Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I have a Para 14-45 Limited that I purchased in 2000 that has run great. The only problems I've ever encountered were shooter induced and no fault of the pistol.
  2. In my opinion the Beretta is one of the most un-ergonomic handguns out there. I've carried one in the military for the last 13 years and have never grown to like it.
  3. FWIW, The best my 20" 1/7 will shoot 55's is around 1.75" at 100. That same 20" 1/7 will same hole Sierra 69's at 100, but won't shoot 75's better than an 1". My 16" 1/9 chrome lined hates 55's, but will same hole Hornady 75 BTHPs at 100. Just goes to show that you have to experiment to find the right load
  4. Rich, I've spent pretty good deal of time on Bragg TDY, never stationed there. I have several friends that PCS'd from there within the last year to two. I'll check with them and see what input they can offer. There's quite a bit around the area.
  5. Rich, No, I'm an Infantry guy that works for the Battle Command Training Program on Leavenworth. I drive by the USDB on the way to the range every week. The old DB is being dismantled....they built a new one a while back. Stephen
  6. you know your a shooter when: - your office calendar depicts every single local club match schedule within a 2 hour drive - you keep an up date to "wish list" of gun stuff saved on the desktop of your computer so your wife will know what to buy - you have to justify by priority any non-firearm related purchases - your idea of quality time with your kids is sorting the weeks range brass and loading it up for the next range session - you have multiple pictures of your 5-yr old helping you load on your 550 - the house you buy/rent is completely determined by whether or not it has a room (min req of 15' x 15'...more is better) that you can dedicate to your guns/loading equipment - you spend your lunch break at the local range at least 3 or more times per week - your email username consists of some combination of gun model/caliber/or IPSC motto - your wife is seriously concerned that your shooting habits may affect your childs ability to go to college - you have converted at least 5 of your closest non-shooting neighbors into dedicated firearms enthusiasts and regular IPSC match attendees - the MP working the weapons registration booth at your military base has to check with the Provost Marshall as to whether there is a limit to the number of weapons you can register - you fire more bullets in a month than an entire Infantry Platoon - your posting more comments to the 7 pages that are already on this thread
  7. I've been shooting a Para 14-45 Limited for several years and have been able to get 18 rnds in the tube with no problem using: Para Tubes, factory springs, Para Follower or Arredondo Follower, and Dawson Pads. The only tubes that I can not get 18 rnds in are the nickel ones. I have several nickel tubes and the most I can get in them with any combo of spring/follower/pad is 17. Every factory blue tube that I have bought or used will hold 18 with the Dawson Pads.
  8. How clean is the WC844 compared to some of the other popular powders? Can you even notice a difference? I was going to get some AA2230C, but Grafs just bumped the price up to 111.19 per 8lbs. Natchez still lists it at $69.95, but they are out of stock. Looking to stay within my powder/bullet/primer budget for 3-gun.
  9. +1 for the Armalite one piece QD. I've switched back and forth between it and irons at least a dozen times and its never lost zero.
  10. Stinger, Keep your powder dry and the radar "queing"! I spent 14 months over there as an Infantry Co Cdr...spent a lot of time 50k south of you in Bahgdad. Time will go by faster than you think with everything that goes on day-to-day. Heck, I bet if you got your Cdr to bless off on it you could set up a COF and use it as CQB training. Take care and shoot straight.
  11. I contacted Remington by email a few months ago reference purchasing a CM barrel since it was the only thing they sell that's 22" long w/ a vent rib. I referenced the part number that I found on the Remington website in the email The reply I got back said that they were no longer producing the 1100 CM and that the parts were not available for purchase. They used them for repair only. I'll have to find the original email and post the exact reply.
  12. I run a rib barrel with a EZhit fiber optic bead/rod on my 1100. Works great for fast acquisition on steel strings or any clays that may find their way into the COF. Works pretty well for slugs out to 30yds, but I had to do some trial and error on POI. A standard 1 oz rifled slug hits about 12" below my POA at 30 yards since I don't run any type of rear sight on the rib. I hold the dot just below the Upper A zone and life is good. I have thought about adding a Williams peep sight to help with the longer slug shots, but what I have seems to work so...if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
  13. I used to use the Tacstar that gave me 7 in the mag. They are made well, fits my 1100 like a glove, and worked like a champ but it only gave me 7 rnds. I wanted an extension that gave me 8 in the mag so I went with the DMW. I like it even better than the Tacstar in regards to fit, finish, and reliability (spring seems to be better than the one I got with Tacstar).
  14. I tried several times this morning...its still down.
