  6. YES! its an extra movment that will cost more time... small amount in some places (.01's) and large in others. (.10's) with the chance of a missed load... (1.00's) CT
  7. 1998 i was 12 years old... love it!! wouldn't change a thing...
  8. Hands down the sight tracker is the best preforming limited gun I've ever shot! You can get one made at any weight as well so if you want a light pistol you can get one that is titanium or aluminum. 30oz to 52 oz pistol... how ever you want it and the accuracy of these barrels are awesome! I run one that is 52oz 4oz more than the one that I had at the nats and I love it! DvC, Chris Tilley
  9. Pistol: SVI IMM 4 port 10 degrees back w/ C-More scope. Shot with 121ifp Montana Gold bullets and a CR-Speed holster. Shotgun: Benelli M2 with lots of mods and J-Point scope. Shot with 7.5 Estate and Remington managed recoil slugs. Rifle: MSTN Competition 17-in topend - deluxe with JP receiver and internals with Vltor club foot A2 stock w/ Trijicon tr-21 scope on a LaRue T104-30 QD Mount and J-Point on Burkett mount. Shot with 77gr. Black hills and 55gr Montana Gold bullets. DvC, Chris Tilley
  10. The hit factor of the stage is very important. The hit factor determines how important points and speed are. The lower the hit factor the more important points are and the higher the hit factor the more important time is. Example: 150pts w/ all A’s shot in 15sec is a 10 hit factor so effectively 1 pt down is worth .10 sec and +1 sec. in the stage is worth 10 match pts. (Time is more important)
  11. The key to the holster is to have the gun in it securely with out having the gun move side to side/ back and forth or up and down when the holster is locked. So when the holster is unlocked the pistol can only move up and out of the holster. However you accomplish this is up to you. I like to have the white screw down all the way to start and move the platform up or down to adjust the pistol height in the holster. I do this by putting the pistol in the holster with it locked and the platform way low and move the platform up as high as you can get it with out the retention piece being pushed out past the holster. It should be flush to the holster. Then move the white screw out to stop the side-to-side motion… this may change the up/ down platform adjustment a little. DvC, Chris Tilley
  12. Generally no you can’t but it sounds that you just improved your confidence in your total shooting ability. Confidence is a big part of practice. Most people know what to do but aren’t confident enough to do properly. A big part of practice is knowing what you can and can’t do at your level (confidence). DvC, Chris Tilley
  13. ROFL… you think I have benefited from winning any thing as a JR.!!!!!! I WISH I WAS NEVER A DAMN JR. SHOOTER! I know that most of the women shooters want every one to look at them as equal and to see what they did overall instead of in a special category… DvC, CHRIS PS: If you think any of what is on this thred is serous you have issues…
  14. I can remember stages over 2 years ago that I’ve shot because I put so much into visualizing the stage. The biggest thing I can tell you that will help you is read “With Winning In Mind” by Lanny Bassham. Do the exercises and enjoy. DvC, Chris Tilley
  15. I go to 10 major matches in one year with at least one of witch is the Nationals. I will spend over $15,000.00 to just get to the match. Not to mention the training for the match. In one year I will shoot any where from 50,000 to 90,000 rds. That’s just under $9,000.00 for ammo… So on a light year of shooing without any guns, magazines or accessories of any kind I’m at $24,000.00… I’m not the poorest person in the world and that’s a lot of money to me!! DvC, Chris Tilley
  16. If I were a woman, I would fill up a lot more pistol classes… I feel you Eric^^ DvC, Chris Tilley
  17. Millennium custom has the rights to the Aftec and you can get them strait from him. DvC, Chris Tilley
  18. Jake, I use an (C-More) 8 moa in IPSC and a 10 moa in steel matches but not because the dot is bigger but brighter. DvC, Chris Tilley
  19. Flowing is a by-product of minimizing movement and thought processes in a stage. In fact that is what good technique is all about minimizing movement! DvC, Chris Tilley
  20. As long as the follower has good pressure it's good to go but if it is still working and it has very little pressure all it might take is a dirty pistol or different climate for the magazine to fail... so just use good judgment. DvC, Chris Tilley
  21. Should be good to go then... if you do decide to change springs maybe use the old springs in practice? When I change the springs I change them in my practice magazines and match magazines with the same lot springs. By doing this I will know if I need to change springs and not find out in a match. DvC, Chris Tilley
  22. I the past 3 days I’ve shot roughly 2,600rds. with a Sight Tracker and a reg. top end pistol. I’m so amazed with how different the two pistols are. The sight tracker appears to be slower flipping than reg. top end pistol witch I think is an illusion because the times are the same at the end of the run but I have better points with the Sight Tracker. It also seems that I can push a little harder because the Sight Tracker is more forgiving. PS: I don’t get paid to say any thing about any thing… I say what I truly think and try to help fellow shooters make better decisions. DvC, Chris Tilley
  23. First Grams spring /follower kits are the best! Did you cut off any coils? I get at least a year out of a mag spring with 3 coils cut and shooing about 10,000-15,000rds. (38 super comp140mm mag.). I have yet to replace a Grams spring /follower kit, do to them dying on me but, I do change them every year keeping the old springs just in case the new decide not to work… It should be easy to change followers… all though some times you need to bend the follower spring up /down to get the gun to lock back properly (if you want the gun to lock back?). DvC, Chris Tilley
  24. The worst perceived notion in are sport is that you need a fast shot split, draw or mag. change to win... I saw this thread before I shot to day and with Open @ 10yds. Draw 2 reload 2 on same full size paper aiming for A’s I was: Fastest .93 load /.96 draw Average 1.23 load /1.11 draw I did an average out of 5 runs then I took 3 runs to get my fastest. The 1st run to obtain the fastest draw and load was the fastest. The next 2 runs were slower than any of my first 5 runs to average. It’s just not worth pushing at 100% and failing 50+% of the time when you can shoot at 85% and have 90+% success. The point is, learn to do a proper magazine change and push and push and push to do it faster and faster and faster… but at the same time know how much you can push and get the magazine in the gun every time! Consistency while performing as close to the edge is what when’s matches. DvC, Chris Tilley
  25. Hey guys, I have used a thumb rest a lot, but I never seem to stick with it. I think there are no differences in performance. In fact the only difference is the gun feels different! Some times we make the gun feel different and we like it, but this means nothing. If you really want to know that you just made a differences. You will need a lot of time. You will need to compare your self on different recorded drills. You might also want to shoot a local match to see how it reacts under that stress. At the end of the day if the timer tells you that you are faster than you just made a difference. I am ANTI thumb rest! The only way Eric (THE MAN) Grauffel gets away with it. Is that his grip is completely different. Remember his weak hand pointer finger is around the trigger guard, which allows him to put more pressure down towards the middle of the gun. This makes the gun more neutral with the grip and the thumb rest. It creates a lot more down force also! I will be playing around with this in the future. Until next time guys take care. DvC, Chris T.
