  1. I use Hoppes as cologne it keeps the ladies well lubed.
  2. I took a lead #6 shot BB and squished it in a vice until it was the same size and the big hole. Then I used Red Loctite and glued the lead disk and tightened the set screw into the lead disk. When I decided I was happy with the front sight height I Red Loctited everything in. It's been going strong every since.
  3. I would be very concerned if I had to load short with a compressed load because the lead on my barrel was so short. Like it seems the OP has to do. If he is loading at 1.10 to keep from hitting the rifling and he loads a compressed load, that seems like a recipe for disaster. Wouldn't want the round to grow to the point where it jams the bullet up against the rifling.
  4. I've heard the OAL "can" growing on compressed loads if the neck tension isn't great, as we all reload mixed brass, we never really are 100% sure on the shape of the brass. Didn't want my gun/ mag to get jammed up. So I stayed away from compressed pistol loads, I do load compressed loads on my 30-06 and 204 Ruger.
  5. Yes I own a 1050 BUT I've never had an issue loading with my 550. I was loading 135gr bullets on the 1050 and loaded 147gr bullets on the 550. I was using 147gr in practice with the Win SPPs.
  6. I'm lazy......I went a whole year not cleaning my CZ SP-01!!!! I do oil my guns often, but they aren't dirty of overly wet, I put a few drops on them before every match. One on each rail, one on the barrel, one on the slide where it pushes on the hammer, and drop or 2 on the trigger parts if it looks dry. I use Mobil 5W20 Synthetic.
  7. I'm using a 10lbs PD hammer spring and I have only gotten 1 failure to fire with Winchester primers durring practice after several 1000s of rounds. I do use Federal primers in matches though.
  8. I went over 6 months shooting 200 to 400 rounds a week without cleaning. The only reason I cleaned my main gun is because I shot a Level II match. The gun never missed a beat. My load is N320 under 135 or 147gr coated bullets.
  9. 8.2 to 8.3 ish with 115gr PD HP.........haven't loaded 9mm Major in a while. My gun has 3 popple holes so it takes a little more powder than if it didn't.
  10. Recoil and/or Hammer spring? I'm thinking 5000 hammer falls during dry fire isn't much.
  11. Interesting......I've used Auto Comp and 3N37 both filled the case pretty full, I would worry about the bullet being pushed back out over time. But het I gave up on 9mm Major.
  12. You probably won't make major with a slow powder loaded that short. It would be one hell of a compressed load. I was given a bunch a 38 Super so I had the chamber reamed and now have no problems. Open guns are fun to shoot but for some reason I like Production.
  13. 17 round Mec-Gar with a basepad from someone. I like Henning and Shock Bottle, the Springers are OK.
  14. I agree 1.06 is way too short for 9mm Major. I think you are looking for an Earth Shattering Kaboom. I would get the barrel reamed so you can load out long. I loaded 9mm Major I loaded out to 1.160 to 1.170, never has an issue with bullet tension.
  15. I cock the hammer and put on the safety. Closest thing you are going to get to SA trigger in dry fire. Did it on my CZ and do it on my Tanfos. It hasn't hurt the gun yet. Personally unless you are mashing the trigger with every ounce of strength you have I don't see how it would hurt you gun.
  16. FWIW I've seen the stepped brass separate on both Major and Minor PF guns. I've also heard of problems with heavy bullets that are loaded short. FM just annoys me with their shenanigans, just more time to sorting 9mm
  17. When I first got into USPSA I went with CR Speed, I still use them today. But if I had it to do over again Ghost all the way. They will hold most any mag without all the spacers the CR Speed need. Don't get me wrong CR Speed work great. I use Ghost on my limited set up.
  18. I use CR Speed with spacers and washers, BUT if I had to do it again I would go with Ghost. I have Ghost mag pouches for my limited set up and I like the way they will hold any mag by just sliding it in.
  19. I use .1gr less powder in practice and local matches. The load chronos out to 125 to 127 PF. For Major matched I up the powder by .1gr which gives me 128-131PF. All ammo is case gauged. Those that don't pass get shot in practice. All match ammo is cased gauged. Same bullet with mixed brass.
  20. A few years back I had an issue with the coating on my Bayous. I called Bayou and we chatted about it. I got a case of 135gr 9mm and the coating was flaking off some, not all. Well Bayou sent me a whole case and told me to keep the others, I shot them all. So I can say Bayou stands by it's product.
  21. I just picked up the MOS that I can swing both ways if I want. Production or Carry Optics.
