I would think the speculators are the guys buying online at $80/k or whatever the going rate is so I doubt there will be a severe loss.

I just hope everyone remembers this time if it's good for the 5 years. It's always boom and bust so prepare for the next time there is craziness.

This happens every 4 years. Every 4 years people say it is the worst, ever, cry a lot.  Every 4 years I agree with that assessment.

In between those 4 years, it is always an insanely plentiful buyer's season. Even when prices dont die back down to pre-election pricing, they have been very reasonable, even accounting for inflation.

Before the shortage hit this past time, it was one of the best. Factory quality 9mm for $10 a box to your door. 223 was under $300 shipped per 1k to your door.

We told everyone to stock up on componentsand ammo. Many didn't listen.  Many said money was an issue, then bought brand new expensive cars, guns, etc. Then the same thing happened every 4 years. It wasn't money. It was priorities.

I'm a poor ex college kid, so instead buying a nice car, I continued to drive my $2000 Toyota and bought enough 223 and 9mm to last at least a year of drought, which was typical of what we saw every 4 years, no matter how long they always said it'd be a shortage for.

I'm not here to condescend; on the contrary, because I stocked up, I was able to equip earnest local new shooters with 9mm supplies when they couldn't and lined up at Academy for 4hrs every week.

We always hear, "well some us don't...etc". Maybe. But I think the real answer is priorities. The rest are excuses.

Reminds me of the parable of the grasshopper and the ants.

Good to see Powder Valley post regarding "banning some people for life" . The whole Cozy deal is trying to beat the bots. Apparently some of these guys had programs where they were ordering 100K at a time and it going through until PV caught on...you know those all ended up on gunbroker...anyways, good to see a company step up and try stopping the resellers so their regular customers might get some products..

    Wow....

But also how did they know which one were bots?

Yeah it's been frustrating....a month ago I was constantly refreshing and things become available (on midway), and I try to add when it says "available", and it won't even let me add it saying "not enough" or something like that not even 1 min passed by. Super frustrating.... I don't remember it being. this bad during Obama era...I got to do what others do and have a 10k primer stockpile at all times on top of yearly expected usage.

1st world problems I guess huh...

    Yep, 1st world probs.

I'm a dumbass for not buying 100K of them, but I'm not enough of a dumbass to continue to buy them if they weren't any good!  I've shot close to 50K of them and can't recall a time when one didn't go bang.

Thanks for the feedback. I read here just now that a guy's Glock wasn't setting em off. What pistols did you use em in?

I've been buying Ginex primers from Bosnia-Herzegovina for the past several years - have bought maybe 60K of them.  Availability (pre-Covid, of course) seemed to be hit and miss but when I found them they were maybe $22-$23/thou including ship/haz-mat.  I'd buy 20K at a time.  What a dumbass, should have been buying 100K (or more) at a time!!

Are they any good? I heard someone say that they read on benos that they weren't great.

I think that's a goofy stage design (and I shoot IDPA, lol) but the real focus of this thread should be that your gun shouldn't be able to bounce out of your holster like that. It's not an overly-aggressive movement. Sorry that it happened to you but hopefully the outcome of this is that you're replacing that holster for something with better retention.

    Have you considered the SERPA?

    (...yes, I'm joking)

    Ahhaahahhaha

Thanks for all the laughs from your post.

Be it as it may spark a whole separate flame war; yes, there are better options vs the Serpa (like with Safariland). And yes, it is their fault for not being safe with their firearms and not training themselves correctly.

Many of us have used Serpas without issue. Many of us also have bought better holsters.

The nice thing about the GX Vice holster is you *can* draw from a locked holster without damaging your gun or holster. It takes a sharp, determined pull, but the gun will come free.

Yeah, I get that you can tune it so it borderline will almost never come out, but can still be drawn if you are determined.... that's kinda how we set up our Bladetech level 1 holsters with the thumb screw when shooting 3G. I still will always recommend a level 2.

cannot  thank you enough George for your help and thoughtful suggestions

Best part of my day was shooting that A01 SD and having zero  issues while doing it--it was the first time since I bought  it

That's awesome. Glad you didn't have to use it as your boat anchor... though it certainly would be heavy enough to do the job :D

@HesedTech you  have a point there. turns out some of  the commercial ammo was too long. George was right about it being a OAL issue.

MY loads from today with the listed OAL, gr  of bullseye used with xtreme 124  gr  fmj bullets shot great. all loaded and ejected perfectly. I can get some sleep tonight  ;)

thanks for much to those who responded

and especially to George. Much appreciated.

Awesome! I also load to 1.08 for the CZ. It does shoot long 115gr very well (1.150), but can get into issues with reliable ejection.

