let me check my tribe's version of the rulebook.

Your trolling skills are impressive, but no name was called.

  7. FWIW, found out the hard way, that the fitting instructions for the front end of the barrel, in the video, PDF and in the packaging, are wrong.

If muzzle does not enter hole in slide, CORRECT area to file is the upper raised pad, from 10 to 2 o'clock, not the non existing fitting pads described.

Not sure when change in barrel shape occurred, but current barrels have a redesigned muzzle fitting area, compared to original, while breech end is unchanged.

Hopefully new instructions will be disseminated soon, before more unnecessary filing occurs

Did you contact APEX about this?
