I reload CBC and some other low grade brass with 115 grain bullets only. That way they will pass the case gauge and are usable. Otherwise they show a nice bulge in the case that causes all sorts of bad troubles right in the middle of a stage.

Does this happen with all of your mags, or just one in particular. If it is one or two I would suspect the mag spring is weak. I have shot XDms for years. I did have a nasty problem with a case head separation issue, which turned out to be a combination of PMC brass, 180 grain leas cast, and Unique powder. It would blow the head off the brass 50% of the time, powder load was well below max. Never got the answer as to why. Use a.40 for 3 gun and have an OSP for back up to my CZ.

I went from an STI Eagle in .45 (Limited 10) to a CZ SP-01 for Carry Optics. I can assure you there is a noticeable difference between loading mags with the magwell STI as compared to the CZ. Now the Gen5 is supposed to have a larger flared magwell, but I do not like Glocks (I know, heresy). I will be shooting the next match with the Eagle for fun, and we will see if it is that much different. I have had 2 years to adjust to the CZ.

On the CZ mags.the 2nd bullet does sit slightly lower at the nose. Is that the issue you r talking about? How would you correct that problem? Can the tubes be reset?

I case gauge every single round. The ones that failed do meet the case gauge specs. The rounds I recovered had the polymer cut rights where the bullet was entering the bottom of the ramp/barrel. Its like it got slammed into the breech before the round came up high enough. I do have a new recoil spring on the way. Would a broken slide stop keeping working well after the jamming?

Having an odd issue with a CO SP-01 getting locked up during matches. I have been shooting it for 2 years now and have not had any issues until the last three matches. The problems usually happens after a reload, I fire off one or two rounds after the reload, and then the gun jams tighter than Dicks hatband. The gun jams up with the slide held open, and the round jammed into the barrel right where the bullet is seated in the top of the brass. I have to hammer the grip to get the jam out, and I mean hitting it like I was clearing a 1911. The CZ does not have a lot of grip surface on the slide........... I had thought it was the bullet, but that theory has been ruled out. It has happened with a Gallant 135 gr, a Blue Bullet 115, and a BB 147 gr. I double checked OAL, and it is correct, as is the plunk test. After the jam is cleared, the gun runs fine. Any thoughts? Checked to see if a piece of brass was stuck, nothing in the barrel to cause it I can see.

I bought the complete SP-01 package from Stuart at CZC. I got the gun a full month earlier then promised and it was far better then even CZC claimed it would be. I have had a few questions about parts and mags, and they always return call fast. I have not had any work done by Cajun or Primary, so this post is not to denigrate either company, I just want to give a huge thumbs up to CZC. I like the plate system, and have already changed plates to go to a DDP. Next up, a CZC Shadow 2 in CO.........

My SS pistol is a Kimber Custom Competition II, and I had to get the barrel converted to a bushing style since bull barrels are not legal in SS. Tuned the extractor to stop awful stovepipe issues, but the gun runs flawless now. Your Kimber will do fine for you. I carry six mags plus the Barney mag in my back pocket. There is always that chance you grab a reload mag and it goes flying onto the COF filling up with sand and dirt........ I prefer the SS/L10 divisions, but as I get older, the targets seem further and further away. Shooting CO now, but mix it up with SS, and even go down to the SS Desert Classic in Mesa. Of course, Mother Luck got us this year, left MT in Feb to get away from the snow and cold and enjoy the sun in Mesa, and it snowed and was cold in Mesa. Took no winter clothing or gloves. Darn it gets cold in the desert.

You are right, it is not a requirement to ship it in the same bag as the firearms, just a suggestion. That was relayed to me by a TSA agent as a way of simplifying the search of your luggage if they decide to check out your firearms. Some airports want to search the bags, others don't. I have had my bags put on a plane without so much as a shrug, and flying back faced about a 45 minute delay waiting on a TSA agent to inspect my bags, swab them, find powder residue. (no kidding, I just shot 400 rounds at a match), then he had to call for a supervisor to come search them again. Another oddity is they take the bags off the plane when you land to the corresponding airline baggage office and hold them until you go pick them up with ID, a good idea in my opinion. What is off is they place these giant tie wraps around your bag to stop you from getting to your firearms. Makes it kind of Captain Obvious that you are carrying guns.

When I flew to the SS Desert Match in AZ, I shipped the ammo via UPS. They do allow drop off at the UPS counter. It must have the ORM-D label on it. FedEx will ship ammo, but you must schedule a pick up. Have no clue why, but I was turned away at the counter. The ammo must be boxed, either in original cartons or plastic boxes. I do not recommend the plastic boxes, UPS broke every damn one of mine and my friends. They toss this stuff around like a soccer ball. You can take loaded ammo on some airlines in checked baggage, it depends on the carrier. I would find out far in advance if they will take it. Some have an 11 pound limit. It should be shipped in the same bag as your clearly declared and marked firearm. It does not need to be in a locked box, but does need packaging. No loose rounds are allowed. And no ammo in the gun. Mags can be shipped in the same bag and do not need to be locked. UPS ships the ammo at the standard weight, you do not have to send it 2nd day delivery. If you shoot .45, you will realize the weight factor...............$$$$$$.