I wonder if there is an extractor/more aggressive upgrade, somewhere.

I like that cam lock, I've seen it before on a couple different holster but maybe it's worth a purchase. Seems a lot easier than a thumb screw that I currently use.

I really like the design, but unlocking on the clock might get clunky, more in USPSA, but also in 3G.

Pretty much all use Lvl 2 retention in 3G. If you shoot 3G, some find it a good idea to also use the same Lvl 2 in USPSA so as to have the training be homogenous.

It really doesn't slow your draw down if you train with it. You also aren't winning from a faster draw. Something to think about.

I shoot a plastic fantastic, so I just crank down my Bladetech in USPSA or 3G and it doesn't even move.

I don't want to bash, but I am not a fan of RHT even before watching your video. Thank you for sharing your experience, I'm sorry it happened.

IMO grit on the front and rear backstraps makes minor grip adjustments difficult during the initial phase of the draw and also interfere with rotating the pistol in your hand to drop a magazine.

Some love it, but that's the reason why I only added aggressive stippling on the front and back of mine.

I have this exact same viewpoint... I thought I was alone on it! Like many things, it isn't a good/bad but more pros/cons. I think some added grippiness is good, but as you ramp up, you lose the ability to easily shift your grip when needed.

  12. Going to try out cowitnessing. But mainly because I dont want to take irons off and put then on all the time. I dont really care for cowitnessing, esp for competition, but it wont hurt to try!

    P.s. sights

Old topic but still a goodie lol. My first match was my first time shooting under a buzzer in 9 years (used to shoot rimfire optics in steel challenge and IDPA religiously).

I was like 78th out of 92 lol, I wanna say I lost like 80pts to procedurals which definitely helped hahaha.

92 shooters in IDPA?!!! Whoaa that's a lot of old white guys. XD

What made you take a 9 year break?

i understand the current, longstanding rules.  we have this recent pretty major phenomena and i'm just thinking the rules should be changed to take this phenomena into account.  there are multiple companies making 80% and 100% frames.  they're basically very similar to longstanding existing models.  again, given we're allowing aftermarket slides & barrels & triggers & etc, what's the harm in allowing aftermarket frames, whether 100% or with a little milling and drilling being done?  And if you want to keep the minimum manufacturing/sales numbers, just change 'complete guns' to 'frames and/or slides.'  what's the harm?

I agree with you. I waited a year after I pre-paid, to get the serialized ODG full size frame. I see both sides; that USPSA wants people to buy "factory" pistols, but I do think they should amend to allow POLYMER-only frames (not weighted, etc.) into Prod/CO. I don't have skin in the game; I don't plan on using the P80 frame in USPSA. But I think they should amend it to allow all the firearm enthusiasts to shoot it; it would encourage more to come out and shoot.

Also anyone who is looking at this mag obviously has competition in mind. With that being said why would you use cheap steel cased ammo in competition? It's like you are cheeping out on the ammo which affects accuracy but then not cheaping out on the mag. If your going to go all the way why not use great ammo too?

    Great questions.

Steel ammo isnt crap when you compare it to mass produced brass. Youll find you can get about 2 to 3 moa with m193 mass produced ammo and 3 to 4 with steel cased.

Use case: Hoser matches, matches under 100yds. Any match w paper targets present.

The point isnt steel vs brass. It is operational window/reliability. Steel introduces increased friction, this helps us test gear for brass and steel cased ammo.

I mainly use brass, so you're preaching to the choir.

Except this mag DOES work. I ran 400 rounds through it and never once had a single failure to feed. I have run it through several competitions since then in rain mudd and heat and I have had no failure to feeds through any of that. I am close to about 3k rounds through this mag and I have never once had a failure to feed from the mag. I stand by my statement that for 40$ you cant find a better mag. If you want to spend twice that just for a name then be my guest. But this is a cheaper option that works just as well

Does it work w steelcased ammo ie have a larger window of operation?

  17. Thank you for your initial review!

It looks like it's working, well, even with the fast rate of fire and fully loaded (a lot of us usually download one, so that's great info).

Really looking forward to seeing how steel-cased affects it. Surefire mags do not work reliably with steel-cased, as a direct comparison.

I got all the range footage I need. I'll edit the video for the review and post it later today.

I set up a mock 3gun stage (rifle only) and the loaded 6 mags full and shot.

I had zero failure to fires through all 6 mags. Yes you read that correctly. ZERO FTFS.

I'll get the video posted as soon as I can. Needless to say, I'll be using this magazine as my new 3 gun comp mag. I'm shooting a match this weekend and I'm going to also bring it to see of I get any ftfs

A+. Could you test steelcased ammo to see if the friction will make it fail?
