RL 1100 new press setup issues.
DRider8 replied to Cuz's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
Dillon has vidios on their site that show you how to correct most of the problems that you have mentioned. -
I only use wood surfaces when using my hammer bullet puller, never have I had an issue, same one for the last 10 years.
-
I only use N-320, I have other powers but I use it in 9mm, 40cal and 45. I use 147 grain in 9mm, 135,180 in 40 and 185 and 240 in 45cal. The power burns clean and bullets are accurate in all weights that I use. N320 and Clays are very similar. Cost if purchased online through Powder Valley or some others is around $110 for 4lbs, loads are normally lower in grains than other powers making the usage of this power approximately the same as others due to the smaller amounts used. There is a lot of information about different bullets and weights used for each on these and other sites. I use zero bullets. They can be purchased directly from manufacturer or I believe through Power Valley also. The manufacturer doesn't charge shipping.

I know this is a little late to the conversation, but I have never run out of Zero bullets. I always order in bulk, when I start getting low I reorder, If I don't see something available, I call in to see when it will be available, normally I am asked what I am looking for and it always seems to be available or I'm told when to expect availability and a order is normally taken. I have only ordered from one other company , when Precision Delta was starting to get popular, I tried their 147's, they were good, but they didn't have HP at that time, so I went with Zeros and I have not looked back. I load 9mm, 40 cal. and 45's from them, great bullets.

You can buy the large small plate separately( plate only), it is not that expensive, about $40.
-
I'm not sure you are speaking of the shell plate or the casefeed plate, they will both be to large for the 9mm. to work properly in. The 40 sw shell plate and case feed plate is larger which would allow a lot of movement on the shell plate, the same is true for the casefeed plate.

Thanks.

It has come available in the US a few times over the past year since the company was purchased. It sells out extremely fast though so it is unlikely you'll find it on the shelves of an LGS even if they were allotted some. Where are you located? I'm located in Indiana at this time
-
Is there any area of the country other than overseas that has VV N320 power available. Is there any area of the US where it can still be found on a regular or half way regular basis.

You can find this residue on new bullets sold by leading manufacturers also. Normally it's not an issue in 45's.

Major problem with Lyman Reloading Handbook: bad data
DRider8 replied to Dougga's topic in General Reloading
The Lyman 49th edition is a good reloading manual. The starting points and ending points are within safe areas, all powder have safe starting and ending ranges, that is why chrono's are used to find out what is exceptable to you. There are very few that have the same exact data, that is why more than one manual is suggested to be used. You can start at a low powder level and work your way up to find something thing exceptable to you within those ranges. -
I am using mostly small primers in 45acp now and I see no problem at all using them, same load data is used. I have now starting to prefer them as no change over is necessary when changing calibers. I still have thousands of large cases, but I don't have to reorder anything but small primers now.

650 large primer system
DRider8 replied to Grumpy's Toy's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
The primer punch may be protruding into the primer disc while in the down position, keeping the disc from rotating. -
If you are defending yourself in any manner when your life is threaten, you can use rocks as bullets and it would be justified. If you use a bazooka and it was your only means of protecting yourself I'm sure that would be justified. You have to use a little common sense. I don't think I've ever heard of or seen a case in which reloads have come up in relations to a justified shooting, have you?

Attached is a link to an article that debunks that theory regarding lead getting so hot it melts,it is a very interesting article . Follow this link, http://www.lasc.us/TaylorLeadingDefined.htm

The load I'm using now is 4.6gr, COAL 2.60 , 4.70 crimp with 230gr Zero bullets. I don't see any smoke. This should be around 700fps.
-
I also use VVN320 with 230gr Zero bullets with no signs of smoke. I also use it in 9mm and 40 cal with no smoke with either. I have never seen anything like I'm seeing from your video. The Sierra reloading manual has loads up to 850fps using 5.5gr of N320, I've had no problem with any of them. You might double check your taper crimp.
