  1. I brought it up to Bruce6 in 2022 at the Alabama Sectional. He said it’d never happen. He’s gone now, so maybe there’s a chance. At 70, the eyes don’t do irons well at all.
  2. A bit different perspective for you. I started USPSA in 2013, at 60. Against the 20 somethings, I’ll never take them. USPSA gave me an outlet for my control issues. In my work as a parish priest, my performance was totally on me. I’ve had a great time, and it has been helpful for me. Fast forward 10 years, and a 16 month sojourn in Chicago. I could only dry fire, which I did pretty regularly. Now back in the Deep South, I can shoot matches again. Let me tell you, the first one dropping the hammer on a live round in my open gun was exhilarating! I shot like sh*t, but it was so much fun! Steel Challenge has opened up another door for me. Again, my performance is entirely on me. I’m 70 now and don’t intend to stop any time soon. It’s about what I do as well as hanging with a bunch of friends. Just my 2 cents.
  3. I’m a big fan of N320. It doesn’t require much, and it’s very cool and clean running. I’m not a fan of burning myself on the cylinder on reloads.
  4. I liked using Tapatalk, but it is very flaky, with features the sometimes work an other time do not. For example, the notification and new content features have not worked several weeks now. I’ve gotten used to using Benos thru a web browser, and it just works. So there is really the issue of Tapatalk actually working properly. The forum works, albeit not as “cool” as Tapatalk. If both worked, I’d prefer Tapatalk, but with its constantly changing UI, I’ll stick with the forum in a browser.
  5. So, I’m here now. Living in Old Town. Any suggestions for IL CCL training?
  6. Thanks y’all. I appreciate the information. I am going, so it’ll be fun.
  7. Thanks. That’s helpful. I won’t be an Illinois resident; I’ll still be an Alabamian. As I understand, I can’t get an FOID as a non-resident, but I can get an IL CCL. If that’s a “golden ticket”, that seems like the way to go. Appreciate your time. I’ll check out Eagle when I get there. I use USPSA as therapy, so going a year or so doesn’t seem like a good thing to me! Way cheaper than a therapist, too.
  8. Thanks for the responses. I’ll look into the clubs in the area. My concern is the silly mag capacity laws in the city. That’s where I’ll be living. Clearly, the suburban clubs don’t have those problems. Does anyone have any guidance regarding mags (or even an “evil” PCC) if one resides in the city? Any of the clubs have storage options for the unfortunate city dwellers?
  9. I may be temporarily relocating to Chicago, as in the city. I’m aware of the draconian laws that are in place. I’m looking for information concerning living there and still wanting to compete a bit. My PCC will have to stay at home. How does one deal with the mag capacity limits short of finding new mags? In NY state, a disassembled mag isn’t a mag that’s in violation of their laws. Same work in Chicago? Conversing via PM might be the best. Thanks in advance. Tom
  10. Brian, thanks for your work. We really appreciate it!
  11. Don’t know. It’s up, but a little shaky. That’s a technical term…
  12. So, opened it up and it was pretty gunked up. With it being cold, I can see how things wouldn’t move correctly. I cleaned it up (not a full tear down), and it’s working correctly again. I’ll do a deep clean and lube next week. I was able to reproduce the symptom by slowly releasing the trigger after the first “click” and pulling the trigger back. Perhaps if I had been more patient when it was cold, it might not have been quite so disastrous.
  13. I had issues with my TRR8 today at our USPSA Match. Sometimes when I pulled the trigger, the cylinder would advance, but the hammer would not pull back. Obviously, no ignition. I’m a noob when it comes to revolver mechanics, so I don’t know what to look for. It was 35 to 40 degrees today, if that’s any help. It kind of feels like the trigger was not completely released, but I’m not sure. I was wearing thin gloves, but it happened with no gloves as well. I’ve had no other problems with this revolver. Any ideas? Thanks.
  14. I’ve been through this with Troy. For CO, the dot has to be mounted to the slide. Revolvers don’t have one, so Open is correct. Sadly.
  15. VV N320. And it keeps the cylinder cool, too!
  16. So, that’s what I’m doing because the CO rules require the optic mounted to the slide. When your eyes don’t work with irons anymore, you might see it differently. Besides, if I beat anyone in Open, they’ve had a really bad day.
  17. I load on an S1050. For revolver, you really need to have the primers seated below flush. The 1050 has priming on the down stroke with depth as a settable (is that a word) depth that takes *all* of the guesswork out of it. I struggled on a 650 to get a decent depth with any repeatability. The RL1050 does, too. Check for used machines. You’ll be glad you did. ETA: I loved my 650, but I love my S1050 more!
  18. Apparently, there is no love for revolver, either!
  19. I’ve been following this thread with some amusement, b/c it’s never been an issue for me. I got my S1050 to load ammo. I tend to load significant quantities at a time. I just load until I run out of primers. If I’m doing load development, I just leave them until I come back for round two or round three of that process. I guess I don’t understand the reasons to need to empty the tube. Help me, please! I’m not trying to be obtuse or Polly Anna. It’s a real question.
  20. The Sig P320 X-five comes with a magwell. It fits the box. It makes weight. So to shoot in Production, you must modify a production product to be legal. Makes absolutely no sense. Put an optic on it, same situation. Still makes no sense.