I used to shoot L10 and SS until the eyes failed me and I moved to CO. The Blue Bullets you are getting in 230 work great, always fed well for me and you get a 5% discount when you mention BENOS in the discount tab. Add free shipping and its a deal. I also recommend MT Gold bullets, but they are pricey.or match due to heat, I went with After running out of Clays and almost going minor with WST at a major match I switched to Nitro100 from Accurate. Load to 3.4 grs and you will have the softest .45 load I have ever shot.

Although I do not shoot major, (carry Optics) I have started to find JAG headstamps in the range brass I have gotten. I found it bulged incredibly bad loading 147 bullets, both MG and Blues. I finally tossed them into a box with the Aquila and CBC brass and load them with 115 pills and use them for practice only. The brass is just not right for reloading purposes.

I am a lefty and shoot a Kimber in .45 when I shoot SS and L10. I tried reversing the safety, but found I was faster leaving the safety set up as a right handed pistol and using my middle finger on my left hand to eject the mags. I know it sounds weird but try a left hand safety and see if he can hit the release with the shooting right hand index or middle finger.

Sooooooo, when the Obama power and primer shortage befell us, I went and bought a couple thousand CCI small rifle primers and put them away. After going through a bunch of WSR primers I grabbed a box of the CCI. Well, sure.enough they are magnum small rifle. Are these OK to use on moderate M4 3 gun loads? I do not want to smack the bolt around. Using Varget.and 55 gr. SP.

I think your firing pin spring is light if you put in the lower weight recoil spring. Same thing happened to me and I had to take out the firing pin spring sent with the replacement spring, and put the original back in.

Yes, the short extension, sorry for the confusion,,,looking at the order I also used the CZ spring and follower.

The CZC basepads with the CZ tubes just passed the measurement fit gauge at the Inland Empire match. I am not sure what you mean by traditional?

17 rnd Mecgar, TTI +4/5 18 rnd CZ, CZC +4/5 Have used original internals with no issues. 21 in the Mecgar, 22 in the CZ tubes. Much prefer the TTI basepads though.

I installed the PRP in my OSP and it works great. My main optics gun is a CZ SP-01, and the XDm is my backup. As good as the PRP is, it wlil never be as good as the CZ. Plus the extra weight of the CZ keeps the dot in check. Having said that I have full confidence in the XDm, I did buy a Glock 34 originally, modified it with an Apex trigger, but sold it since the XDm was so much better.

Nitro100, softest recoil I have found. Clays is good until you need to reach a 170 power factor, then it gets dicey. WST is temperture sensitive, the hotter the air temp, the slower the bullet goes, but for IDPA I do not think PF is that high, so WST is a good choice.

Until last year I shot either SS or Limited 10 (I admit it), but since ye ol eyeballs are getting fuzzier by the hour, I moved to Carry Optics. I shot nothing but the .45 in both divisions, and really miss the L10 class. This year I went to Mesa in Feb and shot their SS Desert Classic match, which turned out to be a blast. What really sucked was flying from a frozen MT to enjoy a sunny warm three days in Mesa, where it SNOWED.......... In the frozen north we are seeing a mini comeback of the SS division, so out comes the Kimber to blaze away.

Went from the Vortex Venom to the 7.5 triangle dot on the DDP. After getting used to the triangle, I pick it up faster, can see it in harsh bright sunlight much easier. and use the tip of the triangle for those pesky long range targets. Too bad it will not fit on your mount. The Venom went through an entire season for me with no issues, I just want the larger acquisition dot/triangle after losing the dot in the light and a very light background.

Those two types of bullets are dramatically different, the first group being jacketed, and the second being lead. You can shoot lead bullets at a much slower velocity and not have any risk. They form to the barrel when fired much better then jacketed do. You do need to drive jacketed bullets faster. From my experience, there are reasons powder companies dont want rounds going slower then they list, whether it be stuck bullets or spikes in pressure. If you want to go lower then listed, just ask them, they are very helpful. You could always use Trail Boss to really get light loads.

I can feel the difference in powders when the weight and velocities are the same. That is the reason I use one for match ammo (Nitro 100) and use WST and Clays for practice and steel loads. On the Vit powders I have only used 320, but that was in the .40. It is not a good .45 powder. Even powders with close burning rates act differently. 700X, Bullseye, and Titgroup are right next to each other on the chart, but have a different feel. 700 seems slower on slide speed, and Titegroup feels snappier. The chemical compound and the amount of gasses released more then likely cause this, but that is a subjective "feel" from me only. As far as going lower on minimums, with the .44 I'd be really careful. Getting a stuck bullet in the barrel and firing the next round, that would end the range session. I use some .45 loads below minimum, but did call the powder manufacturer and ask the technical person if I was operating within guidelines. One never knows when subtle but dangerous pressure spikes occur and cause damage.
