Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Here is how I solved my focusing problem. I am a lefty with left eye dominance, but it seems to me that my right eye isn't too far behind in trying to dominate my sight picture. This is very confusing at times so I took my mid range glasses (the ones I use for the computer) and stuck a target paster on the right lens over the spot where the sight picture would be at my shooting stance. This allows me to keep both eyes open and brings the front sight into clear focus. The target is a little fuzzy this way but it can be centered with a little practice. Kind of a convoluted explanation, but somebody might get some thing out of it. seniorlefty
  2. My three guns in .40(Para,S/A P9 and Ruger PC4 rifle )all like WW-WST. Around 4gr works just fine for a plinking load. (Insert usual disclaimer here)Seniorlefty
  3. I just picked up a PC-4 Ruger carbine for no other reason than it appealed to me. It takes the Ruger pistol mags and I was wondering if anyone uses it for the 3 gun bowling pin matches. It is a great shooter with any of my .40 loads I have for my Para P16 and my SA P9, including 170 gr SWC's which suprised me. It will obviously need a faster powder than the WST I use for the pistols.Any one have any idea about loads, etc for this cute little nipper? Seniorlefty
  4. TBF and GunGeek, You are probably right about checking too often, all the time Iv'e been doing it I never find any discrepencies(s) worth worrying about.(+/- a tength of a grain) With the fudge factor for loading to major, I won't get into trouble at the Chrono table. It's just that old habits are hard to break.seniorlefty
  5. Humming along on my Dillon, loading some .40's and noticed the balance beam on my scale was in the wrong position. I had done a routine powder charge check as I do every 25 rounds or so and forgot to dump it back into the case. As luck would have it, there were only 15 rounds in the bin as I had just transferred them to the big storage bin. I will take those 15 rounds to the range and wait for the suprise dud (maybe it will help me see if I'm flinching) A senior moment or a brain cramp??seniorlefty
  6. I need to put an ambi safety on my Kimber Polymer Target. This is the one with the BUL frame. Is there one I can get, or would it be best to send it to Kimber? The grip panel on the right side is not notched for one.seniorlefty
  7. Why do the recoil spring kits come with 2 springs? Should you/must you change both of them? Are they matched as to poundage? seniorlefty.
  8. Loaded up some 147 gr lead truncated flat points (.356 ) with 5.0 grains of Hodgdens Titegroup and trundled off to the range. This is the first time I tried this powder and I soon discovered my .38 Super did not like this combo. I suspect the Titegroup is too fast for my setup due to the early peak of the pressure curve. This powder may be fine in the .45 or .40 loadings but my gun likes slower burning powder aka AA#7. I found my groups were going low and right. ( I am lefthanded ) Also noted some keyholing on the target at 25 feet. My rig is a ParaOrdnance frame with a Behlert barrel and a 3 port comp. Am I off the wall with this one? I was looking for a falling plate load. Any thoughts? Hardly a new shooter but new to this fine BB.seniorlefty
  9. Quick and easy fix. I took a couple of empty shot bags and filled them with dried beans, sewed them up and they work as well as any store bought units. SeniorLefty
  10. Not an answer but another question. My bowling pin gun is a Kimber Polymer Target. This gun has a Bul frame with the hook on the front of the trigger guard and I cannot find a holster to take it. Don't really want to put a file to it to round it off. Anyone out there know what will fit it? Just to compound the problem, I am left handed. SeniorLefty
