  1. Hi Shred - I agree with you, though for a different reason. I am not convinced that the diffence in "flight time" to the target matters. What does seem to matter is that a faster bullet requires less follow-through to make an accurate hit. For example: it is very challengeing to shoot an Olympic air-pistol well without keeping the gun on target for a moment after the shot is fired. Why? - because the pellet is only travelling at 300 to 400 fps and it stays in the barrel for a comparatively long time. In contrast, a steel challenge load at 1200 to 1400 FPS leaves the barrel sooner after the hammer falls. Fast, light bullets would appear to be optimal for SC.
  2. That is about what I could manage with my Colt upper and 115 Montana JHPs over a lot of N350. Same result with Hirtenberger L7A1. Turned out not to be that great of a 3gun rifle & I saved it for "carbine" shoots. Anything near 100 yards and I'd opt for a 5.56mm.
  3. Thanks for the report Buddy! Getting swepped constantly is bad enough, but I hear that often the FIRST thing that show-go ers often do when they pick up a gun is put there finger on the trigger. Any truth to this? And if so, how did gun safety get this bad in America? Also heard there was a ND - which makes all the sweeping and fingering that much more serious. Hope I am wrong, or if not then that something is done for next year.
  4. BATFE gunroom Surprising what they have decided to keep around. This is probably a tiny fraction of what has been destroyed.
  5. Too rich for my blood, but here are some great pictures of interesting historic guns supposedly owned by one of the NRA's former board members (no, it was not Joaquin Jackson!). LINK TO AUCTION SITE WITH PHOTOS?

    GSG-5

Its about time that a .22 manufacturer actaully made a gun with a factory capacity over 10 rounds. What gives with virtually EVERY OTHER .22 maker out there? Do they know the AWB is over? (for now).
  7. Guess that's one way to get an new public defender. They don't pay those folks near enough considering what the work entails.
  8. This is a great accomplishment - particularly considering the challenges facing IPSC in Denmark and Bulgaria where the government is trying to restrict or ban IPSC because they do not consider it a "sport."
  9. As a "caustic" side note: This is typical of Beretta, they have "earned" their reputation. What "ammo" are you using, or what primers if you reload? I ask that, since I've had a shotgun that wouldn't reliably "set-off" a particular primer, and no problem with another brand. Maybe you try that before you go "mechanical"...so to speak. Agree - Beretta's response is laughable. How could they write something that stupid? The new Wolff spring SHOULD have cured the problem (worked for my SX2). But if you must shoot an upcoming match, the use of Federal primers might get you by until you uncover the underlying cause.
  10. Another vote for Solo 1000 - especially with coated bullets. The shotgun/trap clubs near you should have Solo 1000 on hand in 4 or 8 lb containers.
  11. You have likely made up your mind - but I have to disagree that S_I is "THE" way to go. National Titles in both Limited and L-10 have gone to Glock - suggesting its a better gun - or at least, just as capable. If you want a custom, SJC can build you a custom racing Glock for Limited. Moreover, Henning and Canyon Creek are selling top notch Tanfoglio Limited gun packagess that offer are every bit as much capability as S_I guns as far as capacity, accuracy, reliability, ability to load long, etc. My own choice is the excellent CZ Tactical Sports/Standard IPSC which comes from the factory with a 2 lb crisp trigger that, unlike S_I, does not need constant gunsmith maintnance to keep from following or doubling. Cost is under $1000, new. But, what ever gun you eventually get, welcome aboard & see you at the range. Regards, d.
  12. Mr. Heller, via his attorney Robert Levy, filed his brief today; amici to follow. Here is the PDF OF BRIEF or try: http://www.gurapossessky.com/news/parker/d...s/07-0290bs.pdf You might be particularly interested in section 4 (IV): "THE STANDARD OF REVIEW IN SECOND AMENDMENT CASES IS STRICT SCRUTINY"
  13. Too true. I once worked for a lawyer who primarily handled immigration cases. The rate of default was very high. And chasing down a deadbeat client is rarely cost effective.
  14. Either MagPul or Bushmaster wisely moved the charging handle forward and over the handgaurds - where optics will NOT be in the way.
  15. As far as CZ-75 clones, the Bren 10 was the best American made clone. Good news from the SHOT show is that the American company Vltor is making ANOTHER CZ-75 clone and it will be offered in 10mm like the Bren 10.
  16. 1911 barrel = ZERO CASE SUPPORT AKA UNSUPPORTED CHAMBER. The 1911 has always had an unsupported chamber. Only exceptions are the 1911s modified for use with ramped barrels - like USPSA's STI and SV guns (technically, "2011"). Since .45 ACP is limited to such low pressure, it creates no issues. HOWEVER, you mentioned you shoot a 625 revolver. It has FULL case support. Opinions vary, but most agree the 625 can handle ".45 Super" with no modifications. Do a search on 45 Super for data and precautions. With good brass and full case support like your 625 offers, the basic .45 case can handle higher pressures than the loading manuals would lead you to believe.
  17. I used to think that "monster trucks" were stupid. I could never see why anyone would use a monster truck to driver over the top of a car. Now I am beginning to see a use for monster trucks.
  18. Work coming loose & resulting crash IS the suck! Better luck on take 2.
  19. Derek45 makes a very good point. If you are still buying Factory Ammo then you are shooting gauranteed "once-fired" brass, so why not keep it. Doesent cost any extra to pick it all up and take it home and put it in a coffee can for "some day". Once fired .45 is in demand. It frequently sells for $50 to 460 per 1000. If you are leaving it on the ground, its like leaving nickles laying all over the ground. I am not so rich that I just walk by dozens of nickles without bothering to pick them up. Reloading is certainly recommended. But if I had to buy 45 I'd look at S&B as it is so good, its used as the factory test ammo for CZ. Top quality ammo.
  20. As you can see, the modern Kydex Production division holster for USPSA is about as fast as any "race" holster - such as the type typically used in Open or in IPSC production division. I rarely shoot Limited anymore. But If I return to it, I will use a Kydex DOH style holster insted of my race holsters.
  21. Edge of primer looks OK to me. There is some primer flow - make sure to keep that firing pin hole (ok striker hole) clean of primer shavings. You do not want to find out what could happen if it gets fouled. Montanas are excellent bullets. Their diameter tends to be on the small side. For that reason, I will ONLY use Montanas if the brass has been re-sized with an EGW "U" die and some Hornady case spray like Brian suggests in his video.
  22. Really? Well I heard a rumor from your lawyer that you have a real good chance of beating those charges. They ain't got nothin' on you! (joke - obviously. Noah is a lawyer in case you did not know). What's new Noah? See you at the match. D.
  23. LINK TO AR15 discussion or try http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&...8620&page=1 The OP there wanted to know why more folks don't compete in HP. The feedback is useful for anyone competing with an AR and could help out BOTH USPSA and NRA. Interesting stuff.
  24. Hi Chris- sorry I couldn't make the last black creek. If the other 3gun shoots you want to shoot are like black creek, you will be expected to re-holster the gun hot while on the clock. The gun I personally trust for doing that is the Glock - 'cause I don't want to accidently shoot my foot off. Maybe I am just paranoid. For USPSA I usually shoot a CZ or my SV single action.

    AK blow up

LINK or try: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=b9c_1201440552&p=1 Looks like it might have been excessive headspace leading to a case-head separation. Probably some very shot-out AKs floating around over there.
