  1. I had a piece of scrap wood, 1x2 I think, that I drilled a shallow hole 1/2 way through near one end. The hole was just larger that whatever caliber brass I was using. Then I zip-tied a sharpie to the wood block. I could put in a loaded round in the hole, give it a quick turn and get a nice stripe around the case. It worked fine for a non-tech, cheapskate solution.
  2. Looks interesting enough to try it. Not sure about the chevron instead of a plain ol’ dot.
  3. I guess I'm old school, but my C-More slide rides have always been great. I had one start to drift on me and I called C-More and they told me to send it to them. Got it back in a couple of weeks working good as new. Truth be told, it had no telling how many 1000's of rounds on it and had been dropped more than once (DOH!)
  4. My old model Trojan had etched numbers on the grip safety, barrel, slide, etc as it looked like they either hand-fitted the parts or at least wanted to make sure those parts were kept together with that specific pistol. I sadly let it go several years ago, and still wish I had it back.
  5. I have a pistol done by Mahovsky, and it looks great. I bought it that way, so no idea on the cost or turnaround, but the end result is very nice.
  6. I’ve had a lot of fun with the Sub2000. Not sure I would compete with it, but they are a nice backpack gun and lots of fun to shoot.
  7. Ditto -- have used poly click and non-click models with great results on open guns and .22's. C-more rebuilt one of them when it started to drift a bit. Their customer service is very good. I don't have any experience with the newer models like the RTS2 however.
  8. I have a Dillon sleeve that I believe came with a range bag I purchased from them years ago. Works well. https://www.dillonprecision.com/dillon-range-bag-extra-pistol-pouch_8_20_23841.html
  9. I can't imagine the Para part is any different than a standard 1911 part. 2nds on the EGW recommendation -- they make top-notch parts!
  10. I've never liked the sight picture provided by Novak rear sights. In fact, I really don't understand why they are like they are. A plain, serrated rear like the Heinie or even a classic Bo-Mar seems way better to me -- less busy and really helps me focus on the front sight. The Novaks have several curved and angled surfaces where I see glare and it is very distracting. Am I alone in this? They seem so popular, and I end up replacing them with Heinies almost every time.
  11. Agreed. The Ronin looks just about perfect, but needs some kind of front strap treatment.
  12. Glad to hear this good report, and congrats on your “new” pocket gun!
  13. I tried the 90 mount and didn’t like it as much as my offset vertical mount. I kept seeing the body of the Cmore during transitions. So I went right back to what feels comfortable.
  14. I guess I’m old school, but I still like the slide ride. Kinda feel like “if it ain’t broke...”
  15. Good advice. I move way too slow. Accuracy and splits are decent, I just draw too slow and move too slow. But I usually only run when I hear the ice cream truck.
  16. Heinie rear sight is yours!  Please send PayPal funds to byronsimpson@gmail.com

  17. Chip McCormick Power mags have worked best for me. I have had spotty luck with Wilsons. Power mags have worked so well that I never tried Tripp's.
  18. If I decide to get back to shooting Limited, I am going with the EAA Limited. I just think they are a great value. I am willing to try it out and risk the lack of support.
  19. Pinnacle used to make them for about $25, but they are discontinued. http://www.pinnacle-guns.com/announcements.asp
  20. Totally true! White undercoat makes the orange topcoat much brighter. I then use clear fingernail polish as a "sealer". Works great!
