I have a Staccato C2 that I run with an optic. I've put thousands of rounds through the gun without a glitch. I've made no modifications to it. I'm just one person, so take it for what it's worth. But it is one of my favorite guns.

Makes sense. I'm probably just overthinking the whole thing.

I guess there's probably no perfect option when the temperature gets about 90.

Any vest/concealment recommendations for people who live in hot places - like Florida?

Update on this thread. I ordered 10k bullets from Zero a month ago - fully expecting to wait at least six months for my order, given the earlier comments on this thread. But I got a call yesterday, saying the order is ready to ship.

Over the years, I've had at least three PM9s as I've gone in and out of single stack. Impossible to go wrong with the gun. Customer service - in my experience - was fantastic. This was several years back, but I was having issues with my reloads being a little too long for the chamber. So I called Dan Wesson to ask about sending the barrel back for an adjustment. I fully planned to pay for it. But they paid for the shipping both ways and did the work on the gun for free.

Got a call yesterday saying the order is shipping out Monday. I've been working under the general theory that bullets are going to be easier and easier to find until the primer shortage eases up. I mean, eventually, people are going to run out of primers. Who needs bullets when you don't have primers?

I didn't notice it doing anything. But, as you said, I haven't shot a non-ported model either.

Have you thought about a lightweight version of thermals? When I lived in the Midwest, I built a collection of tight-fitting thermal type shirts designed for varying levels of cold - from winter to fall/spring. The lightest were great for the situations you describe. Then you can just wear your regular short-sleeve shooting shirt on top of it.

A club I can join. Mine is in .22 magnum. Ported (not really sure why) with a big white dot front sight. It's a hoot to shoot. Not a quick reloader, of course. Totally fun. And absolutely tiny for those times you want to carry more than rocks in your pocket.

Ouch. Seven months? I still have almost a year's worth of Zero 147s. Really hoping things become slightly less crazy by then. But I probably should not be optimistic.

In general, I agree with the OP. But at the same time, it's nice to see the divisions evolve as new guns come into the market.

I've always preferred to go with an optic mounted directly to my slide - without a plate. Part of this, I'm sure, is related to having an optic fly off an aluminum plate while at a match. My fault - I had over-tightened it and stripped the screw hole. Either way, though, I prefer the optic to be as low as possible on the slide.

Like a lot of competition shooters, I've reloaded tens of thousands of rounds over the years. I've had one squib at a match. Fortunately the RO stopped me before I could fire again. I still worry about this stuff. Personally, If I even suspect that I have a squib, I'll ask the RO to stop me - or stop myself if the RO won't do it. Either way, a stage score isn't worth the risk of ruining my gun - or worse.

I'd bet there's a good chance it would hurt your resale value at a gun store. But, perhaps not if you sell it to another competition shooter through this forum - or wherever you find competition shooters. Someone looking for a CO gun is more likely to see the value in it - as opposed to the random customers who might walk into a gun store.

For fun, I've started shooting one of my carry guns (Staccato C2duo) in open minor. Not competitive in Open, but when looking at overall match results, I can roughly compare myself to CO. Still, I live in Florida, where the weather often dictates a smaller gun. For that, I rotate several options: Sig P938, Beretta Hellcat and, for those times when I want even more discreet, a Seecamp .32.

I've had a couple different EMP 9s over the years. I ended up selling them both, though I'm not 100 percent sure why. Great guns.

Same thing here. That little extra leverage with the basepads eliminated a problem I was having with seating mags on the fly.

Another version of the Dawson to consider: Magwell 1911 IPSC Classic Division It's low profile version that's a little shallower than the Ice model. No insert, but the depth difference can help when seating mags.

I've used the DPP, RMR and SRO on CO guns. They all work (though the DPPs were far less reliable). My top preference would be the SRO. The larger window is nice. I also much prefer the larger 5 MOA over the 2.5 MOA. But then, my eyes are getting older. That's become a more important factor for me these days. The bigger dot is just easier for me pick up at speed.

Hard to go wrong with the Dawson Ice magwells. Put them on every single stack gun I've used.

I'll toss in another vote for the Everglades MRH race holster. Tried a few others when I was shooting Limited. But I just love the way this one works. Very smooth draw.

So true. There are companies out there (I won't name them) that I still refuse to do business with over how they operated during the last shortage.
