  1. Nationals will always favor major in SS, just the way it is. Most local matches will favor 10 round guns. If you plan on shooting a lot of level 2, 3 and National matches stick HARD on Major ( SS special matches) If you're mostly going to shoot local stuff and a level 2 once or twice a year , stick with minor. At least that's whay I've seen for the last 10 years or so.
  2. File them to size, then sand paper to leave a nice finish. Done
  3. No it's not OK. It isn't fit to the gun. Looks like it was just thrown in. I'm sure it was fit to the sear. But once it's fit to the gun it won't fit the sear
  4. 9mm gen 1 sti mags need a spacer to feed properly. Gen 2 mags don't. Feed lips dimensions are different for 9 and 40.
  5. Maybe this photo will fit. I used a Gov't length recoil system, Commander length seemed real chucky when it ran. Now it's smooth USed a top hat type guide rod bushing and shortened the dust cover of the slide to fit it. You can see it sticking out under the island. Originally had a 1 1/2" island but it seemed front heavy. So I shortened it to 1.200 and recut the DT etc. It was a good project and it shoots and functions great. Very easy to control for follow up shots. Biggest problem around here was by the time I got it done most of the limited shooters had moved to C/O division.
  6. I built one a few years ago. Used a Gov't slide cut it down to 4 1/2 cause that where my TruBor bbl blank squared up. Build it like an open gun, obviously with a solid bbl weight /island of steel out front instead of a comp. Mine had to run a 9lbs spring to get it running. After a few thousand rounds it loosened up a bit and I can run a 10lbs spring now. Still run the 9lbs cause that where I get the least muzzle dip. My pixs are to large to post?!?!?!/ PM me and I'll email them to you if you want.
  7. Agree and have checked and verified this many many times!!!
  8. I run .358 160 Bayous or BBI RN in my 929 REVO They shoot just as well, very accurate, out of all my 1911's, Sig 226's and even the 320's shoot them OK. (320's like 124/5 at.358 a whole lot more though) Old school thought was run lead/coated .0002 over bore size. I find testing 100 packs of .357 and 358. a lot easier than slugging my bbl and measuring it. Proof is in the puddin, Puddin! If they shoot accurately and make PF they're good to go.
  9. Not a mbx fan for Several Reasons but lot of guys I know use grams guys, followers and springs FWIW
  10. As title says, going to Canton OH for a week or so in mid August. Any matches around there, Gun clubs etc. Looking to possibly move to the area (long story) Thanks jcc7x7
  11. I ve had a 10mm comp gun for 25 plus years. Noticable difference in recoil and muzzle rise than my non comp 10's with bullets from 165to 200. Lighter faster bullets are flatter but still works significantly with 200gr bullets compared to a non comped gun. FWIW
  12. Just built a JEM frame and slide with their Gunsmith fit It was a breeze to complete and came very nice and smooth with great accuracy! In the past I've had good fortune with Chelly frames and slides or a Caspian slide if cheely's weren't available. JEM and Cheely frames mostly because I've found the rails are cut parallel to the frame and dust cover of the frame.
  13. Do the offending rounds "Plunk" in your barrel? Since the barrel is the ultimate case gauge!
  14. Funny as this sounds, I've found two STI short chambered T2 comp bbl on Flea Bay. Pad 75.00 for one and 125.00 for the second. Worth looking anyhow! Both required to be properly fit to the gun

    X5 trigger work

And hours polishing all the internals. Everything has it's short comings. The good thing is everything can be made nicer than what you get from mass production!
  16. I agree BUT Springs are cheap so buy new springs for the most used set and use the other set for practice and watch for the above signs then change those. Changing the main set is more insurance so you don't get "told" by the mags during a match! Yes I speak from experience!!!
  17. Took mine off, was steering the gun with it. Still think that's weird cause I use the same rest on my open guns. FWIW
  18. Check the rule how long in front of the trigger guard the dust cover can be. I think the edge being full length makes it a no for idpa.
  19. Fairly common knowledge that 9x21 cases fit the 929. Starline has them It would give you 2mm more room or.078 in length of the case I
  20. Crimp - .001 to .002 Close the bell from powder die.
  21. I've had good fortune with the egw guide Rods as well
  22. Mike It's the jacketed bullets that make it a dream to load. Coated is cheaper but jacketed is easier!!!
