In other words it is a DUD! I heard, and read this over the net. It looks like they are having the same issues as the RTS2, but C-More has it now corrected, hopefully, Leopold will as well.

That might be a little stretch.  I have only heard of 2 total people with DPP's  issues and one of them pixilated so the dot wasn't round.  Nearly every RTS2 had multiple issues.  I now have 5 DPPs on open guns and PCC rifles and have yet to have an issue in nearly 100k rounds in one year.  I also know of at least 20 other DPPs being used without issue.  So no, they are not a dud.

  2. Only in rare circumstances ( stages) is an iron sight gun is as fast as an open gun.  It is very simple that target focus is naturally faster than sight focus.  You can index an open gun the same as a limited gun on close targets.
What you are seeing I think is some stages simply limit the advantages of Open.  I have shot hoser matches and said, " I could have done just as well with my Limited gun"  I have never said, "I would have done better with my limited gun" .

I shot both, but with different platforms.  Limited is definitely faster on close targets that are mostly hidden behind a no-shoot.  The dot is 2" above the bore on my Open gun, and you definitely have to take that into account on close targets.  Also, when you are racing past close targets, the dot is a distraction.  On such targets I definitely liked my Limited gun better.

Splits on both guns are pretty close to the same.  At targets 25 yards away and farther, the dot really helps.  I can shoot two alphas much more quickly with the dot.

Most of the stages at the clubs I shoot at are set up to make absolutely sure you cannot pick two positions and spray the entire stage.  You have to cover the same ground as everyone else, so there is no distinct advantage of one over the other.

Wuuuuut?  So you are saying your splits on a 15 yd target with a limited gun are the same as with an Open gun?

  4. The RTS2 was a good stop gap to the DPP when it worked.  The DPP has been good to go out of the box and we didn't have to beta test it for Leupold.  The DPP is brighter and more robust that the RTS2 will ever be.  The problems do seem to finally be fixed with the RTS2 but at the chagrin of many customers who got their ass kicked by it for 2 years

  5. Are these new mount for sale yet?

    New mounts.

They aren't and they never will be so far as I know. These were custom made for the Akai guys. They started as 80% Phoenix Trinity mounts that one of our guys finished for the Delta Point Pros You might contact PT and see if they would make some more

  6. Beaufort across the river from hilton head. Have been looking for some pistol and rifle and possibly 3gun matches in the state but there doesn't seem to be many options. Would love to know where you go to compete within a reasonable drive.

SC is FULL of matches. What do you consider a reasonable distance. You can literally shoot 8 or more matches a month.

  7. Cummins ??

Yes sir, million mile motors, dropped into 100k mile trucks!

Yep. Motor is great. Wrapper sucks. 100k is quite optimistic in my experience.

So, so true. I have the opposite problem: a 2i006 Ford 6.0 diesel. Wrapper is perfect. Engine would be good only as ballast in a garbage barge.

Ah....You got the Power Choke version...

Yep. I keep asking if it's possible to eventually swap a 7.4L in its place, and the mechanics keep saying no. If I ask enough of them, somebody will say what I want to hear... right?

You sure can put a Cummins in there.
