    Drills

Depending on how many .windows you have in your house or if you don't care what your neighbors think. Wear your normal setup while watching TV and relaxing, setup some form of rules for the show you are watching, and do dry fire drills. An example would be every commercial is a mag change, every sceen change is a draw and trigger squeeze etc etc and you have to push yourself, go fast but make sure you are doing it correctly and learn from mistakes. I hung a target on the wall to the side of the TV so I have something to index on, you will be surprised how much you notice when it "surprises" you rather than telling yourself that ok I am going to do 10 trigger pulls, or just mag change drills.
  2. Steel doesn't forgive, Paper does. If you consider that a piece of steel is an A zone possibly part of the C zone of a standard USPSA target think about how many shooters can hit an A every single shot at their normal speed. Plus steel is either a hit or miss. So pulling it all together, hit or miss, need to slow down, etc etc. It gets into peoples heads and steel has the reputation of being "hard". Ask the same shooters what they think of just taking a head shot on a piece of paper I bet their answer will be different than the steel answer even tho they are approx the same size. Don't let it get into your head, practice practice practice and you will learn steel isn't bad but its a target in its own class and requires its own set or methods when shooting it.

    Two Eyes Open

To help myself get through this I always took a target paster and put it over my week eye. What I did is when dry firing index the gun then focus on the front sight with both eyes open, take the paster and put it over my week eye where the focal point was on my glasses. This still gave me most of my vision except the point where I focus aka the front sight. Also since I find myself helping RO a lot of matches I always carry 2-3 pairs of glasses so that 1 will have the tape over it and the others will be clear or shaded so I can avoid the headache and just swap them out before and after shooting. Hope this helps.
