Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Welcome. Rio Salado multi gun is this Saturday. Good time as any to get your feet wet and always a good match.
  2. I run my G34 in everything, and it is run bone stock. Stock sights, stock 5.5lb trigger (I was told it is a Police model hence the stock trigger) It mimics my carry gun (G17) pretty well, and I haven't felt that it is holding me back. So I run it.
  3. Remington 870 is more than adequate for a beginner to the sport. I shot my entire first year (including my first MGM Ironman) with an 870. That being said you will be behind the guys running autos. If you already have an 870 I suggest using it until you feel that it is holding you back or you can afford to upgrade to a semi auto. The keltec KSG will put you in open more than likely, and in open you will be competing with saigas, akdals, and speed fed semi autos.
  4. Damn, I was hoping to get to shoot it again this year. I figured nobody would be dumb enough to sign up for trooper more than once! Kidding of course, I'm on the waiting list with my fingers crossed.
  5. Agreed with the above. I've recently picked up an older HK marked M1S90 for $500. It's better than the 870P I have been using. For the $1000 range I would look for an M2 Field which is better suited to the game.
  6. Coming from another noob to the sport (just over a year and half with one MGM Ironman under my belt) I would recommend the shoot now spend later option. The rifle that I was using (16" Sabre Defense midlength with an Eotech, Magnifier, Larue FF rail, and A2 muzzle device) wasn't typical of the rifles I saw at the multi gun matches I attended. That being said I learned a lot from my experience and I am building a more 3-gun applicable rifle strictly for the game. I say run what you brung until you get a feel for what would work better for you.
